@nolemama24 YAY! I'm happy that you had a positive experience. Everything you said is pretty much what any functional medicine practitioner is about. There is a lot of info out there now on leaky gut (gut permeability, intestinal permeability). Not all of it is from "doctors" or "research", but still worth while reads, listens, etc. When I went to my practitioner I had a form of estrogen dominance only because I had too little progesterone. It truly is about the correct ratio of those two hormones, well and all your other hormones, there needs to be a balance. When I first started they upped my thyroid dose 3-4 times before we found the "sweet spot", and when we found it I dropped 10lbs with doing nothing different. The dose may need to be adjusted at different seasons in your life.

@inthewoods23 The first time I went to California I was at a store and the cashier said "Would you like a 'baahg' with that?" I was like a what?  I figured out that they have really open round vowel sounds and us midwesterners have really flat, pinched, nasally sounding vowels. When I said bag, they thought I was saying beg.

@m6agua omg that makes so much sense! I was born in IL but moved to AZ when I was 6! Now I get why everyone said I had an accent when Ioved to WI in 8th grade!

 I'm from California and now live in the mountain west. The only two dialect/words that drives me nuts here is pop and wash. I will die on "it is soda!" hill. However other words for soda like coke for all soda doesn't bother me and are acceptable, just pop. Wash it's mainly mispronounced by the older generation. They pronounce it "warsh". There is no R! I have noticed myself occasionally dropping g at the end of words and pronouncing mountain as "mount'n". That irks me when I say words that way. 

We have cheese curds out west too.  ("Great cheese comes from happy cows. Happy cows come from California." I still cant believe I remember that slogan.)

I never expected those names at all. I'm just glad they didn't pick my current favorite for a boy's name so it wouldn't spike in popularity.

@m6agua thanks so much! yeah, we are going to draw labs in 8 weeks to adjust. Pretty pumped! 

I am from Florida and I feel like Florida is accent-less. My parents made sure that I would not develop any sort of Hispanic accent (they both have thick ones and have been discriminated against, unfortunately). I did go to school up in Tallahassee which is basically Southern GA and I have been known to thrown around a y'all here or there. We live in the UK now and my vocabulary is all kinds of messed up, haha.

@spacemountaineer I remember that slogan too—it must have been pretty effective! Also, my FIL says pop and warsh, but only the latter bothers me. He also says “heighth.” That last one really bothers me for some reason. I guess I’m easier about letting vowels get wonky, but heighth is just wrong.

I went to Ohio to visit my husband's family last year and almost squealed when the checkout guy at Target asked if we wanted our pop in the bag. Florida is so boring (accent wise , not in news headlines! LOL)

@lulu1180 I miss Cleveland!  Also I still wear my Browns jersey with pride even in Steelers country. 

I have a funny story about my jersey too.  It's oversized so I can fit layers under it and because of that MH can wear it.  They had a fundraiser with a dunk tank and he wore the Browns jersey and made triple the amount of money everyone else did!  I guess people really wanted to dunk the guy yelling about how Pittsburgh sucks and Cleveland rocks!

begging4abump  A long time ago on TB far, far away... people had more optimism and hope. We are all excited to be TTGP and hoping to have our little bundles of joy.  There had been a LOT of questions being asked in the randoms about what to expect when we got PG and the 'things no one told you that you wish they had.'  You know, the nitty gritty gross things of actually popping a human out of such a tiny tunnel.  But fast forward 4 years later and many of us are STILL here and no longer starting out with unicorns and happiness abounding... and alas, the dark side has taken over and we are all bitter hags of hatefulness (or at least my Sith soul is...)

