Just learned how to make "real" hot chocolate - mixing cocoa powder, sugar, and a little milk to make a kind of "sauce," then adding milk and heating. It is fantastic. Where has this been all my life?

@maitaibeth that is so wonderful!!! It's such a great way to give back.
@jessiealbin so bummed to hear that! I predict that you will be doing bigger things before we know it. You beat out all but one other person, that's a pretty big deal!
I had such a horrible moment at school yesterday...for the past two weeks, one of my students has been SUPER excited because his mom was pregnant. I didn't say anything, because we have 8 other pregnant moms and I wasn't sure if it was for real or not. Well yesterday, this little dude's mom came in and asked to see me in my office. She had a miscarriage over the weekend and just wanted us to know that my student was having a really hard time processing it. Needless to say, we spent quite a while crying together and hugging. So sad. I've never actually seen that pain so soon AL...you realize that you just have no words that would possibly make that better. Family things are one of the hardest parts of being a teacher, for sure. It's hard not to get invested.
I'm sorry @JessieAlbin. That's the shitty thing about contests; only one winner. The good thing is you networked. You may end up getting something cooler out of this.
My supply has tanked. I went from pumping 20+oz. per day to barely 12oz. and Blaire drinks 12-16 Oz. at daycare. MY LC has me taking 3000 mg Fenugreek and 3000mg Blessed Thistle and recommended pumping after every time she nurses. I'm drinking 80ish oz. of water, eating oats, flax, brewer's yeast, etc. I'm not on hormonal BC and my period hasn't returned.
Any other suggestions or advice ladies? I have all of next week off for Thanksgiving, so I'm hoping to just relax and nurse her a lot and get my supply back up.
@rtv3 I'm in buffalo! Luckily my area only has about a foot. I'm tired of being one of the only ones at work but it is what it is. My mom got another 2 feet last night (she's 20 mins away) totaling 4 1/2 feet. It's just crazy.
So, the BMB drama went down in my new BMB May 15 and it was so stupid. That bitch was trying to stir up drama. She posted a pic then deleted it when people started recognizing her H or ex H. I don't even understand the whole thing. Too much drama to follow. I'm not surprised she got outed, we thought she was catfishing from the beginning and obviously something fishy was going on. I just feel bad for the children involved. All the adults are so childish and making poor decisions. Money makes people go nuts, it's a damn shame.
I just can't get into my new BMB. I'm so tired of the drama, intros, what is my baby's gender questions, tacky baby shower questions, and bitchy replies. I feel like I just did this, so it takes all the fun out of it. Plus, I have no time to keep up with y'all and them.
@JessieAlbin hugs! Sorry you didn't win, but at least you made connections!
@swerbtastic3351 sorry your DH is being a dick! I'm lucky DH doesn't force me to have sex. I guess he doesn't want to deal with my wrath.
Finally, today is DH's birthday and I got him a delicious strawberry shortcake this morning. I want to eat it, but I have to wait until tonight. Boooo.

@ambarnett1 - wow I didnt even think about you having a new BMB until I read your post, which is silly because ofcourse you would. But my first reaction was Noooooooooo you belong to US not THEM
@juniper75 it's nice to read about people going through the same thing again, but I just can't get into it. I've been around here for 1+ year, I feel like I know all of you and can't possibly keep up with them. Oh well! I'll continue to lurk with them and contribute some here. It is what it is I A14.

Any sense of what's causing it? I.e., could LO be filling up on solids that you could pull back on, or eating less due to distraction where you could move to a quiet room to feed? I've also read recommendations to increase skin to skin, baby wearing, and even cosleeping for a while.

I have 0 ideas on what to get my MIL for Christmas! I can't get her anything for her house because she lives with my SIL. She's not crafty. She's not stylish. She wears horrible grandma tshirts all the time that are way too tight. She works and plays Farmville on her computer at home, that's it. Help???

My mom is hard to shop for too. She's totally not sentimental or into your typical grandma gifts. I got her a flat whisk that she liked of mine and dd painted a ceramic monster to put in my mom's garden (she's a master gardener). I may also pick up a pretty light scarf for her- she lives in TX and it doesn't get very cold there.

My SIL said her 4 month old only takes two naps a day and that her older son only took 2 naps around the same age too. Is this normal?? Everything I've read says that babies should be sleeping every 2-3 hours around this age. Like, I don't think he refuses to nap, I just think she doesn't try to put him to sleep. :-/

I have a girlfriend who has said that her baby just doesn't nap during the day since the kid was about 5 months old. My initial reaction was same as yours, that she just doesn't want to devote time to getting her baby to nap. Now I just check myself, try not to be so judgy and remember that every baby is different and I really don't know anything about her daily routine or schedule.
I mean who wouldn't want their baby to nap more ....lol.

Yeah, I guess my reaction was affected by her reaction when she seemed surprised that Edolie still naps every 2 hours. I wish she didn't because I feel like my entire life revolves around her sleep schedule right now, but it is what it is I guess. And then when my IL's babysat her last month, my SIL was there. She was so sleepy and on the verge of going to sleep right before they picked her up, and then she wouldn't sleep in the truck for them, just cried the whole time. Instead of trying to get her to sleep when they got to their house, they just kept her up for 2 more hours. I was really irritated. Anyway, I brought up that incident, and she said, "Oh she seemed fine and was happy that day," almost as if she didn't believe me or something. Sigh.

I hear ya - my inlaws totally give me a hard time for respecting LO's need for naps and sleep schedules. They think I make it all up in my head. I am sure they talk about me behind my back about it all the time. I was the same with my first and she is a great sleeper now - so they can suck it! Still I know its going to be a fight at holiday time...I am dreading it.
Oh and my LO still naps every 2 hours too. Sometimes she can go three - depends on how well she slept on previous naps. If your SIL is right about her LO"s sleep habits, her baby is the special snowflake - not yours.
ETA - correcting sleep to slept. I should stop trying to be so fast when I type...lol
Gavin quit consistently nursing about 4 weeks ago. He then only nursed at night time. He completely weened himself about 2 weeks ago. My milk is now dry and I find myself kind of sad. I'm so glad I was able to get as far as I did with him, unlike with Erin (that was a terrible experience). He's crawling and walking himself along the furniture. I feel like this is all happening at once. And the fact i've been on my period for 2 full weeks now probably isn't helping with my emotions. In amazing news, G slept through the night two days in a row.. He's never STTN, so it was a nice break.
Aryssa had her GI appointment today. he thinks she is perfectly healthy but we will be running the basic poop, pee and blood labs anyway. she is active and she has grown 2 inches. said to up her caloric intake (yogurt, meat, etc) since around this time the calories in breastmilk start to reduce
I thought all of the "mystery" in my marriage went away after I became pregnant, but no apparently not my marriage was exposed to a new level of openness today, I don't think I've ever been so embarrassed Infront of my husband or humiliated. I just want to go lay in bed with the blankets over my head and pretend that the biggest Tmi moment never happened X_X

@MrsStanton87 - yay! That is so exciting!
@allyandmike24 - I know what you mean. It's the best and the hardest part of teaching. Hugs to you and your student's mom
