We finally got a diagnosis for my DD's fevers! She has a specific type of periodic fever syndrome involving her tonsils and lymph nodes. She should grow out of it by the time she hits grade school. Although I'm not thrilled about her having high fevers for 3 days a month, it's nice to know there's nothing worse going on.

@teresa1896 well, at least you guys have an answer now. Still sucks. Aren't therea few other moms on here whose LO has fever issues like that? I never even knew it was a thing till this board.
@embear I think @thomas930 is the other periodic fever mama. It's not super common, and they are a fairly "new" disease- I think 20 yrs ago they probably wouldn't have been diagnosed. Pretty random. They said there's no known cause for the syndrome she has either.

Curse you, my fitness pal! After two days of hitting my calorie goals and nutrition percentages right on the money, I am freaking ravenous this morning and can't go back to sleep even though Sullivan and his daddy are back to sleep. Shut up, belly, it's nap time!
@deidremaria I'm so heartbroken for your family. I'm praying for your cousin and that precious baby. Sending all of the hugs to you and your family.

I got out of my suv yesterday and landed funny on my knee. It was super sore all day and is excruciating since I've been awake. I'm a teacher, so sitting down all day is not an option. Gah it's going to be a long day. Apparently your ligaments and tendons can still be wacky even 8 months postpartum???
RE: yogurt- we get Trader Joe's organic full-fat plain. I'm not a fan of added sugar in flavored yogurts for DD, so I just mash up a half a banana or some steamed apple/pear. She seems to not mind the sourness at all, which is a win. I've also been eating a lot of yogurt, hopefully the extra probiotics help our immune systems this winter!
@embear22 culturelle packets say diary and soy free on the front. I didn't think to look on the back. I'm stupid. I'll have to look later to see what the other ingredients are. So far with the addition of more solids and probiotics yesterday his diarrhea is gone, but his butt still looks bad. Hoping it gets better! Thanks for all of the advice ladies.
A coworker accidentally had about 10 Black Friday purchases delivered to her sons dorm room. He already received an ottoman and doesn't know about the 8 bar stools and 2 large garbage cans that are on the way. She thought she had fixed the default delivery address. Guess not!!
Bahaha! That's hilarious! Inadvertently, a great idea for an April fools joke.

Yep. My little girl has PFS. I'm happy to hear you finally have an answer. Have they talked about removing her tonsils? One of my friend's little girls had the same thing and she had her anoids and tonsils removed and that stopped the fevers.
We found out that DD has a genetic marker for arthritis and its the cause of her fevers.
~Missed MC at 8 weeks. D&C at 12 weeks on 4/17/13~
@thomas930 her specific kind is PFAPA which does have some tonsil/adenoid stuff. She said tonsillectomies are 90% effective to stop the fevers but she's only 3 and they don't feel it's worth the risk of major surgery, since it's something that she will outgrow. If she had breathing difficulty or snoring they said surgery would have been an option. They recommend a small dose of steroids at the onset of fever, which should knock it out. We can choose to do that at every episode or just when it's convenient (holiday, wedding, school play, etc). The steroids would just decrease the length of time between episodes, though.

This morning I have- applied to go back to college and finish my bachelor's degree, set up a Facebook page for my new business and set up my Christmas tree (no lights or decorations yet though.) I'm feeling pretty accomplished. I need to go to target and get more formula.
The threads about mobility and teeth make me glad A has zero teeth and still stays generally where I put him.
During naptime, should I... ?
1) nap
2) binge watch via Netflix (Helix)
3) workout
4) clean
3 and 4 are not compatable with this cold though. So nap or Netflix? Such hard decisions.
Do we have the same kid? My LO is the same - no teeth, and no interest in moving unless its spinning in circles on his belly to look at a new toy.
How is everyone decorating their tree? I have breakable ornaments and I don't feel like buying all new shatterproof ones. I was thinking about getting some shatterproof ones and putting them towards the bottom but I'm not sure it'll look right if I don't find ones that are similar to original set.

