The short version is: still team green and baby wasn't being a show off so it made it easier to not 'see' anything. U/s done at 20w1d
The long version is: Scan went well, baby was sitting very very low and either very sleepy or just being darn stubborn. Tech said I must pee all the time and not much as baby was very cozy on my bladder. We didn't want to find out and baby helped by keeping legs tight. Tech was able to eventually see after we looked away and there was much wiggling of my belly trying to get baby to wake up and move! I have an anterior placenta so that confirms why I haven't felt this kid moving! FTM and no clue if we will be able to or will have more kids and I am bummed I am missing out on the movements that I potentially should be feeling already. I AM very happy as baby is healthy and about 12oz. They will be doing another u/s as my placenta is near my cervix. Normally they move away from the cervix as the uterus grows/stretches but they want to make sure. Positive side of this is we get to see the kid again in like 10-12 weeks! I had asked on the questions thread about how they check the cervix for the AS as I had read medical things online and they all said trasvaginal u/s to check it. Have had those before and was hoping it was just going to get a regular abdominal u/s. Few on the thread had said theirs were checked with the abdominal and surprise surprise, I got the transvaginal. I can't remember if they mentioned they do the TV u/s because of the location of my placenta or if it was standard for them. I want to say standard. Regardless since my placenta is near the cervix currently I am glad for a bit more peace of mind knowing my cervix is doing what it is supposed to!
So, ladies, how was your scan? Share anything you like about it here!
@DunkinDecaf oh I am so sorry! I just figured a separate post would be better for everyone to share in vs being randomly scattered in other topics. It warms my heart so much how we know one another yet don't and we care so much about one another and their babies!
Short: Baby is still a boy (which we had confirmed with our MaterniT 21 test). Our scan was at 18w5d.
Long: Baby is curled up against my right pelvic, with his feet near my bladder. In all 3 US I've had, he hasn't been super active and they've had to search a bit for what they need to see. Took the tech a bit to get all the heart pictures she wanted. Some willing and moving on my part. I'm hoping a sleepy baby in utero will transfer to a good sleeper once he's here. I did get to see him move a little, which was awesome. He's weighing 9oz, which they said was 47th percentile, nice and average. This made me happy to hear as I'm a little nervous to have a big boy! My favorite part is seeing his little heart beat, and the close up of his foot we got.
The were able to check my cervical length via abdominal US. They also confirmed that my placenta is against the rear of my uterus, right in the middle. Didn't say anything about the cord though.
Long version: Quad Test came back Negative for everything & She has all her pieces and parts - 10 oz / 48th percentile so pretty average. Overall all, healthy baby girl! I’m in the same boat as @SweetSweetTooth ... my placenta is currently 1.5 cm from my cervix (needs to be at least 2 for regular delivery) ... I had an internal ultrasound to determine that - they’ll check again at 28 weeks but my doctor was very confident it would move 1/2 cm so not a huge concern, may just need to have a c section.
Hi everyone! So far I have been a lurker but waiting for the right moment to try to jump in. I had my AS on 5/14 at 19 weeks 4 days of my mono/di twins.
Short version: I am having two boys but I did genetic testing so we have known that for a while.
Long version: The ultrasound went well but it took forever. I was scanned for almost 3 hours as the boys were being very energetic and a bit stubborn. But everything measured well. At my 16 week ultrasound they had mentioned some potential issues with baby A's cord (velamentous cord and cord flow concerns), however, this ultrasound didn't show any issues. The doctor think that Baby A's cord is so low and attached to the end of the placenta, that it was just hard to get a good reading last time. So I was definitely happy with the outcome. Baby A is approximately 10 oz and baby B is 12 oz.
The short version is: Baby has two feet, so we are officially Team T-Rex! Whoop-whoop!
The long version is:
Seeing baby’s heart fluttering and the little valves going a mile a minute was so awesome. I want to do it again!!
Also- fingers and toes- oh my!
Guncle went with me, and I was so glad to have him along. His excitement and mine fed off of each other. The ultrasound tech was awesome, and didn’t get frustrated when I would giggle and mess up the picture. She talked through what she was seeing (in generic terms) and engaged with is conversationally.
Had mine today! 20w6d! Now taking the rest of the day off from work to hike with my friend in the Hudson Valley!
Short version: Still team green! Baby was very uncooperative and it took them forever to see anyway, they almost had me come back!
Long version: I think everything is fine. Strong heart beat, everything looked in the right place. Tech didn’t tell me much other than when to close my eyes. At one point she called a dr in which scared the crap out of me and DH but it turned out it was just to see if he could get the readings she couldn’t. Dr apparently saw genitals and said congratulations to us at the end, so I’m taking that as a good sign. I’ll feel better when I talk to the midwife in a day or two though.
