So we just bought at house and are moving in on Sunday. In the mean time, we've been having some work done on the 2 bedrooms which will be the boys' rooms. This morning, one of the workers discovered rotten joists and mold in what is supposed to be this baby's room. We're working on getting a repair/cleaning estimate. I'm working on not freaking out. *Deep breaths*

@Jkp7749 I read your post on my way to work and made an audible "WHAT?!" I hope he realizes the need for him to step up to the plate with three littles.
@Jkp7749 - ugh! Husbands have no clue sometimes. I second talking to him now about nighttime or he might subconsciously expect that you will be the one doing all the motn work.

@starphish18 and @nda_roxybabe I have always wanted books instead of cards for a baby shower. I made sure it was put on the invite! Can't wait to see all of the books! I actually put some on amazon to try and minimize duplicates, but it's all good if we do get them!

@ChristinaWild: Do you have a standalone bra or lingerie shop nearby? Sometimes trying things on is the best way to try out different brands and styles. Also, having an attentive salesperson who can help you determine the correct size, and fetch other items, would be a really nice treat (yay! you can stay in the fitting room & not waddle around the store!). Finer department stores sometimes have bra fitting specialists available on certain days.
To answer your question, I've had good luck with Le Mystere. Not cheap but fits me well. The comfort is worth the price.
@kayemjay2 OH NO!!! hopeing everything can get fixed quickly and for little out of pocket! If you just bought the house how was this missed with the inspection?
@SKZW@beachmommy2b there are inspections where they have a special thingy that they point at walls and can figure out if there's moisture in them. We specifically picked a place that did it when buying our condo a couple of years ago. Totally worth the money if available in the area, i think.
@kayemjay2 i hope you can get it fixed soon! That really sucks
@BeachMommy2B , @SKZW , @thistlenweeds - Thanks, it's definitely a headache we didn't need! We did have an inspection, but it was hidden. We're having the carpet replaced, and when the guy pulled up the carpet, he discovered fire damage (also no disclosed by the seller). In removing the fire damaged wood, he uncovered the joists/mold. I also don't fully trust this carpet man, so we're definitely getting a second opinion about the extent of damage. DH and I are both attorneys, but know nothing about real estate law. We've contacted our real estate lawyer who handled the closing, but he says proving liability is very difficult. Sigh. Hopefully it's not as bad as the carpet man says!

