Its not an AS, but had my fetal echo today and everything looked great! I needed an echo (ultrasound specifically of the heart done by a cardiologist) since he was an IVF baby and they have an increased risk of heart defects, but right now his heart is perfect. I love having so many extra ultrasounds to look at him. And he was so funny...he kept kicking the probe when the doctor would push down hard.
Same! My little guy was torturing the tech who did our echo! Kicked or punched the wand every time she got a good angle. He was like a little acrobat in there! The whole thing took about an hour, but all looked perfectly normal.
*We weren't IVF, fetal echos are standard for diabetic moms.
@drb2424 Thanks so much. Sorry you’re waiting for answers and appointments also. I’m just attempting to stay busy and as calm and healthy as I can since there really isn’t anything else I can do... You and your situation will be in my thoughts!
Long version: we were convinced it was a girl so we were so surprised to see that it was a boy! Everything measured right on track. The US tech is actually one of my best friend’s mom so she went through everything she was measuring with us and it only took about 30 minutes because he was very cooperative. We are over the moon excited and can’t wait to start planning everything else now!
Short version: it's a boy! DS is soooo excited! Several times this evening he'll just say, I'm so glad it's a boy!
Long version: everything looked fine and the tech told me and DH everything that was going on. Took awhile to get one picture of the spine cuz he was sorta sideways, so she could get the top, and the bottom and he would NOT move! He waved and kicked a bunch and she did finally get the pic, I think. This lil dude isn't near as active as our youngest DD 4, (hallelujah!) So it didn't even take an hour all told. The tech sends it on to a radiologist, who looks as it and gives it to my Dr who will share the results with me at my next Appointment. The tech did say it all looked good and he was growing on track.
Long version: all the measurements were great and baby was sucking his/her thumb in one photo! We told the tech we didn’t want to know the sex so she just didn’t even check so that way it won’t be on my chart so there’s no chance of us getting spoiled. We finally announced the pregnancy publicly after the scan! We were too nervous to do it earlier and DH is always worried about jinxing things (we had to do IVF for this baby) so we waited. We took DD with us to the scan and she said the baby looks like an alien

Long version: Fella's flight home that morning was delayed because the bathroom wasn't working and they had to deplane and wait for another, but he made it, so we were able to go together. His work schedule has been crazy, so this was the first time he's seen or heard the baby. Everything checked out, and I have an anterior placenta, which I suspected based on other posts that I have read and not feeling much yet. Both the fella and I have had this hunch that it's a girl and have been calling her "she" off and on, so when the tech told us, I was so excited and relieved and emotional. I was trying to hold it in so she could keep doing her job, but after a few choked-back sobs, she was like, "ok, ok, let it out...I've got kleenex right here!" So we both cried. It made everything seem more real to know that she's a she.
The tech was really having to chase her around, but she got most of the shots she needed, except for the heart. She had me lie on my side for a while she got the doctor to come in. Then I flipped back and baby had moved a little, so the doc was able to get most of the angles he needed, except he couldn't see the four chambers. I was fine during all of this, but fella told me later that he was super scared they couldn't see what they needed to because something was wrong, not because the baby was just in the wrong spot. The doctor ended up passing the wand back to the tech to have her try getting the last angle of the heart. She jiggled me a little and that did the trick. The doctor reassured us that everything was measuring on track and as best as they can tell, there aren't any problems.
I saw my OB the week before the scan, and I don't go back for a few more weeks, so I was glad that they had a doctor come in to tell us everything is looking good so far. I have no idea if there's more to go over with my OB later, but they said he'd get the full report this week.
Long version: everything with baby looks great, she is measuring right on track and weighs 13oz. They did refer me to a perinatalogist for a more detailed scan of a cyst on my right ovary. I mentioned before that I had one about the size of a tennis ball that they were monitoring. It's grown about 1/2 cm each time so they just want to make sure it's endometrial cells and not a cancerous tumor or something more concerning. I'm sure it's nothing and until there is something to worry about I'm not going to stress over it.
Long version: Dr. said everything with baby looks great, he is measuring right on track and weighs 15oz. DH and I laughed when the scan started because the first view baby gave us was his legs in the air showing off his ass. He was squirming all over-shaking his head, waving his arms, and he head butted me. I have to go back in 2 weeks because they couldn't get a pick of his lower spine- he was using my cervix as a seat and wouldn't move. The Dr said it should be fine they just needed that pic. All in all it was great to see baby again!
long version: another super uncooperative baby (both my other two wouldn’t show something at their first AS as well) - I have to go back in two weeks as the tech couldn’t get a bunch of the shots he needed and baby refused to move out of the position xe was in. We learned very little but did get to see baby kicking and we know for sure it has at least one arm, one leg, and a spine. The tech gave us very little information beyond that so I’m hoping my midwives will call and let me know what shots were missing and that everything was normal with what they did see.
