I fee like time is flying by! Physically, I'm ready for the baby. But there are a few things we need to get done first, still, so I could use the 8 weeks.
I may have said this before, but it was such a huge help to us I thought I'd repeat it. Disposable plates/cups/utensils saved our lives in the first month or two!!!! C-section mamas especially don't need to plan on unloading the dishwasher for a few weeks (at least!). I'm sure we all want to save the planet, but being able to take that one chore off the table made a world of difference.
One, been having contractions again today, 33 weeks here. Hoping I can stop them with water.
Two: Has anyone read the reviews on the amazon baby registry free gift box? They are truly lolable. Apparently people actually paid money for theirs depending on their situation. One lady called it 35 dollars worth of crap. I just ordered mine and was curious. The contents truly seem to fluctuate.
Whomp whomp, I didn't get the job. I heard back today that they went with someone who had more experience in the position. The upside is that I don't have to worry about insurance coverage issues, time off issues, and I get to keep my 4 day work week.
@emilyalso Good tip! I'm sure you mentioned it, but I hadn't thought of it.
@Yiggle09 Can you lie down? Or are you at work? Hope they stop soon!
@Yiggle09 Yes, the contents fluctuate. Personally, I was thrilled with mine. There were some items I couldn't use. I don't think it's bad for $35, but I would never spend $35 for it. Mine was free, and in that regard, it was perfect. We got a beautiful muslin swaddle, a bottle (which we're not using but it's a nice one), and other great little items not to mention all the coupons.
@Jens_Hoes at work but I have only done two peoples xrays today as I am in an outpatient area and have been sitting for probably 1.5 hours total of my work day. I started feeling them on the ride in then they stopped but now its kicking into gear... At least im in a hospital right!
@Yiggle09 mine was free too. I just had to complete the registry and purchase something for $10. Which was an item i needed for baby anyway. I think I probably got the same box as @jayandaplus as it had the swaddle, bottle, pack of wipes, cream samples, teething toy, and coupons.
@Jens_Hoes Sorry to hear about the job! But honestly it does sound like there are upsides to not getting it also. Hopefully new opportunities will arise after LO is born.
My in laws come this week and next week I fly out to find daycare and maybe a house where we will be moving in July. I want to crawl into a hole and wake up a year from now when I am nearing the home stretch of pumping for daycare, sleep training this baby is over, and all the big choices are done.
Someone broke the GIF party for me... I keep trying to open it and it will crash! Who did it?!
I may be the culprit.
My GIF was the last posted. It works on the desktop, but phone is bugging out. I got on desktop to try to delete post, but that didn't do the trick. Too much bumping, I should really get to work.
@WombThereItIs , @Yiggle09 , I'm right there with you wishing to fast forward a few months...preferably the whole first year. I know there were things that I loved about that time...I'm trying to remember them, but just drawing blanks. I'm going to REALLY make an effort to enjoy the baby time this go-around, knowing that it's my last.
My boss has basically pulled me off of all emails and projects for the next 2 weeks (my last 2 weeks) in fear that I will go into early labor. It's kind of a comical fear because I am 34 weeks tomorrow and getting induced very early (36 weeks) and if this was a normal pregnancy, there is no way he would stop my workload 6 weeks early, BUT I guess I'll take the slow weeks.
I know this isn't everyone's jam, but I plan on wasting a few hours this week looking for cute headbands for this little lady's newborn shoot, so if anyone has seen any super cute ones...pass 'em along! :-)
It's all good @starphish18! I would have started it sooner but my phone got dropped yesterday and is now fucked up. So I had to break out my old tablet for the first time in months until I get a replacement and everything is so slow. I will respond from the computer during nap time!
Right now DD has a fever so we're just hanging out on the couch watching cartoons and relaxing.
Last night husband went to visit with his family after the girls were in bed. They are normally in bed by 645, asleep by 7 (yes, I'm normally super lucky! I know that!) last night they would not settle down! Younger daughter's toddler bed is under the window, and she figured out how to climb up onto the windowsill under the curtain. So, even though I'm on limited activity, I ended up getting so frustrated that I moved all of their furniture around so she wouldn't be by the window anymore. So, they finally went to sleep at 830. And then husband had to be at work early this morning, and accidentally woke the girls up at 6 instead of their usual 7. Soooo today has been total toddler dramas all day long.
(read in the sobbingest most dramatic voice you can.) "I not a big kid, I a big girl!!!" "[Sister] I have to use the potty, you no watch me!" "I want the pink spoon"(10000000000000 times in a row, without stopping for a breath.) "I all done." (I take her plate away.) "I still eating!!!!!"
Sigh. It's naptime now, so hoping for a better afternoon.
I can't believe it's already the end of March, time really needs to slow down! I don't feel like working today so I think I'm going to kill some time doing some Amazon and Target shopping for DS big boy room mini makeover. I'm getting him a Buzz Lightyear Fat Head thing and can't wait to see his reaction, he's going to be so excited!
Another random, I'm so sore today I practically killed myself cleaning and organizing stuff around the house this weekend. I have this horrible fear that I'll go into labor in the middle of the night and my MIL will have to come stay with DS and my house will be a disaster. Like she'll open the pantry to find 10 different cereal boxes mixed on the shelf with canned goods and she'll have a heart attack, haha! Totally stupid to even be thinking about but for some reason it's completely freaking me out!
@Squirtgun I cannot handle the repeating a phrase one million times during a tantrum. DD was awful Saturday but was a pretty great kid on Sunday, until dinner time. She laid on the floor crying through most of dinner because she doesn't like chicken alfredo, even though there were things on her plate that she does like. All she wanted was a brownie. I may have thrown the brownies away in one of my worst parenting moments. Then she repeated "I want a brownie!!" approximately 2.5 million times. It's official, she broke me.
@Squirtgun@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot I'm there with you. Right not the new toddler tantrum jam is to throw a fit demanding something and then when it is offered to them scream that they don't want that exact.same.thing and act like it is poison.
Oh and the next person who says "oh just wait, 3 is worse" is getting my full third tri rage. Don't be a dick.
@WombThereItIs Oh man. We are at 3 1/2. Much like all parenting, I wouldn't say it's "worse" but different. I get more frustrated now then I did when she was younger because I think I place more responsibility on her to behave more. But she can understand things better than she did last year, which helps sometimes. Likewise, people keep telling me that kids turn in to angels at 4. Just when I start daydreaming about it, someone tells me how awful their 4 year old is. Maybe I'll get along with DD once she's in college.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot@WombThereItIs yes!! It's the worst!! With the pink spoon this morning, I already had the pink spoon in her bowl! So I tried to just ignore her and talk to sister. Then I finally snapped and said "if you ask for the pink spoon one more time, I get the pink spoon." So she stopped crying mid-sob, and said very calmly "I want the pink spoon please." Yeah... No pink spoon for her. (She was actually a really good 2yr old, but at three she turned into a threenager. I think that some kids are worse at three, some at two. My friend's kids have the terrible twos, and are super happy three year olds.)
@WombThereItIs@Yiggle09@Kipperoo - I'm willing to take your tiny babies on a lease basis (you name the term length). I am nutzo for newborns, and would welcome a whole herd of them!

