After a mid-pregnancy loss last year, I have hesitated to get too excited or hop onto the boards yet. But now that I'm a little further along I wanted to join in.
Introduce yourself: Hi! My name is Lindsey.
Due date?: July 31st. So we could have a July or August baby!
How did you find out? After a week of a missed period I took an at-home pregnancy test. I had my first appointment a few weeks later and my OB confirmed a heartbeat and correct measurements.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) This will be our second child. My husband and I have a daughter. We also have one very large dog (pitbull/hound/great dane mix) and one very shy cat. I'm a photographer and photo editor. I love to read, solve puzzles (stick me in an escape room and I'm a happy girl), cook (well, before nausea set in), and spend time outside.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) Mostly, I feel sick. The all-day nausea is no joke. The fatigue is manageable so far. Because of our previous loss, I feel scared but am trying to be as hopeful as I can.
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. Oh gosh. I love food, this is a tough one. Maybe chips and guacamole? Or Indian food!
@lindzsers omg I love escape rooms too! We have done quite a few with my husband's family. We did one this weekend, which is the first one I had done since covid started. I love the puzzles, the ambiance and the slight adrenaline rush! 😆
@zinnia19 Yes!! The first time I did an escape room was with my sister for my birthday and my heart was literally racing as we got the final clue and bolted to the door to put in the code. I’m truly addicted. Also, if there’s a bright side to new normal of living in a pandemic, it’s that most rooms are now “private,” so I can just go with my husband and friends and not worry about strangers messing with my flow
Have you tried any of the at-home escape boxes (Like Exit: The Game?)
@lindzsers oh yeah, I have only done them with my friends/family, that would be hard to do one with strangers! Takes a lot of communication and teamwork. I have played Exit: The Game. I liked the experience but felt kind of guilty that it can't be reused and played again!
How did I Find out? Found out on Halloween. I could tell just by my breast being sore, and usually I have spotting leading up to my periods and had zero spotting. We were trying for a baby so I tested early because I could not wait, it was a great big positive!
Im a mother to four children ages 16 year old boy, 14 year old girl, 11 year old girl and a four year old boy. This will be our little tie-breaker. Been married to my Highschool sweetheart for sixteen years been together for twenty! Being a mama has been my life long dream as well as having a farm with a huge garden enjoying the simple things in life. If I’m not doing something around the home or with my children then you will find me nestled up reading a book.
I’m feeling pretty good now, although out of all my pregnancies this one has been the hardest, with constant morning sickness, fatigue, aches, and spotting. I had a loss back in July so anxiety has been a lot in this pregnancy. I’m trying to remain positive and enjoy this pregnancy and not worry about every little thing. But it’s very hard after our past experience.
if I could only eat one thing it would have to be a crunchy loaf of sourdough bread.
Hey there! Super late to the game joining this board, but better late than never right!? We are due July 22 :) We found out together one morning before work, after a morning full of tears over the frustration of not being pregnant yet, I gave in and took an early test. I was so surprised I couldn’t speak and just tossed the test to my husband lol very special indeed.
This is our first, if you don’t count our chocolate lab that’s our baby as well :) I’m a registered nurse and my husband works in wine production and vineyard management here in northern CA.
Definitely feeling better in the second trimester and looking forward to connecting with a community going through this experience with me!
If I could eat one thing forever it would hands down be pasta 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Hi all, FTM here! I’ve been waiting to post my introduction in hopes the pregnancy would progress well and I could finally begin to lighten up some and not be so worried about announcing to the world that I’m pregnant!
I found out I was pregnant about five days after our embryo transfer. Our little girl is a miracle IVF baby - I’m 36 years old and have moderate to severe endometriosis that has stuck my tubes to my colon, etc so there was no chance of an ovulating egg passing through. We went through IVF this summer after trying for over two years and were saddened to hear we lost four of our five embryos, leaving one perfect little girl. We thought all was lost but went into transfer expectantly praying, and God performed a miracle! I remember sitting in a chair next to my husband and announcing, ‘I’m totally pregnant’ when I felt the oddest sensation of implantation cramps. I tested five days later against the advice of my doctor because I couldn’t wait any longer, and there it was - the faintest, most precious second pink line!
We’ve been married almost four years now and have two miniature dachshunds, Ellie and Bella. My husband works as a sales rep for a large uniform company and I work as a nurse anesthetist to put people to sleep for surgery. Working in a hospital setting during COVID hasn’t been easy, and I’m just recovering from my second round of COVID since the pandemic started. We enjoy watching movies, cooking and playing music together - he’s an amazing drummer, and I sing and play guitar. We hope soon to start playing worship music again at our Church.