@Jkp7749 oh no he didn't!! (In my best valley girl voice.) Husband and I both get super cranky when sleep deprived. When older daughter was a newborn we quickly came up with a code word for "you're being a complete ass and if it doesn't stop this second I'm going to rip your head off!!" So if one of us said "pineapple" the other had to stop and recalibrate. It stopped a lot of the "but I didn't mean it because I was tired" nonexcuses, as well as late night arguments and resentments, and we were both able to function much better as a team.
@Jkp7749 just adding to the chorus of I'm sorry your husband was a jerk last night. I can totally see this being DH and I are few months down the road - we've had issues in the past agreeing on division of labour around the house. Hopefully you guys can work something out so that more resentment doesn't start to build. @Squirtgun I really like the code word idea! I'll have to bring that up later with DH.
@kayemjay2 I hope you can get the house stuff sorted out without too much difficulty. I know how frustrating it is to move in somewhere thinking everything is ok only to discover massive issues down the road.
@Squirtgun: I love that you guys used a code word! That reminds me of a time when my hubbs and I, like a decade ago, were so snippy at each other b/c money was tight (aka nonexistent) and we were just starting our careers. We had a word too that meant "I hear you, I love you, but I'm leaving the room now, give me some space, and we'll chat later," because it's impossible to say all of that in the middle of an argument, but one of us needed to say it and the other needed to respect it. How else do you get someone/yourself to cool off?!
P.S. If I used your word for this motn stuff, I know myself and I'd vascilate between a gritted teeth "pineapple, please, hon?" and a very loud shouted "effing pineapple!"
@jkp7749 Ugh MOTN bishiness is the worst. I know they always say whatever happens between midnight and 8 am or whatever, forgive and move on. But it's so difficult. I'm glad he did at least seem to show that he was in the wrong, and I only hope it gets better from here on. A gentle conversation certainly wouldn't hurt either!
@squirtgun I love that idea, using the word pineapple. We probably will need something like that, since I don't want DD to hear anything negative.
@kayemjay2 Boo to finding problems that inspection didn't find. It's tough when that happens. Here, it's very much "buyer beware". We discovered a week after we moved in, one of the hanging lights got loose and it ended up 'breaking'. DH ended up having to call my dad who is very familiar with electrical stuff, on how to fix it. It turns out it was done illegally and we had to cut the wires and wrap the exposed parts. Now we have one hole in our kitchen ceiling in the meantime. My dad is coming at the end of May so I'm hoping he can help out instead of hiring an electrician who could potentially report us for having a hazard when it's not even our fault. Anyways, I hope that the damage is not as severe as it sounds and whatever repairs that need to be done is not too costly!
@Jkp7749 - Ugh men really don't get it, do they? I wish she could take over being pregnant for even one day! Glad he apologized in the morning!
@kayemjay2 - Fingers crossed the mold and fire issues aren't as bad as the carpet guy thinks!
@starphish18 - I just saw a copy of my shower invite yesterday and there was an insert with similar wording, I'm so excited to see what everyone picks and to read the little notes inside!
I packed a spinach salad for lunch but a coworker just mentioned she was going to order something to go from a local place that has amazing food but is pretty pricey. I know I should just stick with my salad but it's so tempting! Decisions, decisions...
... @starphish18 - I just saw a copy of my shower invite yesterday and there was an insert with similar wording, I'm so excited to see what everyone picks and to read the little notes inside! ...
I'm so happy to see this is apparently a common thing! I'd never heard of it before, so it was a big shock to me. But so many of you mentioned it being done for your showers, and my coworker had it done for hers, too. It's such a great concept.
@starphish18 this was done at our shower for DD and it's amazing the library we have for her. She loves reading and I really attribute that to us reading to her nightly. It was exciting for us (and made it a bit more enjoyable than chore-like) to be able to read the messages and see who picked which book.
Also *tw* it's so wonderful to have books for my babies that are from family who have passed away. DDs great grandmother passed within a week before she was born, but we have her messages and hopes for her great-grandkids from the note in her book.
Speaking of books: our library (the big city one + branches) had a book sale last weekend, i went and got 12 kid books for $12. That was awesome. (+8 DVDs for $2 a piece lol).
Also: mandatory lunch time naps should be a thing. I really really need one right now.
Thanks yall we've had plenty of coversations about how MOTN should go so hopefully it will click with him once they arrive, if not before!
@kayemjay2 that's rough! Hopefully damage isn't as bad as it seems, and thank goodness you found it before baby was in that room.
To all those that did books for showers, I've always thought that was so sweet !! I absolutely love reading with dd and that seems like It would be special to see what each person picked for baby!
@Bailey8809 I would totally go for the takeout lunch. No willpower over here!
@kayemjay2 that's such a bummer, I hope it ends up being less severe than you think and a quick and inexpensive fix.
@Jkp7749 like everyone else, sorry your H was being a butthead last night. I can commiserate, the MOTN snark sessions are on my list of things I am dreading.
My random: for all you ladies with SPD, any tips to get some relief? Do the support belts help? I don't know for sure that I have it, but my hips and pelvis feel like they are being torn apart when I lift up each leg to try and walk after sitting or laying down. My doctor basically just told me to suck it up at my appointment today, so looking for anything that may help.
@ChristinaWild -- Check out Nordstrom if you have one handy. You'll get a good fitting and have a lot of choices. It's totally worth the awkwardness of having someone helping you in/out bras to find something that really fits.
@jkp7749 -- Glad your husband felt appropriately sheepish this morning. No one is their best self in the MOTN, but there are upper limits of assholery that should not be reached no matter how tired someone is.
@livin541 When I went to PT for SPD, they gave me an SI joint belt that provides a little more pelvic stability, but I wouldn't say it made a huge difference. My best advice would just be management. Keeping your legs together as much as possible ie: going up the stairs one at a time, pulling your legs up toward your chest and keeping them together when rolling over in bed. They also recommended doing Kegels when making a difficult move to provide more stability.
Also, I laughed at "keeping your legs together" because apparently I'm a 12 year old boy.
@livin541 my Dr. just told me the same thing (PT won't help, it's called pregnancy, try a support belt). I have a support belt and don't feel it has helped any. I agree with @MoshiMoshi7 about keeping your legs closed. I try to keep my knees close together and to sit with them flat on the floor or lay out in front of you. Also when moving in bed to kind of scooch instead of putting weight on your pelvis. Sit and move your body/knees around to get in the car. I found that it hurts less when my bladder is empty. Sorry for not being much help, good luck!
OK so not sure where to put this. Don't wanna start a separate thread since its a bit TMI. Anywhos, just got back from the doc and they have diagnosed me with Vulvar Varicosities and Pelvic venous congestion syndrome. I guess it a fancy way of saying I have varicose veins in a place I would never want them. I've been having some swelling and discomfort so that's why I went in and that's apparently what it is. Doc said its common in women who have given birth before so not worry its just really painful and no cure really until after birth. Anyone else dealing with this too? Just ordered a pelvic support belt that kinda looks like my DH jock strap with pretty lace. They said that may give some relief. FX its does cause I don't think 10 more weeks of this will be fun.
Since we made it out of the extreme newborn stage, our rule had been that I am the one that gets up with DS during the week (since I stay home). We've been lucky to have a good sleeper, but hubs is reluctant to get up - even on the weekends. His favorite lines are 'He doesn't want me, he wants you' and 'It never helps when I go in.' UM... That doesn't mean you shouldn't try!!!
It is going to be QUITE an adjustment for him when we have two babies who may need us at night.

