The short version is: it’s a girl and healthy. Initially we weren’t going to find out to do a reveal with our moms for mother’s say but we caved and found out. I’m glad we did so my DH and I could share that moment together without others (besides the tech). That also allowed us to enjoy our moms reactions.
The long version is: The tech was very chatty and told us about everything she was doing. She told us everything looked good and then left to review the images with the doctor. The doctor came in to take her own images and then told us the baby has a choroid plexus cyst, which is not considered an abnormality or birth defect but can be a soft marker for trisomy 18. Since she didn’t see any other soft markers she was not worried since trisomy 18 almost always has several soft markers present (other organ development issues, clenched fists, etc). Of course I panicked and she said I could do the panorama blood screening so we did that and it came back low risk so I think my nerves are calmed down now.
Short version: Still a boy and we need to do a follow-up echo.
Long version: Everything went generally well. My mom, mother-in-law and husband were able to join me which was really nice. It was fun to see their excitement about the whole process! We started with his heart because it was the first thing she found and his heartbeats were a bit irregular. They regulated as the scan went on but because of the initial irregularity the doctor recommended I do a follow-up echo in about 3 weeks. They also found one of the kidneys to be on the large size. It measured at 3.5 and from what I've read online under 4 is normal, but for now the plan is just to check back at 32 weeks, so it may resolve itself anyway. Everything else checked out normal. He's 10oz and I was 18+5. I'm waiting to hear from my OB and get the echo scheduled. From what I've read both the heartbeat the kidney thing are relatively common and typically fix themselves, so we're not too stressed.
@mamabearcj OMG that is wild!! Congratulations! Twins run in my family and we are always holding our breath at that first ultrasound!
Short version - still team green! Have to go back in 2 weeks for spine photos as babe wouldn't cooperate.
Long version - tech this time was much friendlier than my last tech thankfully. Lots of small talk. Everything looked good. Baby would not move for this spine pics she was poking it and had me do jumping Jack's lol nothing. So many questions i forgot to ask like how big baby was measuring and percentile etc. I'll ask doc at my appt next week. My husband was really leaning towards finding out the sex, so it was really tough to make the final call to stay team green but I'm excited!!
The short version is: He is still a healthy baby boy
The long version is: He is still a healthy baby boy. Lol. Seriously, it was easy and was with a MFM doctor instead of a tech, so I got a play by play. I do have to have a fetal echo scheduled for a few weeks from now- everything int he heart looked great, but IVF babies require one as they do have an increased incidence of heart issues, so we will do that soon
Short version: It's a girl! Which I knew from the testing, but it was still cool to have it confirmed.
Long version: Everything looks great with the baby, but I have a bilobed placenta. The doctor said that could be an issue if the cord were attached in the wrong way, but baby is measuring right to schedule so she isn't concerned. It could be a problem for me during the delivery if they don't get it all out, but hopefully they'll know to keep an eye out for it.
On the plus side, I got a picture of my baby trying to eat her foot!
Short version: Everything looks great (except for toes, which we couldn't count because little one was sitting on them - and bouncing on my bladder).
Long version: Baby's measurements are all right in line with where they should be. He/she was cooperatively uncooperative while we were getting leg shots and had their hand over their reproductive bits, so we didn't even have to look away to keep the surprise intact.
Short Version: It's a boy and a girl! (We already knew it was twins)
Long Version: My AS got moved up a week because I had bled in the middle of the night out of nowhere. Turns out I have another SCH (I had a small one that resolved around 8 weeks previously). Limited activity, pelvic rest, etc etc. It's near my cervix and not near the babies or the placentas which is good, but the concerns are that it could grow or force my water to break. So basically now I'm scared to move
Otherwise everything looked great- both measured about 9 oz at 18 weeks, 3 days.
1st cycle of IVF started April 9, 2017. ER- 15R, 7M, 5F, 4 frozen, 1 transferred. BFN
May 2017- Hysteroscopy
June-August 2017- 2nd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 08/10/17. BFP, but ended in a chemical.
November 2017- Hysteroscopy
January 2018- 3rd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 01/25/18. BOLD BFP on a HPT on 1/31, Beta # 1 on 2/5= 721. Beta # 2 on 2/7- 1903. 6wk+3 day scan revealed twins!