Aaaand going on my to-do list today: make brownies.
In all seriousness, sorry to everyone dealing with tantrums. That'll be a completely new thing for me and my H. Soooo looking forward to it.
@Squirtgun , @WombThereItIs , @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot , the toddler testing is beyond frustrating. EVERYTHING is a challenge, he's got an opinion about EVERYTHING, and if he doesn't get his way, it's a full on meltdown. Example: Sunday morning, I get him out of his crib, he goes over to his little kitchen to "make breakfast" and proceeds to have a meltdown because the cleaning lady put his little sheepskin rug in front of his crib instead of in front of his kitchen (for the record, it's been there since TUESDAY)...cue the theatrics..."mommy!! it goes HERE for my FEET to make the BREAKFAST! Don't put it by my CRIB. It doesn't go by the CRIB, Get it away from the criiiiiiib"....tears. Lots of tears. Over a 2 ft misplacement of a rug. Other things that incited meltdowns: picking the wrong pajamas, giving him a blue bowl, telling him his raspberries look good, walking into his bedroom (he "needs space!"), putting on a diaper with a scary tiger...the list goes on.
@Jens_Hoes , meant to mention this earlier...sorry you didn't get the job. I hope something great comes along after the baby comes!
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot ugh it must have been in the toddler air! DD (3 1/2) threw down because I wouldn't give her pudding before lunch yesterday. And then after that everything was a meltdown. I had fiance take her to my parents for a few hours because I was about to lose my shit! not my proudest moment...
I think that some kids are worse at three, some at two. My friend's kids have the terrible twos, and are super happy three year olds.
Ugh that's what I'm dreading. My 2.5 yo is pretty pleasant for the most part as long she gets enough sleep and food. Otherwise she's either hangry or cranky. Like mama, like daughter! She does have more meltdowns around DH probably because I don't put up with her shit and she knows how to manipulate him lol. Bring it on 3, I have no fear!
@jens_hoes sorry to hear about the job! I completely understand how you're feeling! I was the same when I didn't get the job I interviewed for. I think you're looking at it in a very positive way! One less thing to worry about before our LOs get here!

@Jens_Hoes sorry about the job but glad youre seeing some positives frol not getting it.
@emilyalso i love newborns too!!! Cant wait for these babies to arrive!
To those with tantruming toddlers today, i think my dd is just getting started... Shes 4 months away from 2 and shes been getting a little (or a LOT) more dramatic and tells us no now.
@Yiggle09 how are the contractions now? Fingers crossed theyve slowed down for you!!
@Jens_Hoes sorry about the job. I'm glad you can still see the benefits in not having to worry about insurance or leave changes.
I was pretty lucky with DS1 and he was a very easy toddler. He had no big tantrums, but now aa a 5 year old he has an answer for everything and has started throwing tantrums. Of course DS2 picks up on it and tries to do the same thing. I hope that just means DS2 gets it all out of his system sooner.
my random reminder for everyone is to have those hospital bags ready. I was only 1 week away from my goal of actually having it ready on time, until Lucia decided I Should just keep the streak alive and not have it packed.

@WombThereItIs good luck house and daycare hunting! I hope you have great luck finding places!

@WombThereItIs hopefully looking and moving wont be as stressful as you think ti will be!
