Re: Randoms Thread: March Edition!

  • For those with little ones, how was your night?I ran my daughter ragged yesterday to ensure an easy bedtime. But she was up way too early. Yawn.
LO just woke up! Luckily, she doesn't have a hard bedtime or wake up time so we ease into time changes. Within reason, she goes to bed she tired and wakes up when she's ready.

  • DD went down late last night because she took a ridiculously long nap yesterday due to her not feeling well. She woke up this morning around 8:20, which would be her normal time (old 7:20).

  • So I totally forgot about the hour change (even though I've been dreading it all week). DS didn't nap yesterday so he passed out at 715. We were expecting him to wake up super early this morning, but he slept in til 930 (830 real life). Not sure what's up with him but I'm not going to complain! We will probably push his bedtime back a half hour or so tonight (830) and hope for the best.
  • @Themaritimemama That sucks! I had my first filling ever done when I was 20 weeks pregnant with DD. Everything went well, but having to do it while pregnant wasn't my favorite.

  • I loathe people touching my belly!!! Get away from me people!!! Only close family and friends know right now and I can't even stand them touching me. Imagine if strangers start doing it? I told DH and he's been sweet on pretending he's jealous of people touching me and telling them playfully to back away from the baby but that won't last forever. Holy moly how do I make it stop???
  • It sure is quiet around here on the weekends.

  • @TheTamedShrew Ikr?! I was telling my husband that yesterday. I have way more time to bump on the weekends but everyone seems to be preoccupied then. So by time I catch up on the pages I've missed during the week, the places where I would normally chime in seem irrelevant as the group has moved on to other topics. Lol. Totally fine and I know I could back track but whatevs. :) I comment when I feel strongly about something. Btw, I laughed out loud at your comment about waking your daughter up when she is 15 because the sun woke up.

  • Man you guys have just reminded me what daylight savings time is like when they're younger. At 6 I don't have to wake up with them in the morning (at least on the weekends). They know how to feed themselves and keep themselves occupied at 6:30 am on weekends. But not little ones. *groans* Even if there ends up being any adjustment period this year, we're lucky because they're on spring break this week.

My 6-year-old is an early bird and it drives us nuts. She can do stuff for herself, but my husband and I take turns on the weekends on who gets up with her so the other can sleep uninterrupted. Real talk, on the weekends we turn on the TV/tablet for her, leave her with some drinks and snacks and leave her to her own devices and nap. That's going to become a thing of the past, methinks...

My 7yo is an early riser but can occupy herself for the most part. BUT since my 4yo and 2yo are early risers, we're an early house. Usually we swap off with sleeping in too, but the three of them are so noisy once they get up for the day that it's pointless. I wish they would do away with DST though. I was way off my game today, and we ate supper a half hour into bedtime.

  • This is supposed to be a happy time for us. My husband out of nowhere has asked me to consider having an abortion. I told him I would never do that. I don't know what to do and I don't want this stress to hurt my baby boy.
  • Whoa @apowers80 did you ask him why?!
    Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
  • @apowers80 maybe he is just scared. Guys say stupid things when they are scared. Did he give you any reason?
  • ^^ Yes @apowers80 I hope there was a bigger conversation that followed that? Were you guys trying to get pregnant? Has he shown any inkling of this before? I hope you guys can talk and figure out where this is coming from, I can't imagine what I'd do if anyone said that to me, let alone my DH.
  • Yikes @apowers80! Sorry you had to endure that conversation. :(

  • @apowers80 so sorry you had to hear that from your DH. I couldn't imagine. Is there financial stress or a fight that would trigger such an insensitive comment? It may be a wise idea to see a counselor together before the baby is born. You need his support 100%.
  • My toddler slept from 8:30-8:00 am! And I slept until 7:45 this morning. It feels like a DST miracle, especially after yesterday's 5:30 (so, really, 4:30) wake up. Please let this be a thing....
  • My little man has a cold (the millionth in his 15 months of life.. thanks daycare and living in a cold climate). He was in good spirits all weekend but the monitor clicked on every few minutes last night with him snoring/coughing/moaning. UGH! I didn't want to mute it because I obviously want to hear if he's having some difficulty breathing, but that mixed with my constant pregnancy unexplained wakeups all night (had it last time too), I am a zombie today at work. Gonna need some coffee (and a bonus if it helps me poop too)

  • @TNgoldengirl that's so rude! People that try to figure out who wins week one are weird to me.. Why even watch?