@mamabearcj OMG congrats!!! I remember you saying in a different thread that you were kind of wondering if it might be twins. That is awesome news, twice the love and fun! Can’t wait to hear what they are! When I first read your “short version” I thought you might have been joking with us lol
@jennybean80 thank you! I'm a horrible lurker in our own board is there a thread for expecting multiples?? Ill lurk for sure and start getting involved for sure❤❤
Long version: baby boy is measuring a few days ahead (which he has been for every scan since my initial one). Everything looks great, including his kidneys - they paid extra attention to those because with DS we found out at 35 weeks that he had multicystic dysplastic kidney so only one kidney works. It’s not a huge deal but it requires we pay closer attention to his diet and blood pressure, and he sees a nephrologist. We just wanted to be aware of that upfront if it was the case, but baby boy’s kidneys are good. I have partial placenta previa so they just have to scan me more frequently to make sure it moves up before we get to the end.
20.4 and it went really well I cant believe how much hes grown in 3 weeks. I was scared as I went by myself because they didn't allow kids and they kept asking about down syndrome and my blood pressure was high before the ultrasound. I went in had the scan then they put me in a consulation room and thats when I got really scared. But the mfm said do you know why your here? I said no and he just said youre higher risk because of conceiving so soon and then left a deep breath out and was like oh ok my OB didnt tell me that I was seeing a mfm just thought it was for the ultrasound. Baby was kicking and hasnt liked the pushing from the ultrasound wand every time. I felt him so much during it and he wouldn't budge he was not gonna look at me. The us tech pushed on belly with the wand up and down several times and it kinda made me mad but glad its done. I have an anterior placenta and he is 12oz last Thursday. Hope everyone elses went well with no surprises.
Had mine yesterday at 18+6. Probably the coolest thing I have ever seen!
Short version: it’s a girl! We decided not to wait and found out.
Long version: the scan itself was pretty easy and straightforward. The tech was nice and explained to us exactly what she was seeing and looking for because she knows we are both medical people. Baby is measuring right on schedule, everything looks healthy. The tech wanted her to flip over to get some other views but she is stubborn like her mama and would not move, just wiggled her arms and legs a lot. We asked for the sex to be sealed in an envelope and opened it at dinner last night. They wrote “Think pink!” DH has wanted a boy all along but he is so over the moon excited for this little girl! It’s so cute!
Short version: It's a boy!! Baby boy #3 and we're so excited!!
Long version:Baby boy was curled in a ball and finally opened his legs to show his penis! Everything looks good! He's measuring about 10 days ahead and I wouldn't be surprised if my ob wants to change my due date at my next appt.
“Think pink” I love that!!! So cute thatbthey didn’t just simply write boy or girl! So happy for everyone!
Ours was last week on Monday. Got really good pictures of the goods but we didn’t look had them seal it in an envelope. Will do a reveal party on June 16!
the tech was really helpful and explained everything to us. I have never been more mesmerized!! Especially with the 3d images. The only thing they told me that freaked me out a little was that there’s a small amount of fluid in baby’s kidneys but she said that’s normal, as sometimes the bladder gets full and it overflows. Baby also had hiccups and it was the cutest thing ever. They also confirmed anterior placenta
Just had my scan this morning at 19+6 weeks and I was amazed how cool it was.
Short version: It is a BOY! My suspicion was correct and DH is thrilled that his family name will carry on as he was the last!
Long version: The baby was very active and moving around a lot but he kept his arms close to his chest and it cast a shadow onto the heart so I need to go back to get a clearer look at it next week. The tech wasn't able to tell me all the results but DH saw the results and they all looked in the normal range. I have my follow up OB appointment next week to find out. Will update if anything changes.
Me 33 DH 41 TTC since 2016 Due: October 12, 2018 Location: Ontario, Canada
Long Version: babies went from transverse to A breech/B head down during the scan. A is 305g (11oz) and B is 273g (10oz). Still no evidence of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, so that’s good. They couldn’t get a great look at A’s spine, but we’ll be back in two weeks anyway so they’ll try to get an image then.
Thanks ladies! Ha! O+ doesn't seem as strong! FX for all who have their AS coming up! Side note, every time I see AS I think someone is posting about Anal Sex...
