Re: August 2018 IVF

  • Sorry to hear that @ambers18 :/ maybe a new clinic will be a fresh start and just what you need :)

I've had an emotional day today already. I had my blood and ultrasound this morning. Still 9 follicles that are 16+ as of right now. A little disappointed with that since I had 9 yesterday... But trying to be hopeful that I still get a few to day 5 or that a few more grow into the better range in the next 2 days. I had to wait around for 6 hours for the doctors to be done and meet and discuss everyone's numbers (I live about 2 hours away and didn't want to go home and back...) because they weren't sure if I was going to trigger with HCG or Lupron. Finally got the call that they were going to have me switch to lupron, so I had to go back to the hospital to pick it up before going home. They think that will be better for me based off my E2 levels from today (3,800) and number of follicles. So I'm relieved it's an easier injection and feeling excited. Drive home- within 5 minutes of getting home 2 hours later, I get a call from a doctor. My progesterone level from my blood this morning is too high (2.4) and that decreases the chance of a pregnancy working. They will be freezing all our embryos and we will be doing a FET at end of October/beginning of November when the next cycle is. (I didn't know this could happen until I read some of you ladies posts on here, I did tell DH this was a possibility from the start just to keep him realistic). I'm obviously glad they are doing what's best for me and trying to get me a pregnancy, but I can't help but be upset and frustrated and pissed off. I thought I might be pregnant in like 3 weeks and here we are... Having to wait another 2+ months. 2 months should feel like nothing, but when you've been TTC for 3 years and waited 1.5 years to finally start this current cycle, it's just another let down. I seriously feel like I just can win...

  • @knottiee829c it depends it you trigger with HCG or Lupron, I believe HCG you have to wait 10-14 days before the injection clears your system and have a more accurate result. GL and keep us posted!
@mkr_0128 I am so sorry about this news! I know exactly how you feel!, i felt the same way when they scheduled my FET for October, but keep in mind they are giving you the best option to reach your BFP faster, with your E2 being that high you have better chance with FET than fresh transfer, that's what I read. Mine was 3718 and I had the fresh transfer which ended up to BFN. I feel like i wasted my 4AA embie but anyway... I'm very sorry, don't be discouraged and stay positive hun! and wish you the best for your FET and keep us posted!
  • @mkr_0128 I’m sorry to hear that, but they thinking what is best for you. Stay positive they just want you to waste an embie.

@babydust2507 I’m just waiting till my beta. I’ve been having lots of cramps so I hope that’s not AF :(
  • I don't think is AF since you are on PIO, praying for you and hang in there! The wait will be over before you know it it @knottiee829c!
  • Thanks @babydust2507 and @knottiee829c! I know there are several pros to waiting, but it's just the WAITING that's the hardest part :/ I'm going to try to find out some more info when I go for blood tomorrow morning. I'm anxious now more than ever to get this retrieval and 5 day wait over with
  • Mkr- so sorry to hear that. The same exact thing happened to me right before this IVF attempt, however, he cancelled my cycle completely on the 9th day of shots! He said the spike in progesterone more than likely damaged the eggs plus I was bleeding terribly.  It really does suck waiting. I know exactly how you feel. It’s hard not to get angry when thinking about it. Especially when you just sit back watching everyone else having children the last few years when that’s  all you want!  I sat back and watched my sister-in-law have 2 already and tons of people I know. It’s so hard and I am also having a difficult time dealing with it. I have a doctors appointment at 7 tonight to see what my next step is. Work is definitely helping keep my mind off of things. Wishing you the best of luck and hang in there!
  • Manders- That is amazing results!!!! Wow!
  • Knottie- how are you making out? Did you test yet???
  • @nicole030985 I'm sorry you had to go through a similar thing! It's definitely frustrating that there are some many stages where something can go wrong... I never knew that before actually starting this cycle! It's crazy to think this can be so damn difficult when it's seemingly so easy for those not needing treatment. Good luck at your appointment tonight!! :)

I have my retrieval tomorrow late morning, so I will update on here afterwards with whatever information they give me!
  • nice to hearing from you @nicole030985 and GL at your appt and keep us posted!
  • Mkr- good luck tomorrow.
    Thanks babydust.

