@kat81 you're living my life. I dropped like 3 weeks ago and still no baby and I am so beyond tired of seeing my mucus plug. I have lost most or all of it 3 or 4 times since 26 weeks.
oh wow that would freak me out at 26 weeks. I agree with @chocolatelemons that I think the plug is just really giant, though sounds like yours regenerated.

I remember hearing that 3-4 weeks is a normal amount of time to be dropped, esp for a first-timer, and that was consistent with my experience. But I've never heard of it being more than 4 weeks. Also usually second timers don't drop (and I didn't the second time) so I was surprised when I dropped for #3 and that it happened so much time before actually delivering.

I am so gassy, it's so uncomfortable! Between burping and farting I feel like a super gross man. What is happening to me!
I have been as well. My problem this past week has been that every poop is like that first postpartum poop -- totally horrible! When it comes out it is not particularly big/hard like being quite constipated. It is pretty normal poop. My working theory is that there is NO room in there for it to flow out. So it feels like I'm extremely constipated. I need to start taking my stool softener!!
See I've been taking stool softener!! I take one everyday! Maybe I need to up my dose?
  • Did anyone who's already had their baby have stomach flu-like symptoms before going into labor? I've heard of that happening but I don't know how common it is. I've been feeling yucky since last night with *TMI* loose stools, lower back pain, and tired feeling. This could be from something I ate yesterday too though.
  • @luckywife10 I don't know but I'm going through the same thing.  I'm starting to think it was the sandwich I ate yesterday :(
  • @pshaortao YAY!!! "Yay" for labor, not soft bowl movements haha.

@Hansolosparka hopefully this means labor is just around the corner for us too!

@pshaortao. Yay!  Hope all goes well!
  • @luckywife10 I felt a lot of what you have going on when I was in labor. Looking back on it the only way I could monitor what was going on was to watch the back pain. I couldn't feel the contractions in the front unless my hand was on my belly, but that is because I was feeling it in my back. My back pain didn't really get that painful until I got to the hospital and I was already at 7-8 cm. I guess my advice for possible back labor is to watch for consistency even if it isn't very painful. I also had period like cramping the night before,  looser stools, and not much of an Appetite.

    @pshaortao good luck, girl!
  • Hi everyone! Long time lurker here, have only posted 1-2 times so I hope this is okay to ask at this point!

What does the mucus plug look like? I'm scared to Google pics! I read that it's gelatinous - does this mean it's pretty much solid? Not like discharge at all?

And how can you tell when the baby has dropped? Should there be a significant gap between boobs and belly?

@trufflies: I'll let someone else extol the virtues of the m.p. because, well, ewww. I think you'll know it when you see it. (I never did.) Re baby dropping: for me the best indicator was a change in pressure on the bladder and pelvic bone: it just felt like the baby was lower. It may or may not be super obvious visually externally. Do you have any other signs of labor? Good luck!

@trufflies. It looks like mucus from the nose, but just a lot more and it's coming from the lady parts instead of your nose. It's thick and stretchy (not solid). Honestly, there is no reason not to google it.

Re baby dropping.  You may or may not see "a gap" between boobs and belly.  If you've been taking weekly pics you may notice a difference.  For me, it was a change in symptoms and pressure.
  • Agree with @SKZW you'll know it when you see it (mucus plug) and @clebl24 that baby dropping may be more evident in symptoms than appearance. Everyone is different.
  • Ugh! These last few days I've been going to the bathroom almost every 20 minutes throughout the night. As soon as I lay back down, I can already start to feel the urge to go again.
  • Posting this here in case anyone else is having a similar experience as I don't remember this with DD1 but for at least the last week and a half I'll randomly have shooting nerve pain down my legs that stops me in my tracks and sometimes feel so intense I'm surprised I don't fall over. Maybe it's something to do with being overdue but it's pretty annoying!
  • @erinh2005 I've been having that for a few weeks now, too. I think we figured out it's femoral nerves being pinched. It's the inside of my legs, essentially in my crotch and below, and yeah...literally stops me in my tracks. It was going back and forth the other night and I had to sit down until it stopped. But ouch!
  • Basically anytime I'm up moving around I'm having contractions. And on top of them, she's all balled up half the time and making me uncomfortable. But the second I lie down, they stop. What gives, ute? I want my water to break already!
  • @erinh2005 and @starphish18 Add me to femoral nerve pain. It's some of the worst pain I've ever experienced, and makes me nervous for what's to come. I'll get it so bad it lasts all day and night, but not as bad as the sharp pains. Time of these babies to come!

@ShadeofGreen816 Are they painful contractions or BH? Hopefully baby will come soon!

I woke up with strong cramping and I noticed some light spotting. I'm thinking it might be from my cervical exam but that was yesterday at 3pm and I've never spotted until this last check. I'm trying to decide if I should contact my doctor. Plus, the strong cramps are coming in waves almost every 3 minutes.
  • @MrsCPALeslie FX this is it!! Can you talk through them? If not- get going!
  • @MrsCPALeslie happy due date to us! Hope this is it for you. I don't have much advice other than call your doctor and see what they say. Easier to ask and be wrong than not ask and wish you had.
  • @Hansolosparka - I can somewhat talk through it but I'm mainly huffing and puffing through them. It started at 5:30am and it's almost 7:30am now and it's still coming in waves of 3-4 minutes apart. It feels like very STRONG period cramps with some light tightening I think and I'm still spotting. I'm calling my doctor as soon as they open at 8:00.

@SWE2 happy due to you! It would be crazy if I  actually went into labor on my due date especially since at my appointment yesterday, my doctor said I was only dilated about a fingertip, but not 1cm yet.
  • @MrsCPALeslie I was barely dilated and hadn't had any other symptoms when I started contractions with DS1 - FX it's baby!

I'm having some cramping across the front lower part of my belly and tightening. Hoping it's not just BH. I'd love to get this show on the road. Due date is Friday... c'moooon

  • @MrsCPALeslie Hope it's baby day! Good luck!
  • @erinh2005 did you continue to have the nerve pain while in labor or after? Mines gotten significantly worse lately and Google isn't answering my question.
  • @absbubbs so sorry I just saw this! I haven't had it since and I've only been home since Thurs but we even went on a walk and have been out and about and I haven't had it again just stiff lower back that I've noticed so far. So it's must've meant baby was very close because it continued to get worse up until delivery and I didn't have it after.
