@kvh22 Yes, exactly - I like the month names but would have a hard time naming a girl May/Mae with a May due date or like you said, something like naming a child Indiana while living in Indiana.

  • @kvh22 i really like the name Lacey, but we live in a city called Lacey. I couldn't do that.
  • Oh, but I'm also true crime obsessed and I can't stop thinking about Lacey Peterson.
  • @mrsclark731 congratulations! That makes two girls in the group so far! I'm finding out soon and really want it to be a girl. Let's keep the girl train going!

  • @kvh22 To each their own, but “Hey! I’m Georgia from Georgia,” just sounds silly to me. And I’m from GA haha
  • Ok—we have it narrowed down! Ciara is the grandma-approved front runner. Although she likes Ciara with an “S.” You can’t win them all! Ciara Jane, and my husband came up with both

  • We love Winter (nn Winnie) for a girl .. it was a front runner when I was pregnant with my son ... he was born in January so Winter would have made sense for a girl. Now I think it’s too weird 😕
We are considering Charlotte (nn Charlie) and Emilie now for a girl.

a boy is decided on... will be Henry. Middle name is still in contention. I like Oliver but my husband hates it. Our son is named after him (he’s a #5 and husband is #4) so because I had no choice, I don’t think he gets veto power over a middle name this go-around 🤷🏻‍♀️

I should know sex soon - fingers crossed! We had our panorama 5 days ago
  • I’m starting to lean toward Caroline more for a first name because my Granny (name: Carol) really is the most amazingly kind hearted woman I know. My husband has mentioned Lily after his grandmother before, but I’m not crazy about how it sounds with our last name, but now I’m somewhat considering it because how often would we say her full name anyway? Thoughts on Caroline Lily? Last name ends in “ley”. Too many Ls? I’m not sure about the sound of it, but I love it incorporating mine and husband’s grandmothers, especially since that is literally the only girl name he has suggested.

In other news, if it’s a boy, he will probably be nameless. 🤦🏼‍♀️
  • @Sketner610 haha that would be awesome!

  • As of today, no major front runners. Everything we like, we know someone close to us with a child of the same name.

Once we know the sex in 2ish weeks, we will resume name discussions. 🤣

  • @megsb615 are you pronouncing it caro-line or caro-lyn? I think caro-line Lily is pretty, but agree caro-lyn Lily sounds a little weird.
  • edited October 2018
@megsb615 I think Caroline Lily is lovely. And it should be fine with an Ley last name, since the l in Caroline isn't at the end, if that makes sense. I know someone named Alison with a double l last name, so her mother only used one l in her first name. Now that Alison is an adult, she wishes it was double l for the symmetry, but not enough to legally change it. I think parents can't win, regardless.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds We would pronounce it Caro-line. Maybe if I say it enough it’ll grow on me more. I’m liking Caroline Mae and Caroline Elizabeth (my middle and great grandmother’s middle name) more, but I know it’d mean a lot to husband to honor his late grandmother. However DS names after him (he’s a Jr), so I shouldn’t feel too bad about it haha
  • @liliumstargazer13 That’s so true. I overthink everything, and baby names are no exception. How it sounds, what initials would be, what nicknames kids might come up with, and the list goes on and on. Thanks for responding!
  • We are most likely going with Robert Michael but can’t decide if we do Bobby or Robby as the nickname
  • @bpietronicco I like Robby!

I really like the name Tennison for either gender right now, with the nickname being Tennie. Tennie is a family name (my great great great aunt or something like that) but I’ve been seeing Tennison pop up for a boy, as well. I haven’t mention it to DH yet, but I really like it.

  • @bpietronicco that’s my dad, brother, and grandpas name and they go by Mike, Rob, and Bob respectively. I’d probably use Bobby, but that’s just cuz I grew up with a Robbie.
  • @bpietronicco my husband is Robert. As a kid to teen he went by Robbie. Now he introduces himself as Rob. If he would let me do a junior I'd probably go for it . I like the options with a nn.
  • @bpietronicco I like Robby as well! Bo can also be a nickname for Robert if that somehow strikes your fancy.

  • Thanks everyone.

@chloe97 crazy!  Robert is my grandpas name and he went by Bob- my dad is Robert William and went by Bill and my husbands name and his grandfathers name is Michael- that is where we get the name from.
  • @megsb615 LOVEEEE Caroline. One of my faves for sure!

DH surprised me yesterday when he told me he's been thinking about the name Eve if it's a girl. I've been thinking of Mary (to honour my Mum and Grandmaman). Eve Mary sounds off. Mary Eve sounds pretty. But he doesn't want her to go by her middle name, and wants Eve first. Something to think about anyways....haven't heard anyone named Eve in ages but I kinda like it.
  • @bgdwg I love the name Eve! DH vetoed it last time though.