I’m feeling a little tired and emotional! I started bleeding at 12 weeks and discovered I had a placenta previa, but we’ve been blessed to have no bleeding for a couple of weeks. I’m 17 weeks today. The first bleed was terrifying and we went to the ER in tears expecting the worst, and there she was - our beautiful, impossibly tough little girl. Since then, my next scare of sorts was having COVID pregnant and just praying for healing and for there to be no pregnancy complications. My biggest complaint other than bleeding and COVID are my almost daily headaches! They’re terrible!
If I could only eat one thing forever I guess it would have to be my momma’s fried chicken and mashed potatoes with a big glass of sweet tea. I can’t help it, it’s the Southern girl in me.
Introduce yourself: Hey ladies! My name is Skye. I'm new to this so I appreciate your patience as I work out the ropes!
Due date? July 13th (I've seen a few other with the same due date, hey buddies!)
How did you find out? Missed my period so I took a test! But even before that I was experiencing some mild symptoms like breast tenderness, fatigue, nausea. I had a big hunch
Tell us about yourself I am 26, my partner is 38. We both have 1 child from previous relationships that we raise together, a son who is 5 1/2 and a daughter turning 5 next month. I work as a Certified Dental Assistant and love every second of it. For fun I love to go on hikes, I'm lucky enough to live in Metro Vancouver where we have an abundance of green spa es/forests/mountains/lakes/etc (though I won't be hitting some of the ones on my bucket list this season due to obvious reasons 🙃)
How are you feeling? Honestly I'm feeling antsy, like this is going by so slowly. I loved being pregnant the first time and I'm eager to feel those kicks and watch my belly grow. But trying to be patient haha. Symptom wise I don't really have any at this stage other than increased appetite
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. Pizza, hands down. So many different combinations and styles 🤤🤤
Late to the game here, didn't know there was a discussion board! Introduce yourself: Hi everyone I'm Kristen, FTM live in CA with my wonderful husband and two dog children.
Due date? July 22nd!
How did you find out? We had been trying to get pregnant, I had a misscairage end of July/early August at 8 weeks. So I was testing regularly, but we found out on my husband's birthday in November
Tell us about yourself I am 30, my husband is 34. We have two rescue german shepherds whom we love to pieces. I am a high school math teacher (nornally like my job but throw coivd and wearing a mask all day while trying to teach has proven extremely difficult for me being short of breath haha) so counting down the days till maternity leave 🤣
How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good, had some morning sickness 1st trim but not a ton, low energy was a bigger problem, finally getting through days without needing a nap. Wish I could muster the energy to do some small work outs. But really just want time to speed forward so i cant meet my baby girl.
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. Any variety of Mexican food. I have been craving bean and cheese burritos and chips and tacos and burritos haha I can keep going on buy that is all I want
So! I've been lurking for months, but I realized with all the talk of private groups that I've not actually said anything... And I should probably actually introduce myself to say I'm here. Introduce yourself: Hi, I'm Emily!
Due date?: July 31.
How did you find out? My doctor called me at work and said I needed to take a pregnancy test after seeing my Progesterone levels. I'd taken two before I went for the blood draw and given up on getting a positive, but there it was!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I'm a US history teacher at a private school, and I'm finishing a PhD (part of why I've been lurking and not posting...). My husband stares at computers all day processing data. (TW) We've had two losses and a series of other tests, and we're finally feeling confident that this one is coming home with us in July.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) At this point, I'm feeling good! First trimester was much easier than expected, and second is looking to be a pretty smooth trip so far. It's all starting to feel real, which is pretty exciting.
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. I am going to pick pasta, because I don't know that I could pick just one of them.
Introduce yourself: hi everyone, I’ve been lurking here for a few months now but never posted. I was pretty sick at the beginning (high risk pregnancy) and super busy with work so never took the time to reply to any of the threads. I’d love to be more active now that I’m feeling better and for the remaining of my pregnancy
Due date? July 14
How did you find out? Planned pregnancy
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) This is our first baby and my husband and I are so excited. I like to go on hikes, be in nature and when stressed I need to be close to the water (beach, lake, sea…anything). I love watching Grey’s Anatomy and was a big fan of Gilmore Girls
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) I was feeling pretty sick with all day nausea and exhaustion during the first trimester but now I’m feeling much better. Although this week I’ve been tired again. Had my anatomy scan and first OB appt in the last couple weeks and things are looking good so far. Most likely I’ll need to be induced early because of my age (I’m 40) and OB doesn’t want me to go past 39 weeks.
