@Jkp7749 So glad to hear how well your littles are doing!!! I had all the feels when I was looking through HDBD and got to your beautiful twin bump. Relieved my babies are out and safe but so bittersweet that I don't have a belly anymore...
@mamatowildones I got just a full day of pooping about 4 to 5 days before birth. I was like OK where was all this hiding. I did not poop during labor though!
So 1 hour gall bladder surgery turned into 3 hour surgery. I am staying overnight for recovery. Good thing is I actually came prepared with a hospital bag

Hi. I'm new here. Just got the app a few weeks ago. I am due May 20. I am wondering if there is a board/thread for cholestasis? I have recently been diagnosed with that as well as GD. Had an US today and baby is measuring small. Start BPP tests in 2 weeks.

Welcome! Thanks for introing in the intro thread. I know @Kipperoo is unfortunately dealing with cholestasis too. There's a GD thread that could offer some support for that too. Good luck with everything!

@jayandaplus I did. I couldn't feel anything with the epidural and they had me do practice pushes while I was fully dilated. That was all I could push out at first. And the best part? TMI but the nurse would leave DH alone with me to keep pushing (because DD wasn't far down enough anyways) so she could check on others, so DH got to clean up after me. He was such a good sport about it though. True love
I am fairly certain I pooped during my first birth but not with my second because I only pushed for like 5 minutes that time. Honestly, you have to just not worry about it. You are not going to be able to help pooping or tearing. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen.

Honestly I have no idea if I pooped during either labor. I remember it being a fear of mine as well during labor with DD1 but quickly realized it doesn't matter! The nurses are awesome and will clean it up if you do and go on like nothing happened. Once your legs are up in the straddles, you've been in labor for hours, and nurses/doctors are coming in and out of the room with all your lady bits on display, pooping will be the last thing on your mind!

@mamatowildones my mom had diarrhea about 2-3 days before each of her labors. She thought she had the stomach flu. It can definitely be a sign but I think hindsight as a host of other things can cause that.

@vrj0522 my baby has been in a Frank Breech position since 30 weeks. The hospital I'm delivering at will attempt breech deliveries after 34 weeks provided baby is in a Complete or Frank position, but it's the only hospital in the city that will. My OB said that prior to 34 weeks the baby's body isn't large enough to make room for the head.
I've been super emotional today. My DH has only had a few days off in the last three weeks and we've barely spent any time together. I guess it really hit me today that we only have a few weeks left where it's just the two of us, and then our lives are going to drastically change. But he's still going to have a crazy work schedule between now and my delivery. We are so excited for this little guy's arrival but I feel like I'm mourning (not sure if that's the exact word I'm looking for) our "old" life because we haven't had a chance to enjoy these last few weeks.
Is anyone else's Lamaze class super pro non-medicated birth and a little anti-everything else? I'd like to give a non-medicated birth a try depending on how much pain I'm in, but if I were going a different route, I'd be pretty offended by this teacher. I wonder if I just got a weird teacher or what. I am getting a lot out of the class, though, so I'm glad I'm going. Only 2 out of 6 left.
ETA: When I say anti-everything else, it's like she'll present the other options as an unfortunate occurrence and say things like "please don't feel bad if you wind up having to get X." Like, why should I feel bad? It just rubs me the wrong way and I didn't know if Lamaze in general is like this or not.