  • @bpietronicco my dad and brother are Roberts! My dad goes by Bob and my brother Rob. When he was little people did call him little Bobby. If it's a boy we're going to use Robert as the middle name too.

  • @bgd5386 Eve is really pretty! I love most girl names that start with a vowel!
  • @bgdwg What about Eve Marie?  That flows a little better, but could still honor your mom and grandma.
  • What does everyone think about the name William Jefferson? I like William and Jefferson is a family name. Does anyone catch the accidental reference?
  • @k2k2tog @megsb615 @fatmonica thank you! I will mention Eve Marie to DH and see what he says. 🙊
  • @guitarra1614 Bill Clinton’s first and middle name? I’ll be honest, I thought it sounded presidential, but I had to
    ask my husband. 😂
  • @megsb615 my sister-in-law is 30 weeks right now with their baby girl, who they're naming Caroline. I'm a fan, I think its adorable.

My husband and I have had our names picked out for years. We started joking around about our kids' names around the 2yr mark of our relationship (almost 7yrs ago), and once we actually decided on names (around year 3 or 4), we always referred to our kids by their names in any hypotheticals we discussed. It was always really fun, and now its real!! 😁

If we're having a boy (and I have the strongest feeling we are), he'll be Benson John. John is my dad's name, and Benson is a name my husband has always just loved.

If it's a girl, she'll be Bailey Pixie. Pixie was the nickname of my husband's late aunt (his mom's sister), who passed away when he was just a baby. Everyone only ever referred to her as Pixie, and for years I thought that was just her name. My sister-in-law's middle name is Pixie also, in honor of their aunt. Definitely not a name I would've thought of, but I love the idea of carrying on the name in her honor since it means so much to my mother-in-law.
  • @intheluep That's amazing that you have had names picked out for so long! DH and I have never been able to settle on a boy name... we will see if we need to this time or not. I love names, but my preference has changed as certain names have become more popular, and friends and family have named their children.

Benson is a family name for DH, and I have always liked it!

  • @guitarra1614 definitely Bill Clinton, right? DD1 is named Linden and when she was a baby people would often ask us if she's named after Lyndon Johnson... which is a no.

  • @intheluep Thanks! If it’s a girl, I think we’re pretty decided on going with Caroline to honor my Granny. I still like Emma Caroline, but a good friend’s little girl is already Emma Ray, so that kind of puts a damper on it for me. I love the name Benson! I haven’t heard that before, but that’s really cute. Also love how John is your dad’s name, and Pixie honors your husband’s aunt. I get all the feels over using family names though. ❤️
  • @megsb615 I get that way too. My husband and I like the name Madelyn, and a few weeks ago I found out it was my great grandmother's name and now I'm really leaning toward it.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds Love Madelyn! Before I started leaning toward Caroline for a first name, that was one of the “M” names I thought about since my name starts with a M too. Husband got a Jr., so I should get at least the same first initial, right? 😂
  • @megsb615 I just hate that it's getting so popular and I really dislike nicknames. I will probably hit someone if they call her "Maddy." I love Claire, but we don't really like that they'd both be Cs. But my husband and I are both J so it might be cute. But I have a friend who we're close with who deliberately gave all of her kids a C first initial, then we have our son (not coordinated with her at all) and at the time we were considering my son's name, we also fell in love with Claire. But it's already so freaking confusing with her 3 that I'm not sure I want to do that. My husband's one of 6 kids, all Js and I'm a J, my fil is a J. So, first time around no J was our only rule lol.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds That’s funny! My husband, his father, and 2 siblings are all J names too. Claire is a really pretty name though. Completely understand about nicknames.  I was the same for DS. I made it very clear there would be no Tommy, Tom, Tommy Boy, Tomcat, etc. Only Thomas. Haven’t had any problems with family so far. 😂
  • @megsb615 we have a Colin. Just avoided the whole nickname thing with him lol. I have no idea what to name a boy at this point. We don't even have names we like. I LOVE Dean, but it's a no go for him.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds if you don't like nicknames, you don't have to use them. My DD is Isabel but we have never called her Izzy, despite my MIL's attempts to make it happen. Now, she's four and very firmly refuses to be called anything other than Isabel. I really hope that never changes.

@eatinwatermelonseeds I love love the name Collin! If my best friend hadn’t just named her little boy that, I’d be using it! Haha Boy names are so hard. Part of the reason I was ok with naming DS after husband. It’s also my late grandfather’s name, so I love that it honors my family too. We’ve hardly even thrown any boy names around though. I like Hudson, but I don’t know how I feel about it for an adult name, if that makes any sense. Plus, it’s obviously not a family name, and I feel like since DS has a family name, this baby needs one too.

ETA: Also not family names, but I really like Wells (mn: Robert after my dad) and kind of like Holden, but I feel like they’re a bit different than the norm, and we’d more than likely get the side eye from family and friends. 🤷🏼‍♀️