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever.
Introduce yourself: Hi everyone, my name is Jessie.
Due date? 7/26
How did you find out? Taking a pregnancy test after what I thought was food poisoning from too much holiday baking indulging lasted longer than food poisoning should.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?): I’m an EMS dispatcher, my fiancé is a police officer. We live in Southern California, have a lab x shepherd mix and I love anything outdoors, cooking, baking and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy lounging and watching movies every now and then.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?): This is my first pregnancy, it wasn’t planned (we are excited though), it’s been rough. I lost my mom and dad last year so while wading through those losses, a pregnancy is, well, rough emotionally. Physically, first trimester was really yucky, right now still get waves of nausea a few times a day but I have a little more energy I’m finding. I’m scared, is that normal?
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever.
Tough one! I wish I had a grand answer but, I don’t … Avocados. Yum!
@jessie_95 welcome and congrats! That's a bummer that you've still got nausea going on. For some folks, this is the norm and it may or may not continue through birth. I hope yours eases up though!
I'm sorry to hear about your parents. I lost my FIL (not the same, but still a blow) two weeks after DD1 was born and it was very much an emotional roller coaster. Hugs and solidarity from my corner of the world.
@twentythree19 first off, EXCELLENT username. As a huge Disney fan, I love it!
Second, thank you for the warm welcome and virtual hugs. It’s been really tough, navigating all these firsts without my mom and dad around to do the soon-to-be grandparents stuff but, just going day by day. I’m so sorry for your loss of your FIL, a loss of any kind is painful.
I’ve started to realize that this nausea bought a round trip ticket until this baby comes out so, I'm trying to just settle with that. Haha.
Introduce yourself: Hello, name's Rhianna. I'm mom of 4 boys expecting my first girl. I'm based in Southern Australia where it is FREEZING right now, little late joining the group (I know).
Due date? 4th of July
How did you find out? I had a couple emotional outbursts (which is unusual for me) and decided to do a HPT and instantly got my BFP... On my 27th birthday!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) My 4 boys are Blake (6 nearly 7), Bentley (5), Roman (nearly 4) and my angel baby Spencer who would be 3 exactly 2 weeks after I'm due. Feel free to ask me about it if you like. Hubby and I also have a furbaby called Calli, who is a 7 month old Tortoise Shell Kitten. I currently work at McDonald's as a Crew Member, although this is only until I secure a more permanent position as an Aged Carer.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) First appointment was nerve wracking, hubby and I had 2 miscarriages prior to this pregnancy. I had really bad HG, and have since been diagnosed with GDM. Symptoms have otherwise been relatively normal. This week (36 weeks) is the hardest so far emotionally, as its the same gestational age I lost my angel baby at in 2019. I'm booked in for an induction at 39 weeks, but my OB thinks I'll likely give birth before than as only my oldest was late/past due.
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. At the moment the one thing I'd eat forever is plain brown rice as literally everything else is giving me reflux...
@mummafairburn nice to meet you! Congratulations on a girl this time I bet you are excited! Sorry for your previous losses, I can only imagine how hard that must have been. And of course you would be nervous now everything considered. But hang in there mama, you got this!
I wish my family was more supportive, unfortunately that's not the case so joining a mommy family seems 😃. It truly breaks my heart 🥺 My Wife and I have been married 12 years and now are starting a family. My sister and her husband blessed us with a beautiful baby boy to have a family of our own. After seeing our heartbreak with multiple miscarriages they made our our hearts more than Blessed. He will be 2 months on the 3rd and our families act like because we didn't give birth he isn't ours. All we want is for him to have all the love he deserves 💖 We set up a virtual baby shower to try and involve our families some people responded but the ones that did don't even ask how he is doing. Does anyone else experience people that just want to act supportive to see if you will fail as parents? Due date? A baby boy was due originally June 29th but decided to cook a little longer and came July 3rd. How did you find out? My sister surprised us with a box and that's just to record so her other two children could see us open it because they were taking a nap. Her husband had made an acrylic designed baby memorabilia for us that had her pregnancy test and his first ultrasound. Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) We are truly blessed for my sister and her husband helping to start our own family. My sister and I of course are very close she is the youngest of six and I am the oldest. Being your mom is the greatest feeling I could ever imagine. GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. One thing I would choose to eat forever so probably be pickles I know it's the strangest thing in the world but I really do like pickles hahaha 😅
