Long version: everything looked good. Baby measured right on track. He was being a bit difficult so the tech was unable to finish. I go back in 4 weeks so they can get the rest of the images. I have an anterior placenta again this time which surprised me because I have been feeling movements and kicks for several weeks. Nothing too consistent but still feeling them daily. He has been very active today ever since we left the US. The tech measured my cervix via abdominal US but didn't comment so I am guessing all is well. Baby weighed in at 12oz.
Its not an AS, but had my fetal echo today and everything looked great! I needed an echo (ultrasound specifically of the heart done by a cardiologist) since he was an IVF baby and they have an increased risk of heart defects, but right now his heart is perfect. I love having so many extra ultrasounds to look at him. And he was so funny...he kept kicking the probe when the doctor would push down hard.
I've been uncomfortably sore all day after I was poked and prodded (not at all gently) yesterday to try and get my stubborn fetus to move into a better viewing position. Hope y'all don't have to experience the same.
@kiwi2628 glad your fetal echo was good! How long did yours take? I have one in two weeks and they are having trouble scheduling me because the nurse said it takes so long and they apparently only do it once a week.
@sliztee same here! I just want to curl up in bed. I dont remember this with ds's AS.
My first AS two weeks ago didn't leave me in pain. I guess they were trying too hard to get the baby to move into a good position...which didn't work anyway. @nmadjeski
long version: She wasn’t being a show off so honestly I don’t know if my baby is a girl. They couldn’t see boy parts so went with girl. I do have a pic that looks like girl parts. But could the boy parts be flipped up? I had an elective ultrasound at 17 weeks and was told boy (definitely looked like a boy). I do have to go back for the measurements because baby was sleepy. Any tips to make sure baby is active?
@missmaehurt exciting news!!! I can’t believe they didn’t notice the other one until now!

long version: Baby boy did not want to cooperate and I had to take a couple breaks to roll on my sides and poke him until he moved. We finally got all the pictures though and he is perfectly normal and healthy. Now to replace all the pink things with some navy blues! Yessss!
Longer version: Both babies are healthy! Baby A was completely squished by baby B the whole time, they almost looked like they fought for a minute there. Baby A punches and Baby B kicks! Haha. The whole scan took an hour so not terrible, my tech was awesome. She pointed out everything. It’s beginning to feel real and I am so excited and scared. So many feels.
AS update: I had my AS on Friday and I have my OB appointment this coming Friday. However my OB called me last night to discuss the results of my AS. Overall she said everything looks great but we have to come back as they couldn't get all the pictures of the heart (this we already knew) which she said is common. Plan was to originally go back in 4 weeks but they also found an echogenic focus on the heart so my OB was us to go back within the week. She explained this is a soft marker for Downs syndrome and trisomy 13. I had the genetic screening done in the first trimester and everything was a low risk so my OB was very positive and reassuring but its still so hard not to worry. I worked with individuals with developmental disabilities before becoming a nurse so I am not as worried about having a baby with downs syndrome as I am about Trisomy 13 which is not compatible with life. I have a phone consult with a genetic counselor tomorrow morning and I am just waiting for radiology to call me to schedule the US. Waiting is always the hardest part!

trapped in the box: Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I hope you get answers sooner rather than later!
Long verion: They said everything was great. She is measuring exactly on her due date (which tickled the OB, because he said that basically never happens. It's usually always at least a day off.) They were able to see all 4 chambers of the heart, with good heart sounds. Belly full of amniotic fluid from practice swallowing and practice breathing. Kidneys full and functional. She waved and squirmed all around. Kept turning her head/face toward us. Radiologist said I definitely do have an anterior placenta (I knew it! Lol. I felt movement way sooner with Ds and his was posterior) but it's up higher, so not obstructing cervix or anything. They said over all, it's the best the can hope for at this appointment and they aren't concerned. I will have 1 or 2 more growth scans minimum (Ds was bigger, and they are worried about her getting stuck like he did) and to keep an eye on the placenta. I've lost some more weight because of the HG but it doesn't seem to be affecting her. So yay for that!
We had our scan yesterday 19+5. Everything seemed great and looked great! Today I had my apointment with the OB and they said measurments were all proportional and there was a strong heartbeat, babys in 93%... but the tech detected a reflux in the heart so theyre sending me to a specialist for a follow up ultrasound. She suggested I do genetic screening to rule out any disorders if they did happen to find something off of my follow up. So now Im just off because im waiting for my bloodwork, the specialist to call me to schedule an appointment and my husband is in the desert for army work all of june. Nothings even wrong yet.... it’s scary though. My mind kinda went blank when she suggested something was off so I didnt even ask the questions I should have. Healthy baby otherwise, just very anxious now.
Short version it’s a boy....
Long Version... it’s a boy! That’s boy number 5 for us.. and yes I did cry!! I didn’t think I would and I couldn’t even control it.. waterworks instantly. I had to turn on my side cause he was being stubborn. But everything seemed to look good. He’s very active and measuring right on. They did comment that he is going to be short haha. Which is fine cause all of our kids are short
@cuteasadutton thinking of you in this time! Make a list of all the questions you have and if you can't see your OB soon at least see if you can call and have a conversation with them! Keep us posted!
@cuteasadutton So Sorry you are going through the stress of worrying alone. I hope you get the answers you need and that everything turns out ok with your follow up appointments!
Thank you all for your kind words, it really means a lot.
I have a follow up US on June 14th and I spoke with the genetics counselor today. She was also very reassuring and informed me the odds from my prenatal testing was <1:10000 for trisomy 13. She also said it would be likely they would see other markers for trisomy 13 as the anatomy scan is usually 85% effective at detecting trisomy 13. Same odds for down syndrome and the counselor said the anatomy scan is 50% effective at picking up on that. Overall she said it is likely this is a normal variation and that it can even go away before the next US. This was reassuring and I am trying to stay positive.
@cuteasadutton sorry you are stuck waiting too. Its so hard waiting and worrying. I am sorry your husband isn't there with you. Feel free to reach out to us here anytime. Hope they call you with the lab results soon and you get your follow up appointment soon!
