Thanks ladies! Ha! O+ doesn't seem as strong! FX for all who have their AS coming up! Side note, very time AS see this I think someone is posting about Anal Sex...
I just had my A/S today at 20w 3d. It was fun seeing a more defined baby but he (yes definitely a he now!) was being shy and hiding his face in the depths of my uterus. I havent seen the dr’s comments yet but the tech said everything looks good and that baby is in the 80th percenile size-wise. I know that can change but I’m super curius how big this kid will be because I’m 5’0 and DH is 6’3”
Long version: We were Team Green (against DH’s wishes), but as soon as ultrasound tech found baby it was his little booty and his legs wide open making it VERY clear he was a boy! She was super sweet and said “Well, I didn’t even get a chance to tell you guys to look away!” We are so excited!! Baby looked perfect and is measuring a few days ahead (which he has from the beginning) and is 76th percentile. Doctor said one kidney was measuring around 4 (mm maybe?), which is “average” but he wants to do another u/s at 28 weeks to see if it’s resolved itself. He said it was super common, especially in boys, and majority of the time resolves itself before baby is born. I have seen a couple other comments on here with similar results so it seems to be common? Anyone else have this come up on this baby or previous ones?
I believe that @cdepperschmidt is the other mom in this group whose baby’s kidneys were measuring large at the AS. If I recall correctly, they referred her to an MFM, but said not to worry in the meantime (good luck with that). If she pops back in, she may have an update- but I would guess she hasn’t had the follow-up appointment yet.
Short version: It is a BOY! My suspicion was correct and DH is thrilled that his family name will carry on as he was the last.
Ugh that kinda drives me crazy as a reason. Just because it’s a boy doesn’t mean he won’t change his last name, and many girls don’t change their last names nowadays! I’m glad he’s excited it’s a boy, but that line of reasoning is a pet peeve of mind as it feels so... old school. Honestly my husband, who is super progressive, said the same thing about his last name carrying on when we found out this is a boy, which surprised me. I don’t get why it matters to dudes so much!
@HoosOnFirst - It genuinely bothered me when I was married that if we had kids, they would have my ex’s name, and not mine. I asked my ex to take my name instead and he looked at me like I had grown a second head.
Short version: still very much a boy, and he was so active. Trying to avoid the ultrasound tech at all costs
long version: it wasn’t good. I got a sneak peak at the screen before the Dr came in and knew my measurements were behind. According to the MFM Dr baby’s legs are measuring 2 weeks behind. I know from what I saw on the screen that his cerebellum is measuring at 17w6d. I’ve been ordered to get an echo, an MRI, and he recommended an amino. Because I had the panorama earlier and my results were negative for all abnormalities they want more clear answers because those measurements could indicate chromosomal abnormalities (could be down syndrome, but could also be skeletal dysplasia). He said there’s a chance that it could resolve itself but there’s also a chance it could be something more. I’m being as strong and calm as I can be but it was tough to hear. We see our OB next week, then we see MFM again the day after to give them a sure answer on the amino and idk what else for. I’m definitely nervous and a little sad. I’ll keep you all updated as I get more results/answers.
***edited to add that I was also told I have placenta previa. He didn't indicate partial or full, and I think in comparison to my son's measurements it wasn't as big of a deal so he didn't go further into it except to abstain from vaginal intercourse. But I know, because I've had friends with it, that it could mean quite a few things including the need for a c-section. So we'll see. I also know from my internet research (lol) that his small size could also be my placenta's fault so just waiting to speak to my OB next week.
@princessandthegator thinking of you!! Hopefully thing resolve themselves and either way you get answers and aren't left wondering. Keep staying strong❤
@HoosOnFirst I think because he is the last boy AND younger generation in the family with the last name so he was concerned that it might not continue. He has a very small family and most of them are older or the women have changed their names. I think he also really wanted a boy in general so maybe is saying that as an excuse? I agree that it's not the only way these days to continue the family name.

@princessandthegator I am so sorry your appointment didn’t go well. Thinking of you and LO and will keep you in our prayers. Hoping everything works itself out!
@princessandthegator I’m so sorry to hear your scan was less than comforting. My mind would be going a million miles a minute. I hope the additional tests provide answers and that all is well!
@midwestmom12 yup it was me. Both kidneys are measuring at 5mm. However, my doc said 4mm was normal. I have a level 2 U/S with MFM on Tuesday and will update when I know more. My doctor told me basically what you said though, it usually resolves on it’s own.
@princessandthegator I’m so sorry that you are going through this and the results were unexpected. Hope the doctor can give you better news next week and the stress will be lifted. Hang in there
@princessandthegator sorry to hear you are on edge after your appointment from up in the air news. Do the best you can to take care of you and prayers for a good outcome.
@princessandthegator- sending love and hope your way. Any sign of abnormalities while pregnant can be incredibly scary. Hang in there and I hope you get good news with further testing.
@princessandthegator I’m sorry to hear this! I hope you find out good stuff soon.
@chyvie I hear ya. My husband is one of a few guys left with his family name and half are gay and not having kids (never say never but they’ve said they are not interested in them). So I guess I understand the weird feeling that the name you grew up with might not exist forever. Although as a woman, who is societally expected to give up her name, I’m not quite as sympathetic.
I did end end up changing my name when I got married, only because I like my husband more than my dad.
Thanks ladies! On the one hand, the Dr only mentioned the limbs so I want to think positive but he also ordered alot of exams. An echo and an MRI, plus he strongly recommended the amnio (and assured us our Dr would as well), so those in themselves concern me that maybe there's more there they aren't mentioning.
I’m so sorry to hear that. My understanding of the amnio is that it is a diagnostic test rather than a screening, while the blood tests in 1st Tri are screenings. Basically, that means that an amnio will give you a definitive yes/no on whether your little one has the condition they are looking for rather than a probability.
Keeping you in my thoughts as you go through this.
@princessandthegator will be thinking of you and praying that you get good news!
Regarding the last name thing.. I had all the paperwork filled out after we got married and then ended up having a mini-identity crisis and didn't change it. Its weird how its not uncommon now for women to keep their name, yet so many people I encounter still can't wrap their head around it. DD and this baby will have DH's last name as it's very important to him (his dad wasn't in the picture and he has his mom's last name). With that being said, his family is so boy-obsessed that it makes me sick sometimes. I get hoping for one sex over another, but they've taken the disappointment to a whole other level when I had DD and when my SIL's had their girls.

Thinking of you @princessandthegator! If you’re comfortable and feeling up to it, keep us posted on how you are doing and appointments. We are here for you!
@melopoly DH and I are similar, I'm 5'4" and DH is 6'6". Luckily DD didn't sprout until after she exited my body. She was 19.75in when she was born, now she's 95th percentile for height.
@princessandthegator FX for a positive follow up! Sorry you have to go through all this stress
Re: AW - Anatomy Scan
My Mom is Rh negative, but my brother and I are both Rh positive.