Long Verison: The scan went pretty well. The tech who did the scan was the same one that did DS’s scan. The pictures were amazing. Everything looks good expect her kidneys. They are supposed to be less than 4mm, but they both measuring at 5mm. My doctor told me this is fairly common, but she referred me to MFM for further testing. I called today and set up my appointment for next Tuesday. I go back and forth between being anxious about this and feelings okay. I will update next week.
Yay a spot that I can jump back in on and not feel akward!
Short Version: It’s a girl!
Long Version:
U/s at 20 weeks, baby measuring 20 w 2 days and weighed 12 oz. We were originally set for team green, but our kids stressed the importance of needing to know so we caved. This is baby number three and our second girl. The scan went well, the pictures we got were not that great, which makes me sad, but overall super happy that this baby is healthy.
Seeing all these good results makes me a little more relaxed about my AS next Tues so thanks for that! They were able to move my appointment from 9am to 6pm and I’m so excited because now DH will be able to be there!! (huge relief to not have to go alone)
Short version: Everything checked out and we found out it's a boy!
Long version: Went in pretty optimistic but this was the first time MH and I were actually super nervous/anxious by the end. I'm a FTM, and the first scan I had was with an awesome tech who kept talking about what we were seeing (without saying anything too specific) and made us super relaxed. This time the tech was completely stoic, barely said a word, and just kept clicking away. Didn't get any great pictures, which is fine because I just wanted to make sure they got what they needed for the scan.
After the end of the scan she left to speak to the doctor and left us alone for about 15-20 minutes which is what initially got us really nervous. Then she came back and said the doctor requested more pictures which she took and left again to review, which just amped up the adrenaline for me. I turned to MH and was like "is being this nervous all the time what parenthood feels like??"
When she got back she handed us the pictures and said we could leave, which at that point we were like "when will find out the results??" She then casually just informed us that everything was fine. Thank goodness! Baby weighs in at 9oz, which compared to the bump app I thought was kind of big but reading posts online seems like it's in a normal range, which is awesome. Just wish she had better bedside manner, but once we were able to let out a sigh of relief we were able to celebrate that everything is looking good!
Long version: DH and I went to our apt and as soon as she started she quick scanned my whole belly and asked if we knew it was twins! I said "excuse me what?!" And she was like surprise! She thought I had my dates wrong because I look like I'm 28 weeks not 21. DH is in complete shock.. We asked her to write down what they are because we're doing a reveal with parents on Saturday and I'm so excited! Baby A has an anterior placenta, baby B has a regular placenta. A weighs about 1lb B weighs 1lb1oz. They have their own sacs, their own placentas, and they are fraternal! A's heartbeat was at 150 and B's was 149 and when we went to the follow up with my OB she listened and A was 163 and B was 160 so totally normal she said. They're measuring a week ahead but their due date won't change unless they measure at least 10 days ahead or behind so we're sticking with 10/5 still! I am honestly in shock and so glad I can tell you ladies because this is going to be a huge secret for the next 4 days!!
@mamabearcj and you were just saying how there was a small chance! Oh my goodness! I can't imagine not finding out until almost 21 weeks that I was having twins. Congrats!
Short version: Everything is perfect and it's a girl (which we knew )
Long version: I have an anterior placenta and the babe is feet down, which explains a lot of what I've been feeling lately. I have no idea how big LO is or how much she weighs, they didn't tell us. We could tell from the u/s that she has DH's feet just like DD. They had us do our NIPT and anatomy scan at the MFM and we're officially not high risk and only need to see the OB from now on.
@mamabearcj congrats!! what a big surprise! so many family members kept saying 'it could be twins' to us, they only saw one on our u/s Anyone know if the pictures they took during the u/s are normally stored at all? I thought the tech printed a picture of a foot shot she took as I gushed... awww cute foot! but that didn't happen. Want to know if it is worth asking if they are kept and I can get one!
Thanks ladies!!! It's going to take a little bit to sink in but we're stoked! Hoping for one of each! DH didn't faint lol but he went really quiet for most of the AS I think he's going to be in his own head for a couple of days and I can't really blame him! Time to start doubling up on registry items!
@SweetSweetTooth she printed pics as we went along and We got a strip of them at the end of what she thought was cute pics but she almost forgot to give them to us after! I'm sure they have them on file some where because they have so many things they have to measure and look at! At your next appointment or even call the office and ask if you could get some of the pictures they have. It'd be worth the ask at least
The short version is: (sex) Still a girl! I just told family b/c I wanted to make sure!
The long version is:
Uneventful. Have an anterior placenta which is why I feel her more on the sides. Everything looked great. I didn't get length/weight but she is in the 80th%.
I had my anatomy scan on Friday 5/18 at 20 weeks, 4 days!
Short version: It’s a girl!
Long version: She’s measuring right on track and everything looks good! She was moving around and practically doing flips during my last U/S and was a bit more relaxed on Friday. She decided to waive hello, though!

I asked for a heart picture and I didn’t get one either.
That said- it is worth asking. I assume the whole video is part of our medical records somewhere.
