Thank you guys so much! I especially appreciate hearing from people who have had similar experiences (I'm not happy you all have had to deal with broken bones obviously). When he first did it I honestly envisioned he would be completely helpless and I'd have to carry him everywhere and he would just be sitting on the couch for 6 weeks. It's so good to hear he'll be able to be fairly normal and mobile and this is just a temporary setback.
@Jens_Hoes ugh! Good luck! My parents dog got sprayed twice almost a year apart which sucked bc he finally stopped smelling. They took him to the groomer and nothing worked. I can't remember what type of dog you have but if you can shave the part that got hit, that will help the best. Otherwise you just deal and eventually it won't be too bad unless they get wet. Sorry you're dealing with that. Go back into your bubble!!!
@RainyDays86 Oh man! What a rough couple days! Hopefully your little guy gets a "cool" cast and signing/writing on it might make it more barable. Sorry your going through that.
@RainyDays86 oh my goodness what a storm you have going on. Sorry to hear ahout the break. It seems like such a common accident that we used to take DDs shoes off for the slides to get rid of any grip. From what PPs have said it sounds like he probably will adapt pretty well. It's like what they say, its usually harder on the parents than the kids. Hang in there!
Oh no @RainyDays86! I hope your DS adjusts to his new accessory quickly! Kids are so resilient but it's always harder on the mamas. Lots of hugs and well wishes being sent your way!

@RainyDays86 you are doing an incredible job! With so much going on, you are so positive! I hope your son does well and the time goes by quickly for him!
Has anyones child had vur? Or kidney reflux? Dd had a uti a while back and we were told if she had another within the year that we would have to have her checked for kidney reflux and im worried she has another now. I think that was only 6ish months ago and now she is waking up in the night and when i check on her shes holding her diaper area. shes been hospitalized 3 times already when she was younger and im just so worried we will be in and out again for this too now. I have been up reading and some kids outgrow it while others need surgery. I know im getting ahead of myself bc we dont even know if she has it but i really just want her to be healthy.
@Jkp7749 my DD has kidney reflux due to having an extra kidney. She is followed by a urologist and takes a daily prophylactic antibiotic to prevent or lessen the chances of UTIs and bladder infections. Her reflux was initially grade 4 on both sides, but after 2 years is showing improvement. I don't remember how old your DD is, but we were cautioned potty training will increase the likelihood of infection. Other than the rx we have an annual re-scan day of outpatient testing so long as we don't get too many UTIs. So far she's had 2 in 2 years and both were treated with meds only.
@RainyDays86 oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your son. Also tonhear about how overwhelmed you have felt. It's totally understandable, but I know you will get everything worked out. Creepy internet hugs!
@RainyDays86, wishing a speedy recovery for your son. I'm sure he will be scooting around in no time, but that must be incredibly stressful for you on top of everything else. Hopefully, there is some relaxation for you in the near future--you certainly deserve it!
@RainyDays86 first you are amazing. Your holding everything together desite all these setbacks. Second I used to put casts on and kids certainly act like they aren't even there. I had to replace this one kids 3 times! And third I absolutely love you used the word break instead of fracture! The medical side of me really gets frustrated when people go I didn't break it its just fractured. I'm like no a fracture is a break a bone completely severed and poking out the skin is called a compound fracture but it couldn't be more broken! I am hoping your being put through the hard stuff now to have a nice easy time post partum.
@PghMom412 thanks for sharing with me! Dd will be 2 in july!i wish she was a little older so she could tell me what it feels like but i noticed she had a low grade fever for a few days, then yesterday it seemed like she was constantky peeing and it didnt seem to bother her but then i was watching on her monitor and she woke up and cried out a few times then later got out of bed and while we were snuggling for a few, she kept grabbing down there and squirming around. Last time she was really irritable and cried whenever she peed. Im wondering if we just caught it earlier this time or maybe its not one!
@Jens_Hoes oh man I am so sorry! That is just awful! Hopefully the smell will come out.
@RainyDays86 I am so sorry about your DS! I don't have any experience, but I've always heard how quickly younger kids heal and how it doesn't even seem to phase them like PPs mentioned. You are for sure supermom!!