Our tree is a mishmash anyway, so anything particularly breakable or sentimental went up top, and we left the bottom third bare.
DH thinks I should get to know IRL mommies and that you guys put dangerous ideas in my head like BLW and using a blanket on LO at night.
Funny thing, I had joined a local mommy group on FB so that I could do play dates. I haven't done a thing with any of them. I spend most of my time being a judgey bitch. This woman asked why her 6 week old baby wasn't STTN yet. And all the other morons were like teething, use white noise, CIO, white noise is awesome, seriously white noise.... And I was like really people?
So no. I won't be spending time with those morons.
Ye gads. And FFS. And JFC. I want to punch your mommy group.
First full day with helmet #2 for my sweet Evan! It's super medically looking, since our decorations won't arrive until next week, but I'm already seeing the silver lining. LO has taken twomake that three very hard tumbles backwards in his quest to stand up holding onto the carseat box, but has just happily gotten back up each time. I'm pretty sure he's enjoying the extra head protection, and I am certainly much less stressed about him falling. Plus, he slept better than he has in weeks - maybe the helmet is keeping his head from hitting the sides of the crib?
Really hating having to have a plain helmet for a little while though - I may go buy a santa hat today for him to wear. And, this helmet is bigger than his last one, so none of the hats I bought for the last round fit anymore (

I bought a 4' tree last year and I am soooo glad I did because it fits on a countertop and is therefore Sullivan proof. We tried letting him hold an ornament for a photo and it went straight to his mouth. No tree access for you, turd!
Michaels has a lot of $.60 wood ornaments. They have prepainted ones and ones that you can paint too. We use those on the bottom of the tree plus other painted paperboard ornaments.
@allyandmike24 I'm wondering the same thing about my ligaments/tendons. I dislocated my shoulder last week while getting frisky. Ouch.
@deidremaria I'm so sorry for your family. That is awful.
Just got back from my 16 week appt. Baby #2 is doing well. My bp was 148/91. It was just about that last time as well. I'm worried, but he said it was probably because I'm anxious and stressed. He said it won't be a big deal until 20+ weeks, but I'm even more stressed now of course. On the plus side, the ob said I could go back on my depression meds, so I'm not so crazy. Not going to care what DH thinks because I hate the way I'm feeling now. 27 days until my anatomy scan to hopefully see a healthy baby and 4 days until we find out the sex! Super excited.
@labelle0412 you're clearly doing it right. Sorry about your shoulder! I'm been limping around all day like an old lady- my students thought it was hilarious and have been imitating me.
Of course I'd get injured on the last week of Diet Bet. Have fun with my $20, A14 Fatties.
I'm filling in my calendar for the month- and realized that I have NO free weekends until literally the second week in January. Yikes. All fun things, but still.
Lastly- are you feeling any better @aprilmay9? I hope your zombie plague has passed.
Hi ladies. I know I've been MIA for a bit now, so I hope you don't mind me sharing these with you.
On 4 September 2010 Christchurch was struck by a 7.1 earthquake at 4:35am. No one was injured, but less than 6 months later, on 22 February 2011, an aftershock hit at 12:51pm causing widespread damage and 181 people lost their lives. There was a huge response internationally and I know many Americans came over for the search and rescue.
Just released in the media today are some haunting images of the cathedral in the center of Christchurch. This cathedral was an icon of the city prior to the earthquake, and it is sad and quite humbling to see something so majestic turn into basically rubble. I grew up in Christchurch and seeing the cathedral was always my way of feeling like I was home.
I know its technically late for thanksgiving, but seeing images like this make me grateful my friends are still here, and my thoughts go out to the families who lost loved ones in this disaster. And my thanks to everyone internationally who dropped everything to come to my very very small part of the world to do their bit to help those left behind.
Angel baby June 2013, DD born 22 April 2014, BFP 10 Sept 2015 - Due 22 May 2016
A friend of mine's son didn't crawl until 10 months. I remember thinking at the time 'oh, that's late!' Now I secretly hope that happens to us. Ha! Quinn gets just a little better at scooting every day and I'm just sitting here all 'nooooooo...' like the encouraging mom that I am.
DD walked at 10 months, so I was kind of hoping for a 'lazy baby'. Nope! he's moving more quickly than she is and I can't keep up.
It is insane how much I can get done when LO is sleeping and DH isn't home. I get into this super focused, efficient panic mode like I need to get as much as possible done before one of those two interrupts me.
We have an oversized ottoman instead of a coffee table and a tray on it from tj maxx I was iffy at first but I love it! Toddler mommas I just made a free video from portablenorthpole.com you personalize it to say the kids names she was sooooo excited! It was so much fun! I'll try to upload the video when I can get it on my YouTube acct:) Chases surgery is in the am! I'll post after we're done. My last post made me feel much better mostly nervous about him not eating after 6 am but this too shall pass right?
Skipping a bunch of posts to pop in! I'm bumping from the hospital, where I have been for the last few days. I ordered a new ornament for my buddy and am having it shipped directly to her, and will put the other part in the mail tomorrow.
My.MIL just texted me to say she just aigned for a package and I'm so excited to open it!
