@celticknotfire My RE office makes it very clear that kids are not welcome. I think a lot of offices are that way. The least the lady could have done was to try to be discreet...

@celticknotfire Some lady brought her kid to my last RE appt and the kid was so sick, he was wrapped in a blanket and unable to sit up AND grandma was there too. It's like, are you effing kidding me?!

@ruby696 that's horrible!  There was a couple there once with a baby and dad sat in the waiting room while mom went back.  He was talking to another dad about how people that come here are so rude to him and his adorable 9 month old.  I had to hold MH's hand to keep him from getting up and saying something.

celticknotfire  Yeah, most RE offices do NOT allow kids for any reason. I'm a fan of this policy. Time and a place people... *sigh*

@shamrocandroll @brookert615 The standard is 60 days without a period or a BFP before seeing your OB to kickstart your period, in fact I think the pinned Newbie Guide even states the same thing

Still dealing with residual chaos from tax season here and with wedding prep ramping up (53 days away!) I'm realistically spending my little free time at work doing wedding stuff instead of TB, but fear not, I'm around! I feel like I should re-intro when I decide to jump back into things.

@lulu1180 @brookert615 I'll just say right now, if I ever go 60 days without getting my period or a BFP, I am going to be so BSC and annoying to you all.  But at least I didn't just barge in here like that to begin with, right?

@shamrocandroll So, no joke, about 10 months before I got PG the first time, when we were NTNP I had a 59 day cycle!  Now, I had cycles that went 40-some odd days, and the like, so I did my duty and waited to test at like 51 days or something. Afternoon, negative test. THen realized I probably should've used FMU. So I waited a few days and took a new test first thing in the morning.  Still negative. I was at like 53 days. Called my doctor and freaked out. They legit said "Well,are you stressed?  Because your period could be late because you're stressed."  I'm all "YES, I'm f-ing stressed now!!! I'm OK with getting AF. I'd be joyous to be PG.  But 54 days with NEITHER is NOT OK and not normal."  They then legit told me to wait a week, test again, and then call back. Thankfully I got AF the day before my 'week' was out when I was planning to call in the AM.  God... I wish I had been a temper back then as I'd LOVE to know WTF actually was going on...

@dpchickens Oh man.  I'd be going bananas.  Both of my AL cycles were a lot longer than usual (5-6 weeks) but at least I knew there was a reason for that.  I've been soooo stressed out lately, and I've definitely wondered if that has contributed to my longer-than-they-used-to-be cycles recently.  But not 59 days longer!

@shamrocandroll Yeah, I've had cycles anywhere from 28-59 days. My standard is 35-37 days. So peggies who come in all being like "I haven't had my period in FOREVER cause it's been 30 days and it's soooo late and taking me SOoooo long and I dunno what's happening" really irk me.  I'm like, welcome to my usual life. Suck it.

My OB definitely told me 60 days was the cut off before I should make an appointment and start testing for PCOS.

i was just thinking earlier today when I was on a walk that the majority of us do actually post every single day on TB while in our real lives we probably have people we only talk to on occasion. Such a weird thing.

@inthewoods23 I WAS THINKING THAT * EXACT THING * YESTERDAY TOO. I talk to my BFF, DH, &.... yall... everyday. I barely have any friends who live in the area, and definitely none I hang out with on the regs, only like--when there are parties or gatherings or events? Sigh. I have some peeps I hang out w/ in NOLA but that's 2 hours away? I think I might curate some one-on-one friends this summer...

It's pretty crazy when you think that there are things we talk about on here that we don't tell people in our normal lives.  I couldn't imagine going up to a friend and telling them I'm ovulating!

I agree with that the internet lets people say things they wouldn’t in real life, including things we’d sometimes get called out for in real life since it’s so absurd or contradictory...

I do kind of feel bad because I’m not sure if people say these things because they want people to talk to or if it’s something more calculating?

@bows22 My assumption is usually that they’re lonely and / or want attention. I try not to think too badly of others, but I’m big on trust and honesty. Sometimes they have a legit mental health issue and they need help.

@celticknotfire I do sometimes try to share w/ my women friends what I've learned on this journey bc, as a feminist, I think it's important that we understand what our bodies are capable of. But a lot of times ppl are like "um okay," like I am crazy for tracking so much info and also it's just a lot all at once. Weirdly, the best convo I ever had w/ anyone about this was w/ one of my guy friends whose mom had just died, and she used the "rhythm method" which is where FAM's roots are, so he was like "yeah, my mom used to teach that at volunteer locations for women" or something. It was really cathartic for both of us to be talking about these things, and I was grateful for his enthusiastic response.

@kagesstarshroom I think that's seriously awesome she volunteered to educate women! Honestly I really wish I would've been taught some of these things in school! They never pushed for us to understand our bodies, just to abstain!
