Symptoms, symptoms, and more symptoms!

Re: Symptoms, symptoms, and more symptoms!

  • +1 to pregnancys being completely different, both boys, last time I was fine beside the massive swelling (preeclampsia, wouldn't have even noticed beyond the swelling) small amount of nausea, horrid heartburn.

this time, massive amounts of Pelvic/hip/back pain, been nauseous pretty much daily since 5 weeks vomiting occasionally, the huge SCH that bled for 6 weeks straight, carrying much higher, no rib pain, belly button is about to pop, BH's almost constantly, out of breath much easier, less cravings, my stomach muscles have separated this time (probably because with a toddler I have to get up and down more often so put more pressure on them)

theyre both so different and I don't believe even slightly in the old wives tales about gender any more.

T-minus 2 days until full term... c'mon little man, you know that you want to come early... please?

Also at my US last week he was measuring 7lb 2oz which is a little more than DS would've been at this point (he was 7lb 12oz at 38w) so if I go to 40+ weeks I'm also looking at 9+lb O.o

Sheer poetry my friend. I'm sorry they're so steadfast on it...

TMI alert, I had a contraction while pooping today at work. Anyone else experience that?!

Regularly, infact contractions make me feel like I need to poop, the worst one is being kicked in the colon while trying to poop... I won't miss that -.-

  • I've been feeling great finally, but this LO moved into a position yesterday and refuses to move. Breathing is overrated anyways...
  • Pretty sure I keep getting a foot sticking out right below my sternum...that's new...at least he must be head down, right? If that is a foot...

  • Getting some low pelvic cramping this morning. Not sure if it's baby dropping down or just some pregnancy fun.

  • @cato99 I say go with May 8th then!

My newest symptom is abdominal pain. Not stretching pain, not diarrhea or constipation pain, just some very odd hard-to-place diffuse abdominal pain. It's almost like heartburn, but all over (pelvis and up). It feels like gas pain a bit, but I'm not gassy and I don't actually feel like it's gas pain or heartburn. Mystery of today, that's all. Tomorrow I have nothing on my agenda, so I can't wait to relax and sleep, pain or not.
  • @jayandaplus I've had to feeling since Saturday night (I'm 36+5 today). It feels like I've eaten something wrong, but I can't think of anything that could get me that sick. Abdominal pain plus some contractions. My doctor says if there is no other symptom of labor (diarrhea or muccus plug popping or liquid loss), it is probably just a stomach stuff.
  • Just dawned on me...this low pelvic cramping feeling. Is this the baby hitting my cervix that all of you low carriers have been talking about? I'm so used to baby being so high I only get rib jabs, but they have dropped a bit.

  • When baby hits my cervix (or what I think is my cervix) I feel like it's more of a sharp twinge. Maybe it's a nerve he's hitting that's causing it? Everything is such a mystery, it drives me crazy!
  • It truly is. I'll just go with pressure and whatever, haha. There's a baby in there and I love it, but it's causing me mysterious discomfort.

  • @nda_roxybabe Baby has been low for me and is now moving higher. I used to get a lot of bladder punches, and now it's more rib punches. I also think, based on my experience, it's baby changing position? So probably baby dropping lower on you, yes, and maybe the change of baby's position.

There's a dumb bureaucratic two-day due-date discrepancy at my OB which seems so trivial, but under the May 8th due date I thought we were operating with it's a relief to be able to say I'm 37 weeks today and thus full term, as opposed to the May 10th due date woven out of sheer satanic lies that has me waiting two more excruciating days for that milestone (guess which one the office is locked into!). It somehow makes the symptoms feel more overwhelming.
OTOH unless you have some reason you're inducing/c-sectioning early, if you think you're full term now it's just going to feel all the longer that you have to wait until the baby actually comes. And you're more likely to be overdue if you consider your date May 8 than if it's May 10. The feeling of being overdue is the WORST.

So do whatever works for you psychologically, but for me assuming I'll go late or that my date is off in that direction (i.e. I think it might be 5/13 or 5/14, not 5/11), it will help when you get to the very end. Also helps if you tell people that...otherwise they'll be asking about whether you've had the baby yet when you have not, and it's really depressing!

  • @nda_roxybabe the low cramping feeling could be braxton hicks. I just started getting low cramping like period cramps this weekend and per Dr. those are BH. Might be the same???
  • My lower back is killing me. I don't know if I did too much today or what.
  • @thistlenweeds I know!! It would be nice. I know someone who was 7 cm and walking around not in labor. She was like that for a week and a half before she was induced! How horrible!

  • I'm pretty sure this is just me being crazy and forgetting what things felt like last time but I swear I feel the most achy crampy discomfort right along where my cesarean scar was. Anyone else know what I mean?

Im pretty sure it's just my brain mixing up lower ute pain with something irrelevant but I'm not 100%.

  • My poor sausage feet - they are so swollen I had to go up one shoe size and the sweating. Ugh, if I'm going to sweat this much I'd rather be working out. Not sitting at my desk typing.
  • It would be so much more satisfying if dilation and effacement actually told us something about approach of labor, wouldn't it?? I know you can walk around for weeks with some degree of dilation and effacement and it drives me nuts. Lol. (This was brought to you by my cervical check earlier this morning: 2cm dilated, 80% effaced.)
One of my friends was walking around at 5cm for TWO WEEKS.

The pelvic pain and cramping today is really driving me crazy and making me nervous. It's not coming in waves or anything - it's more like a constant ache or cramp. This is normal, right? I mentioned it to my doctor today and he said just make sure I'm drinking enough water, which I am... but I don't feel reassured. I'm 34 weeks.

ETA: Up in the MOTN and so is baby with his hiccups. I'm reading through ticker changes and obviously pelvic pain is normal. Now I feel dumb for being worried. I'm not usually a hypochondriac, I swear!

  • Heightened sense of smell today...more so than early preggo symptoms. Never had this with my first. I'm 37+3 weeks...anyone ever experience this...sign of labor looming around the corner??
  • @WombThereItIs I've heard of C-section scars hurting as the belly stretches a lot.

Good lord! 2 weeks at 4cm is driving me insane. I can't imagine anything more than that.

I've had a heightened sense of smell too for a couple of weeks that I don't remember noticing with either of my previous pregnancies.

Me too! And also don't remember it with my first - super weird! Like I could smell the apples in my kitchen fruit basket that has always had fruit from the living room couch and every time I walk by this unlit candle I get a strong whiff like it's burning.
  • Pregnancy is do freaking weird. You can walk around at a 7?! O.m.g.

My wrist pain has gotten so severe I can't do simple things like open the bathroom door, put my hair up, or grab my water cup. I am FREAKED out about getting it fixed as obviously that wont do with a newborn. Going to see my chiro this afternoon and reallllllly hope she can help. I also ordered a brace that will be here tomorrow.

  • I hadn't noticed a heightened sense of smell until I was driving around today and smelling burgers cooking everywhere. So weird! I had a little flashback of first tri nausea from that.
  • Only certain smells really get to me, like heavy perfume.

This little guy is either stretched out or practicing karate today! He seems higher than usually, but still manages to give me some nice jabs in my cervix causing some wonderful sharp pains! Rolling all around up high though and occasionally get a foot or hand, I don't know which near my sternum. Good times!

Yes, I think my Chiro has PT as well. If she can't do much today I'll go see an Ortho or some sort of specialist at is so not cool.