This is funny to me because when DD broke her arm at daycare, her teacher later told me she thought it was "just bent." DD was wearing a sweatshirt and you could tell the arm was broke. It wasn't compound, but it was visibly not right. Uhhh, ok teacher. Sure. Bones sometimes just "bend." Not.
@RainyDays86 I'm so sorry for your DS, I honestly have no idea how you possess so much positivity
@Jkp7749 my DD also has kidney reflux. She was on a daily antibiotic until about 6 months ago to prevent UTIs. She also sees a urologist every 6 months with an annual US of her kidneys to check on her dilation.
So I promise I tried to search but am mobile bumping so it wasn't effective.. can anyone point me to the post where we talked about activities for toddlers while on bed rest? I'm doing my best but could use some inspiration. This is harder than I thought.
Ugh DH lost his wedding ring. Now he wants to go ring shopping and he's so darn picky. I suggested a necklace to wear during work but he wouldn't do it. Why are men so stubborn?!

DH did this and he ended up getting a QALO ring. It's awesome (and cheap).
My DH has lost his ring THREE times now. The third time he lost it was even after I got him a Qualo ring and he forgot to change it out before going to the field... put his ring in his pocket and now it's lost somewhere amongst the forests of WA.
After he lost it the second time I bought him a tungsten one from overstock.com so it's only like $50 to replace. But STILL. I don't understand men.

H got a tattoo on his ring finger and leaves his wedding ring at home. He works on cas and it could get lost or cause his hand to get stuck! I've looked into the qualo rings as well but I think he would still be cautious to wear it at work.

@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot that sounds like a green stick fracture where it could look bent. Happens most in children but it's still a break lol that sounds like a smart teacher ...
@chailife34 - I don't remember where the post is, but if you search Pinterest for "busy bag" or "busy box" you can find a bunch of cool ideas. I just placed a big ol' Amazon order to have a box of things for DS to do quietly when the baby arrives
@ChristinaWild: don't mind my nosy-ness... but what types of things did you order? It's been, oh, 4 days since my last Amazon order, and I think a busy box is a good idea to have prepped and ready to go.
@SKZW - I don't mind at all! DS will be 2 in late July, so he's rarely still. I had a blast ordering stuff that might keep him calm LOL. I got a Melissa and Doug Water Wow book, because he recently has started to like coloring....and always likes being wet! A set of wiffle balls and some pipe cleaners for him to practice threading - also some threading cards and lacing beads, just to mix things up. A set of plastic nuts and bolts for him to screw and unscrew. I found a link on Pinterest with some printable animal cards, and I ordered some small plastic animals to go with it to play a match game. Then just a mess of sticker pads (reuseable in the hopes that they won't stick to my walls!!), no mess markers and paper, a mini magnet tin, some Pom Poms (to pull in and out of a bag), a couple of new puzzles, and a couple of books with flaps because he likes opening them. Then I also got some oversized pencil bags, and I'm going to put each thing into a bag so it stays kind of organized, and hopefully stops him from dumping everything out at once!
I know this has already been discussed recently, but I have a specific question... Do we think Easter Candy would be side-eyed by nurses/staff if we decided to take that as a treat for them? Is a month later too long to be considered good/fresh?
@emilyalso Candy is candy. I don't think I know a nurse who would be picky about Easter candy in May. And, at the end of the day, it's 100% the gesture that counts.

This exactly. As a nurse I can say that if they are that picky about candy, then they just don't want it badly enough and someone else surely will eat it. And even when people bring things in that are inedible for one reason or another, (usually it's homemade and/or has sketchy packaging) we do still appreciate the gesture.

Thanks so much for the inspiration. I put together a little amazon registry for toddler activities and my mother in law surprised me by ordering every single thing! Here's some examples:
- Wooden blocks - Animal magnets - Water Wow - Puzzles - Stickers - Tools with nuts/bolts - Lace cards - Mega blocks
Anything to keep DD engaged and active while we are resting or nursing.