Short version: team green so the tech didn't even look!
Long version: Baby looks good! It's a mover and shaker, but the tech got all her pictures. The tech was great and explained everything. Said there was no medical reason to check the sex if we didn't care. HB at around 150's and no red flags or concerns. Measuring a couple days ahead but no big shift and 14oz. Baby played with feet, toes, legs the majority of the time but kept flipping so I think they'll be able to keep up with DS (though whether or not we'll keep up with them no one knows. Ha ha.)
Supposed to see the dr immediately after, but she was at the birth center for a possible c-section, so we saw an NP instead. She said everything looked good, and another dr looked over it all.
Short version : still a boy! I've got the weenie pics to prove it
Long Version: had my scan today at 20+3. I had nightmares last night that my tech refused to speak LOL! but my tech was great, explained everything and showed us some great views. Baby is head down and has his feet up with his ankles crossed, just relaxing like he's lounging at the beach. It was too cute. The tech also had a hard time getting the right shots of the heart so the doctor had to come in. She had me lie on my side and kept wiggling my belly around to get the baby to move in the right position. It had me worried that there were issues, but she just needed the right angles. Baby is measuring 13oz and everything looks good. (I also got news today that I got the $1000 PB rocker that I wanted for $150 on a buy sell swap site so I'm elated!! just getting it reupholstered and I pick up Saturday. I'll probably cry when it goes in the nursery)
AS Update: I went back for the repeat scan yesterday (22+1) to check on the echogenic focus on baby's heart and to get the rest of the images of the heart. OB messaged me last night that all is well but the echogenic focus is still present. At this time there are no other markers for Trisomy 13 or Down Syndrome so she again reassured me it is likely a normal finding. I feel pretty good after seeing him again. He was moving all around and kept doing flips. The tech was great and very thorough. She took lots of cardiac images and then spent some time showing us the baby move around. He is weighing in at 1lb 5oz and seems to be measuring on track. I feel positive that all will be ok and I am excited to be able to relax a bit on our vacation next week! Thanks again for all your kind words and support
Had my AS last week and it was really fun to see baby. We had a follow-up appointment with the doctor the following day and learned that baby has 2 choroid plexus cysts, so we will have a level 2 ultrasound next week. At this point, there are no other indicators of T18, so Dr. is optimistic that everything is ok. A little nerve wracking, but I'm definitely feeling positive at this point.
I had my repeat anatomy scan yesterday at what was supposed to be 23+6. Baby is indeed a boy, the first shot we saw was boy bits. We are measuring small at 22+5. They want to adjust my due date to 10/14, but I just can’t believe we are really a week behind. I know when I ovulated and I have been so sick this whole pregnancy. Baby’s estimated weight is 1lb 5oz right now.
Finally had my AS today at 21 weeks 3 days. Doctor said everything looks great, baby is measuring right on track and weighs just under 15 oz. We have a rough guess of baby being a girl, doctor couldn’t give a for sure answer. I am happy with a healthy baby and didn’t have a preference. STM’s is there always another ultrasound before delivery? Was hoping for a more definitive sex reveal so that I could prepare more.
@jennybean80 I don’t fit in to either of those categories right now. So I will go with Team pink as we could definitely see three lines between the legs. And there was no sign/glimpse of a penis
@jandmnumber1 I don't think I'm considered high risk either, but I do have another scan at the MFM office at 32 weeks to check growth because I have hypothyroidism. So far, baby was good though
@jandmnumber1 fwiw, they couldn't tell was DD was during the AS, but we saw 3 lines and no penis so they also guessed girl and she came out a girl. I'm convinced that we just got a crabby tech.

Oh FYI I live in Canada I definitely know another scan wouldn’t be covered unless if the doctor wanted to see baby again. I also live in a small town so booking a 3D ultrasound is not an option. We will just go with the doctors original guess and just be glad that we have a healthy baby. I can’t wait for October now
I only have another one at 28 weeks to check placenta location bc it was too close to cervix during AS (for regular delivery) ...I’m not sure how much baby I’ll get to see.
I think it depends on your DR. My office does a 37w ultrasound because mostninsurances cover 3 ultrasounds. So with my first two I got a third ultrasound at 37w. They basically look at baby’s position and size. In my case both babies were measuring over 8lbs at that point lol and the tech was spot on with sizes! This time around I’ll be getting a third ultrasound at 32 Weeks I think...a little earlier bc they see I have a low lying placenta. They weren’t concerned about it but since I’m planning a vaginal delivery they have to make sure it’s not PP at that stage.
