Well, DS had a fullllll head of hair when he was born. Definitely had heartburn with him. I was saying to DH the other day, considering my acid started way earlier this time, I must be having a monkey this time.

lolol actually there was a study done to try and disprove the old wives' tale regarding heartburn and baby's hair and what they found was that there was in fact a correlation between the two It was a small study, so level of significance isn't that great, but still kinda cool. If you're nerdy like me and want to take a look, here is the link: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17150070/
As for me, I had horrible heartburn last pregnancy and my daughter was born with (and still has) plenty of hair. I guess we'll see what happens with this one but my heartburn is even worse this time around!

Speaking of heartburn, does anyone have any magical solutions? I'm so miserable. I'm still having food aversions and nausea so I'm having a hard time choosing only heartburn-friendly foods but I am taking both Prilosec and tums but remain in So. Much. Pain. I have two weeks until my next appointment but am thinking I may need to call for suggestions from my OB before then.
@clevans1 almond milk did the trick for me in my first pregnancy!! I don’t know why, but it was magical. Just drink a glass when you have heartburn. Worth a shot!!
@clevans1 I use papaya enzymes- I take them throughout the day and they have really helped. I also really like the taste (kind of fruity, but not strong).
@clevans1 ugh sorry I have no magic solutions but I’m right there with you! I’m taking Prilosec plus Pepcid as needed (usually every evening but sometimes in the morning too) and I’ve noticed the addition of the Pepcid has decreased my need for tums, though I’ll still use the tums occasionally

@manillabar, @sunny_native14, and @jfcmomoftwo - thanks so much for the suggestions! I've added almond milk to my grocery list and am looking into Pepcid and papaya enzymes. Also, I'm sorry you all are either experiencing or have experienced the same thing...not fun!
I had a really busy week at work and felt like the tension in my shoulders and neck just kept getting worse each day, which resulted in a series of terrible headaches. I got a massage on Saturday and she commented on how tight my shoulders were. So I'm going to try to do about a half hour of stretching everyday, but work won't slow down until around Thanksgiving.
I also had a number of near vomiting moments this past week. WTF, second trimester?!?
@clevans1 I've had really bad acid this pregnancy and my doc has me on a daily dose of pepcid. I take one in the morning and it keeps it from getting toooo bad.

At the risk of being TMI, constipation anyone? My GI system is a hot mess. Effort and results just aren’t matching these days. And I always eat a high fiber diet. 😔 I’m scared to take anything though, so I’ll be having a very open conversation with my OB tomorrow. 😆

OMG yes. Coffee helped me, and smooth move tea. Really tough week it took colace, 2 coffees, and 2 cups of smooth move tea.
@gatorkj Definitely not TMI in my opinion! I learned the hard way from my first pregnancy to keep on top of it to avoid hemorrhoids. I now have them permanently as a result of that pregnancy and it sucks. I took a magnesium supplement with my previous pregnancies to alleviate both muscle cramps and constipation, which worked really well for me. I'm a dietitian and tried all the diet manipulation and nothing I tried was effective (except I have to avoid bananas and limit my cheese intake because even the magnesium doesn't help if I eat too much of either of those). I am getting ready to start taking it again because the constipation is beginning to set in.
@gatorkj Definitely not TMI, and I'm in the same horrible camp as you. I find that if I take my probiotic every day, it's better but lately, not even that is helping. Ugh.

@gatorkj@juliebeannn I haven't had it hit yet, but I can recommend that when I was on keto, I definitely needed help in that department, so every day I would mix 2tbsp of chia seeds in water, let them soak up a ton of the water, and then drink it. It's a ton of fiber in one dose plus the seeds kind of help move things along in the digestive tract. It also adds omega 3s to your day, so it's a win-win.