I feel sorta bad but also sorta not. DH tried to instigate morning sex and I told him that I’m not doing anything till his clothes are put away. They’ve been laying out since before Easter (I washed and folded them mind you, which I don’t mind, but put them tf away) and I’ve probably asked him to put them away 20 times since then. His closet is 10 feet away...it’s not hard. I feel guilty for doing that but I’m so tired of nagging and essentially just being his mommy around the house until he wants to have sex 🤷🏼‍♀️

@b_1029 ugh same. DH for a while was basically living out of the clean clothes hampers in the laundry room. It was an "experiment" as he was figuring out how minimalist he actually was with his clothes. Those hampers were untouched forever and I finally threw everything on his side of the bed in a rage because throw it out or put it in the damn donation pile we have in one of the other bedrooms! It's not hard. I apologized for my rage and moved the pile of clothes into the room with the donations for him to spend the time to sort through. That pile is still there untouched.... Since before 2019 😒

My DH's laundry 'system' before we got together was piles on the floor.  No shyte, we went into his laundry room and he pointed to the piles of clean clothes just dumped on the floor.  When I asked about dirty clothes, he then proceeded to point those piles out. And this was legit my reaction:



I'm like, this shit does NOT fly with me... you wash the damned clothes and then you do something with them, NOT just dump them on the floor!!!!  He's much better now and states he only did it that way because he was a 'single bachelor'

Add me to the put your clothes away party!  I found this really cool bench made from fire hoses that I wanted for the bedroom but I know it's just going to be covered in his clothes.

My H is kind of the same. He has clothes everywhere. Clean clothes on top of the dryer, some dirty clothes on the floor by the washing machine, then a hamper that's overflowing in the closet, more clothes on the floor. I told him I felt like his clothes were suffocating me since everywhere I go, they're there. He knows I am patient, but once you go over my threshold, I will pull a Cersei. There will be no mercy.

I’m so glad i’m not the only one who struggles with this! It’s seriously one of the biggest points of contention in our marriage. I’ve told him SO many times that acts of service is my love language, so I really don’t mind doing his laundry (with mine) and folding it ...but when it just sits there in a pile on the bed/floor/desk it’s like a big FU. He’ll always apologize but then still does it. 

@inthewoods23 similar to YH, mine also went through a phase where he was like “oh I wanna see what I wear all the time and give the rest to goodwill” so he would just throw all his clean clothes onto the washer / dryer when he was done and would just grab stuff off there. His theory was that eventually all that would be left in his closet is stuff he doesn’t wear. After a few weeks I put the kabash on that- a gigantic pile of laundry isn’t sustainable and we have several things that need to lay flat. Oh men....

@b_1029 yes to acts of service! I'm totally the same way. I run my fingers through his hair, and other things like tossing some of his laundry in mine if I have room, etc. The MOMENT I ask for a back rub or shoulder massage I get a no. Pisses me off to no end. I do these nice things and just want the same in return! And if he does do it, it's a half-assed short squeeze with 1 hand. 😤

@b_1029 @inthewoods23 - haha your H's "experiment" to see what clothes he wears. I would be like "Your research is super fascinating but it's been 6 months, just pick up after your damn self!!" When I clean our bedroom I just clean around SO's clothes all over his side of the room. And just stare at him silently when he freaks out that he can't find his keys/wallet/etc.

@chichiphin Personally, I don't think your response warrants a warning, but unfortunately, our opinion doesn't matter, only the people who get butthurt by our gifs.  Also, I hope you have a friend that can come back and update everyone on how you're doing...you know, just in case you happen to get a third warning and the ban hammer...

@b_1029 Acts of service is how I receive/show my love language! I've told DH this several times recently but he doesn't get it. He receives/shows with physical touch and words of affirmation. It something we both need to work on adapting to show each other love.

My top 2 are physical touch (I VERY much like to be near him/around him) and either words of affirmation or acts of service. I can't remember #4 but I know gifts was last.

We have a nice patio set on our screen porch, but the cushions have gotten pretty flat over the years and have a bunch of stains on them. I was looking to replace them, but replacement cushions are apparently crazy expensive (like $400-500 for all of the cushions we need)! Well, I just found some on sale at Kohls, and then found a bunch of coupons, and some gift cards that have been in my wallet since Christmas, and got them down under $180.  My level of excitement over it shows how lame my life is now. 🤣

@b_1029 we are in the same boat. I do think quality time would be a close second for MH tho... but he is def physical touch while I am acts of service. sex =/= folding laundry.