Are we talking the v2 supporter? It is with regret i have to say it hardly helped me. But from the reviews i could be just an exception because it seems that thing should work.

This has been us except DS is NOT a good sleeper and I'm not a SHM. Last night, I insisted that DH take night duty. I really needed the rest. I feel so much better today, but at the same time it makes me mad that DH has been getting decent sleep for years and I'm over here sleep deprived. This baby will rock DH's sleeping pattern for sure bc this mama can't handle an infant's sleep and nursing schedule and a toddler that needs attention in the middle of the night.
@thistlenweeds yep the V2 supporter. Ugh hope it works, but not really counting on it. For me the worst is actually the itchiness which they said is cause by skin stretching. Did anything help for you? They told me cold compresses will help.
@schnitz9 - I have a friend and a sil who had that. From what I remember nothing really helped except giving birth. My sil got it with her 2nd and finally decided they were done having kids when she was pregnant with her 3rd because of the awful pain. Worst thing is that insurance won't even cover surgery because they see it as something elective/cosmetic. I am sorry that you are dealing with it! I really hope the pain is mostly mild for the rest of your pregnancy!

@schnitz9 I'm right there with ya! Just talked to my doc about this yesterday. She mentioned the strap but said most of her patients that use them didn't find much relief. My dr did say they should go away after giving birth... I sure hope.
Thanks @vrj0522 and @mrsfox2008 with HG and Gastroparesis I figured just add another ailment to the list won't hurt. To be honest though I was more concerned that the pain was something wrong with the baby. As soon as they said he's perfectly healthy and that it won't affect his health going forward I was able to breath a little better. I kept think the extreme swelling was dilation or something along those lines. As long as it goes away after birth I guess its just something I'll have to live with.
I mentioned on another post that I got diagnose during with polyhydramnios yesterday (too much amniotic fluid). I told DH about it and he spent all afternoon researching it and said that many of the articles recommended early delivery and asked if I thought that would happen. I *may* have stretched the truth a little bit (ok or a lot) and told him they may start considering it around 35 weeks which is 2 weeks away. He now has a fire lite under him to finish getting stuff done that I have been asking about for months! He spent last night working on a to-do list and plan for the next couple weeks. I don't even feel bad
@schnitz9 you have Gastroparesis? My mom was just diagnosed this year and it's been a big struggle for her. She also has type 2 diabetes and it's been hard with the balancing act of what she can eat.
I had been telling DH for months now, that we should buy a deep freezer. Last night, after seeing all the room the milk was taking up in the freezer, he went and bought one. While I. Am happy to finally have one, I really wanted a black one. It would have matched our kitchen so much better than the white one.