Re pooping: fiancé told me in detail everything that happened during labor, even though I didn't want to know, including that I "just pooped a little" thanks dude... he also describes our DD's birth as similar to a scene from the movie Aliens....
@jayandaplus I'm pretty sure I pooped, and I threw up in my hair, and I tore pretty bad. I echo everyone else and I promise you don't care at all. After the baby is born, they have to push the placenta out of you and that hurts like a mother, but you're too busy holding your baby/making sure everything is ok. I remember sitting there legs open as the stitched me up and just asking the nurses how DD was.
@kns1998 I think a lot of lamaze classes are geared to FTM and so many of them go in hoping to have a med free birth and then they beat themselves afterwards when that doesn't happen. The nurse is probably told to reiterate that it is totally ok if you end up with an epidural.
I didn't know if I pooped until later. I was bummed the kid got stuck and wouldn't come out and husband told me I pooped to make me feel better because I could interpret it as a sign I was doing everything right and pushing well.
@kns1988 our prenatal class is kinda like that, but it's a class geared for women with midwives who are hoping for a med-free birth. That being said, our instructor is fantastic and when we do talk about any type of medical intervention it is always with the lens that "people can change their minds", or "sometimes this is needed for these reasons" and that it is 100% ok. It's all about being armed with information so that if a midwife or doctor suggests a procedure you know exactly what they mean and can ask the right questions to help you decide (provided it isn't 100% necessary).

Welcome, @michelle59-2 !! I'm sorry that you are dealing with cholestasis...it's pretty rare and, at least this far, I am the only one I know of on the board dealing with it. The good news is that they caught it--the most dangerous complication with cholestasis is when it is undiagnosed. I'm sure that your medical team has a plan in place for you--for me, I was diagnosed really early (19 weeks) and have been on a medication to control my bile acids (Actigall) since then. I believe the Actigall was only necessary because mine started so early, but if they do put you on it, it's no big deal--no side effects. The big consequence with cholestasis is that they typically deliver the baby early (between 36-37 weeks) because there is a very small risk of still birth after 36-37 weeks and they don't know a lot about why. Let me know if you have any questions!! Either on the main board or in a PM--I had cholestasis with my first pregnancy, too, so I'm unfortunately a bit of an expert.
I'm pretty sure I didn't poop during labor.. maybe because I had diarrhea right after my water broke... also I didn't think it really hurt when the placenta came out... that was like a drop in the bucket compared to 3 hours of pushing out a baby for me.
I don't know if it makes me feel better or worse that pooping is so common. Oy veigh... @pshaortao I do not want DH dealing with my poop!
If someone had told me beforehand this would happen I probably would have been horrified. But in the moment and since then, I don't really care that it did. I had been laboring all morning and afternoon and we were about to meet our baby girl. Pooping during labor is really not a big deal. If it happens, you're at also doing it right.
Andplusalso.. its nice to get whatever out while you can because pooping after birth can suck!
Stuck in a box...ugh...agreed with everyone above on the pooping. I thought about it before I went into labor and really hoped that it didn't happen...fast forward to post-labor and I actually couldn't tell you if I pooped or not with DS. There was SO much coming out of there, that poop was the least of my concern. I was exhausted after 3 hours of pushing, looked like complete shit, and far nastier things were exiting my body than a pile of poop. The placenta is pretty gnarly.
FTM, so no experience with anything regarding labor, but I'm not too worried about pooping. It seems like a natural thing to happen during all of that and probably would be the last thing on my mind while pushing a watermelon out of my vagina. I would be a little embarrassed if H had to clean up, but not really. He's been there for me when I have my hiatal hernia episodes, which are not pretty, and due to where we worked previously, he's had to change a lot of adult diapers and clean the individual up. So, I think he'd be okay in the moment, maybe a little scarred for life having to do that for his wife, but hey the end result is a baby so its all good!
ETA: I want the drugs...all of them. With the issues I have with my back, I've always figured I would get them.

I did pee all over myself over and over and they still decided to straight cath me. I was like I'm peeing just fine here ladies and the only reason I didn't throw up is they kept the anti nausea stuff flowing! @lrwardrop I felt like my placenta just plopped out with out any effort I felt like I passed a huge load of jello. I never knew placenta birth can be difficult too until after
The placenta didn't bother me, but the after birth cramping and the "massages" from the nurses are no fun. Definitely not looking forward to those for a third time!

I don't even remember the placenta part. like at all, I assume they had me push another time, but I was more concerned with the issues surrounding DD at the time so that could have been why it is missing from my memory.