My appointment didnt really make  feel any better about this process!  I got blood work done because he wants to check my chromosomes. I asked what the next step was if that’s normal and he doesn’t know at this point. There is no explanation for my infertility and that’s what drives me crazy. No answers, nothing! I have to wait a couple weeks to get the results of the blood work but I decided my next move. I am going to have three embryos transferred on day 3 instead of trying to wait for day 5. It can’t hurt. Can still possibly get some for freeze. The only time I got close to being pregnant was a chemical thtough IUI. Maybe my embryos will respond better when they are where they belong, not the dish. I did a lot of research and reading and have found many people that couldn’t get their embryos to day 5 but were successful on three day transfers, and a lot of them even have twins. So maybe that’s my case. I already have 2 failed and an 1 attempt at this point so something has to change. It’s weird to say that my body doesn’t even feel right without being on the meds now. I been on medication all summer. I’m on cycle day 5 now so we will try naturally this month and if unsuccessful, I will be gearing up for my 4th attempt in October. I’m so ready to beat this! I really don’t know how much more I can take. Even looked into adoption but the process is just too long and seems to be really stressful and expensive.
  • @nicole030985 I'm sorry, that must be frustrating having no answers :( day 3 transfer definitely sounds like it's worth a shot if you're able to do it! (My clinic only does day 5 transfers, I'm not sure why though). We are all rooting for you to beat this!!!

AFM- I'm on my way home from my ER. Everything went well I think. They told me this morning I had 26 follicles that were size 12+, and they retrieved 16 eggs. I will get a call tomorrow with how many are mature and fertilized... Then I won't get a call until Wednesday with how many made it to freeze.... I'm trying to be cautiously hopeful, as I know numbers can drop very quickly! (I know I had a good amount of follicles in the 12-15 size range, so if some of those  yielded some eggs, I'm guessing alot of those won't be mature ones).
  • I got BFN. Not sure what we’ll do next, we have 2 that made it to freezing but I need to research if is better to wait ot just get it started right away. I’m so sad but I also indeatand this was a possibility from the beginning.
  • @knottiee829c
<3 hugs <3  Always sucks to hear bad news, even if you knew it was a possibility.  Frozen transfers are often more successful -- that's why my clinic prefers to do freeze-all cycles and do the FET later. They said they noticed a sharp increase in the number of BFPs from that change.

  • @knottiee829c I'm so sorry to hear that. Just like @mbradfo2, my clinic does freeze all because FETs have better success rates. Don't give up hope, it's possible!

AFM I started spotting Sunday night and I'm still spotting. We went to the hospital and they said everything looked good blood and urine wise, but it was too early for a heartbeat. We have an ultrasound tomorrow at 6w2d so hopefully there's a heartbeat.
  • @knottiee829c I'm so sorry to hear that :( I'll be doing a FET in October. I just finished the ER and I can start everything up again med wise following my period. My clinic never said anything about it being better to wait, although I didn't make it to the transfer part. Is waiting/not waiting something you can discuss with your clinic and see if they recommend one way or another?

@stromette keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!! That's good you went and got checked out in the meantime to try and ease your mind a bit. I'm hoping you see and hear good news tomorrow!!

AFM- I got my day 1 update post ER. They retrieved 16 eggs yesterday, and they told me all 16 were mature, and 14 fertilized (through icsi since we are using donor sperm). I'm hopeful we will have a few that make it to freeze, but I won't hear back until Thursday (after they have frozen what's left), so here's to a stressful upcoming week waiting to hear...
  • @stromette I pray everything is ok for you.

@mkr_0128 they said I can do FET right away but they said takes 6 to 8 weeks to plan so I’m just going for it. I hope have a lot that make it to freeze
  • @nicole030985 I am so sorry your appt brought you more confusion, and yes unexplained infertility is really frustrating! I like that you are doing your own research and I will agree with trying to transfer your embaby on D3. GL girl! and stay positive please!
@mkr_0128 those are great numbers! I had 14 fertilized too but 10 made it to freeze and i used 1 out of the 10 for the fresh transfer. GL and keep us posted! are you PGS testing your embies?
I am so sorry for your BFN @knottiee829c! and praying that your next attempt will be the one!
@stromette I am sorry about your spotting and hope that everything is ok. I have heard that spotting can be normal especially for IVF/FET pregnancies but i know it's always scary and stressful especially with what we have to go thru to get that BFN. praying for you and keep us posted

  • @knottiee829c I hope you get alot to freeze too and that the FET works for you!

@babydust2507  thanks! I would love to have as many as you make it to freeze :) but I'll be happy with anything I can get! I am not PGS testing no
  •  We have a heartbeat!!! Everything looks good!

I'm really hoping y'all have better luck with FETs. The meds can really thin your lining which is why FETs are generally more successful. Don't give up hope!
  • Good news happy for you @stromette!
  • @stromette so happy to hear everything is good!
  • That’s such amazing news, @stromette- a heartbeat!!! Yay!