@sunny_native14 I'm right there with you! Stand up slowly...don't make any quick movements or reach for anything too far from your reach. Try a belly band to help hold that area. Hang in there!
Terrible hip pain at night. I was already not sleeping well, but now with this, it’s gotten worse. I’m tossing and turning the entire night, constantly switching sides. I tried so hard to just sleep on my left like recommended but it was just too painful. No idea what to do. The pillow thing between my legs or under one leg doesn’t work for me, it actually made it worse when I tried. Any suggestions for relief?
@annanbby does your right side hurt? If not you can use your right side. Really either side is safe, though left is theoretically the best. Have you tried a whole body/pregnancy pillow? They really work for a lot of people.
@treebagel both sides hurt, unfortunately. Not during the day, just when I’m laying on them at night. But ya, I’ve been switching sides otherwise it’s too miserable to sleep. I may have to look into a pregnancy pillow! Last night I tried putting a pillow under both my legs so that I wasn’t laying directly on my hip and that seemed to relieve a little pain, but not all. I’ll look into that pillow though, that might be helpful.
@kloe818 I feel this in my soul. I'm irrationally irritable today and immediately regret every reaction I have to anyone. I'm sure people will be avoiding me for awhile after how emotional I've been today! It's PMS on steroids.
@clevans1 still feeling it today to a certain degree. Hubby understands, cats are avoiding. I just can't get comfortable with sciatica and my home office chair isn't working so I'm trying to make do with another chair but it's not helpful.
@annanbby I feel you in the hip pain. I am constantly switching and at some point, I get less than a minute or two before the pain starts. Mine is my hip and a little lower. I just bought a pregnancy pillow yesterday and am counting the hours til it arrives Thursday!
@juliebeannn@mvt2003 thanks for the constipation support 😫. Lol Kale salad and smoothies appear to help. I had a good week or so of relief, although today my GI seems to be grumpy again. 🤷♀️
@xvividash other than the sciatica I've been doing really well until this week when my boobs started feeling like they're getting electric shocks again.
@kloe818 OMG! That’s a thing too? 🤣 Hope you feel better soon!! Who knew all these crazy symptoms that happen when pregnant. I don’t know what I was thinking before like everything is just beautiful. 😂
@xvividash I’m surprised by some of this stuff too! Someone actually said they’d started leaking with their first baby around 21 weeks. I was like.....it happens that early?? lol and now I’m over here just waiting for a suddenly damp shirt 😂
@annanbby Yes, right there with you!! 😂 I heard that too and it’s so crazy to me! I was like what?!? Haha, I hope I don’t leak like that before little one comes. 😆
While leaking is normal, it's also normal if you don't leak! I never leaked with either of my first two pregnancies. We will see what happens with this third one!
Holy pubic bone pain! I only ever felt this when I was on my feet too long at 8+ months with my first two pregnancies. Anytime I stand up to walk, I limp the first few steps because I feel SO much pressure and soreness in my pubic bone. I can only imagine how bad it's going to be once I really start showing and gaining weight!
@clevans1 yes my hips feel like I’m already full term- cracking, sore, and I’m limping too when I get up from sitting or laying down for a while. Hope it doesn’t get much worse than this.

OMG @clevans1 This started for me this week also! At the end of the day, when I stand up after sitting for a little bit, my pubic bone is like PRESSSSUUURRREEEE. I only got lightning crotch in my last 3-4 weeks of pregnancy last time so I was so surprised. I feel like everything is happening so much quicker this time - braxton hicks, lightning crotch, lots of round ligament pain...sheesh.

@manillabar and @juliebeannn I swear I've aged 10 years since my last pregnancy with all the additional aches and pains this time around...my son is just turning 2 lol
OK today I had to go to city hall to register my car and of course they moved the registrar's office to the 3rd floor auditorium and the elevator was not an option (only 1 person or household allowed at a time) so I hoofed it upstairs. Winded at the top. Then some cervical discomfort but I was OK, attributed it to round ligament stuff. The walk back DOWN the stairs was an exercise in gravity as every step felt like the baby was bouncing forward and my cervix was like "WHO'S IDEA WAS THIS BS??" Legit exhausted.
@juliebeannn my OB warned me at my last visit that everything (all the aches, pains, struggles) would start a lot sooner the second time around. Yippee, lol
