@jennypenny1014 - It's so hard not to be nervous! I think for us bigger women, we've learned to equate numbers on the scale with success. Numbers go down when trying to lose weight = success. Slowly gaining weight during pregnancy = success. I think it helped for me to listen to the non-scale signs my body has been exhibiting. For me, my stress level plummeted when I started feeling him kick on a regular basis. Now, I've been paying attention to stuff like feeling tired, an increased appetite, my stomach itching, etc.
I'm sure the ultrasound will go well! They want me to do one toward the end of this month just to view the arches in the heart, but I'm secretly relieved I'll get to see a bigger baby and ask them about how he is measuring. I think there are just specific challenges/fears that overweight women face during pregnancy that OBs just don't think to address. We need to stick together and support each other!
Hi everyone! I'm new to the RTT thread so I hope you don't mind me chiming in.. I didn't want to start a new thread for this topic. Are black-out curtains worth it? I already have horizontal blinds on the window and want to get some curtains to add to our nursery, however, my sister strongly suggested blackout curtains.
Question. Is it bad that I don't eat when I'm hungry? The only time I do this is when my husband wakes up in the morning before 7, and if I stay awake long enough, I get hungry. I know if I get up to eat something, I'll be up for another 2 or 3 hours before I go back to sleep, and honestly, I'd rather just sleep!
I've been reading about some of y'all getting midnight cravings or waking up hungry at random hours, and it makes me feel guilty that I don't satisfy my hunger when I feel it. I just want to make sure I'm not doing anything to harm my baby's growth. :-S
That happens to me when DH wakes up at 5. I just try to remember to bring a granola bar with me to bed. But sometimes I forget and just got back to sleep. It would be one thing if you were skipping breakfast or something. I wouldn't worry about it!

I sold curtains for a few years. My vote is yes, they are definitely worth it.

I live where there is 24 hour sunlight in the summer, blackout curtains are a godsend. They make a HUGE difference in sleep quality.
Ugh. Why do MILs suck so bad? I'm outside plowing/shoveling this horrendously large driveway (all by myself) so her big butt can go to the doctors tomorrow. What does she do? Wobbles outside and starts questioning me and telling me what to do. Eff off you ungrateful brat!
I dont want a sticky for birth announcements because I always skip the stickies an would miss when a lot of you ladies give birth to your bebes, whih I'm excited for and actually want to see.
Yup. I personally don't think I'd mind our board being flooded with birth stories. After all, that's what we've all been leading up to, and I'm assuming as A14 moms give birth the board will be less active for awhile, so it'll give those of us in the caboose something to read while we wait. And if rather be able to favorite specific threads to keep up with than sort through one monster thread for updates. @Thomas930@WifeofaComposer can we, like, vote on this or something and not have one long birth thread if the board doesn't want it?

Update: Holy crap, what a morning. Baby is doing great. Growing right on track, all measurements were great, except for the cervix, but I'll get to that in a minute.
When I got to my appointment it had been two hours since breakfast, so I checked my blood sugar and it's normally between 80-90 which is great...today it was 247. Because of the fact that my numbers are so random and up and down and because I'm having decreases in fetal movement when they are high, starting tomorrow I have to be at the hospital twice a week for non stress tests and weekly OB appointments.
Since my cervix has shortened, he gave me a number, but my head was swimming and I was crying at this point, so I don't remember what it was....but I'm not supposed to lift anything heavy or be on my feet for longer than 20 minutes at a time, at least until my appointment next Monday. I'm really trying to stay positive here and I am thankful they are going to be watching me so close, but hot damn. Here's a fun profile shot (and still very much a girl) from today.

I think only one person suggested that, and it got shot down pretty quickly. What a lot of people ARE wanting, however, is a sticky to simply post the links TO the threads of the announcements in case a lot are happening at once and a few get knocked back to the third page or so. After Beth's donation sticky gets unstickied, there'd only be 2 stickies. I don't understand why anyone is so opposed to that idea. A vote would be a good idea though.

I tend to skip over the stickies, too. I want to see birth announcements from everyone. Maybe a sticky for linking birth announcements, but I really want everyone to have their spot light for each birth - our babies' births are the reason we're all on this board, let's not mush the details all together where they'll be ignored by so many.