Yeah I was at a baby shower yesterday and people were touching my belly... I was like "yep, the baby is in there somewhere. It's mostly chub though. Thanks for touching it. " usually I don't care but it's too early.

  • @AnnaS930 I have a random pharmacy related question for you. I'm sure you can only speculate, but about how long does it take a pill to dissolve once you take it? Like a gel coated, rapid release Tylenol. My migraines and nausea have been out of control and sometimes I wonder if the Tylenol even had a shot of working when I throw up (sorry) 20 minutes later. I wouldn't ever take another dose on top of it, but I am curious.

And I feel bad for your kiddo. Out of nowhere, I got a cold Saturday afternoon. Sleep has been brutal these past two nights. I have become a mouth breather because my nose is so congested. I hate colds.

I feel the same way! My DD is still asleep! Of course, she'll probably be up until 10 tonight to make up for sleeping in...

  • Reese "slept in" - i.e. long enough for me to take a shower before she woke up. But she was also up twice. At least they were quick wake ups and she went right back down. Doesn't help deal with my pregnancy insomnia though.

  • I received some gently used nursing bras from a family member and I'm not even ashamed to say that I'm wearing one today. Why didn't anyone tell me these were so comfortable?!?!

  • @LizC216 - tough to say how much will be around for absorption if you're throwing up so soon after.. but with that being said Tylenol starts working really quickly once taken.  It reaches its peak concentrations in your system within about the first half hour after taking it.. so really, enough should already be going for you before you get sick.

  • @runningisrad I'm not sure what kind of nursing bra you have, but I was reluctant to go back to real bras after I stopped breastfeeding because my nursing bras were so much more comfortable. They, however, were not flattering to my boobs, so I won't be pulling them out again until baby is here. I do plan to pick up some lined, underwire maternity bras here soon. My current bras are starting to get too small.

Note to self: When you run 3 miles after not running in months, stretching afterwards is advised. I did not stretch, yesterday my legs were a bit sore but not too bad (I'm also doing a program of squats, lunges and calf raises). Today, there is pain with every step. People are going to think I've started my pregnancy waddle super early on. Wah.
I imagine! I have to stretch, foam roll, and strength train on the reg because of IT bands are assholes and I have weak hips.

  • @AnnaS930 Thank you! That is very helpful and gives me some hope that this Tylenol still has a shot.

  • @runningisrad -UGH! Right before my last pregnancy I had a huge IT band issue where I literally could barely walk. You'd think I had learned my lesson... I have not. But I stretched quite a bit in the shower this morning hoping the hot water would help loosen things up. Hoping for a long walk today to get muscles warmed up and a good stretch too.

  • @mom2adoodleI can't stand having my belly touched. Unless I ask you to, gtfo my space. I have gotten to the point where I put out my hands when people come waggling their fingers and tell them not to. I don't care if it seems rude, and it is a perfect way to teach my older kids that no one can touch your body unless you want them to :warning:

  • I hate having my belly touched, like even pre-pregnancy by H.  He learned really quick it's a no-no area.  I'm not a anti-touch person by the sensation of being touched by my belly button makes my skin crawl.  Now being pregnant H is getting bold and is starting to when I have clothes on but I still hate it.  I get he wants to "touch the baby" but grrrrr.

Nobody is touching my belly this go around (yet, anyway), but I had coworkers that would do it when I was pregnant for DD. I wouldn't have minded nearly as much if they a) asked and b) waited until I was actually showing so they weren't just all up on my chub.