WWA14 do? I spent tons of time (as I'm sure we all did) researching stuff to register for. I made two registries, both pretty close to identical, at amazon and BRU. Did both online. My aunts just told me that a lot of the stuff on my registry wasn't available in their BRU store, so now I'm worried that people won't be able to find anything in-store for my big shower in a month. I don't want to re-do the whole thing, and I don't want a lot of extra stuff above what I've already registered for, but te hole reason I made a BRU registry was because I know some people like to shop in-store and not online. Otherwise I would have gone 100% amazon. So if you were me, would you go in-store and add a bunch of stuff, and maybe change some of my carefully researched choices, or would you just leave it and hope for the best?

I would love to AW a birth story but I really think a sticky with LINKS to each birth story would be helpful. It's how I stalk birth stories on other boards. A birth story can go missed for a day and poof it's gone! One spot with links to all birth stories would be the best solution I think.
Ok, this makes sense to me. I thought we were talking about a sticky where everyone could post their birth story, which is what I've seen on a board before (not that I spend much time on other boards). A sticky of links sounds very helpful.

christinanoelle, I have heard from a set of parents that their baby slept noticeably better when it was pitch black in their room. They started out with a night light and turned that off and the babe slept longer, then they got black out curtains and the baby slept even longer. That made me register for blackout curtains. But that is the only experience I have with it.
Ugh. Small pregnancy whine. My back hurts so bad (sciatica hell) and my right eye won't stop watering. I'm kind of miserable in the way that its not THAT bad, but, I'm just wanting to whine.
fourthnlast, T&Ps going out to you! I am happy that little girl is happy and healthy Will you be doing u/s at all these appointments? That helps make it fun to go. I hope your blood sugar figures itself out! How crazy. You're so strong and doing such a good job taking care of your LO, try not to stress!
Just watched a tread climber commercial and one lady said "when I was pregnant I gained 60 lbs. you can't blame that all on baby weight that's donuts" it's like....she knows me.
@biggerinreallife Can you not see the availability on the registry online? I was able to change a bunch of stuff on my Target registry to stuff that was in store and online, in case someone waited to order online and could only by in-store. Or, if something was only available online and I didn't really care if I got it or not, I just left it there in case someone felt like ordering online.
.....don't even think of that. Now I feel dopey.

@biggerinreallife I wouldn't worry. I went through the same thing! My shower was this weekend and people bought a few things off the registry, and some on. Just return what you don't want!
I think the general consensus was to sticky a thread that is just links to each original thread to keep it easy to find. It seems to be what majority want.
~Missed MC at 8 weeks. D&C at 12 weeks on 4/17/13~
Ladies, for the record- I love this thread! I just missed a shit ton of posts, but loved the catch up.
It's another snowy day in NJ, shocker! lol. I need some motivation to finish the blanket I'm crocheting for my baby girl.......I started out on fire and now I barely get through a row without distraction!
My birthday is next Monday and I'm trying to decide what kind of cake I want. Any suggestions?
This just sent me into such a quandry for you... I mean.. There are so many yummy cakes to be eaten!!! And then after I salivated over ten different flavors my kid kicked me in my aching tummy and I kind of wish I wasn't thinking about cake anymore.

I'm not sure if they will do an ultrasound at each appointment, guess i'll find out soon enough Thanks for the good thoughts, I'm trying not to stress!
I seriously want to TP everyone that got offended by the coke commercial from last night. News flash: there are plenty of Americans that speak other languages! There is NOTHING wrong with promoting cultural diversity and whoever wants to bitch about is ignorant and small minded.

This bothers me to no end. English is only the de facto language of the United States. There is NO law stating an official country wide language. Some states have made English their official language, but as for the entire country, it doesn't exist. And lets not even get in to that English is not the NATIVE language of the U.S. :-P

I know it's making it hard because I love so many flavors. And now @amyv416 just brought up ice cream cake!? And then there is cheesecake and @joelleok brought up cinnabons! It's almost too much to handle.
@celticlullaby happy bday fellow Aquarius! We have a tough decision to make in the next few days
What about a cake sampler buffet?! I had terrible morning/ all-day sickness for my birthday, however, if I could get a "cake rain check" I would ask my husband to create a cake sampler. Let's face it, as husbands/ significant others/ loved ones, they have to fulfill our needs right now......if you NEED to not make this decision, and you NEED variety and options- so be it!!

I love carrot cake with real cream cheese icing. Or angle food cake with strawberries. Or do something crazy like pie or Cinnabon rolls.
