  • I just sent out some feeler inquiries to several daycares. And I'm totally dreading this process. Ugh.
  • @mytrueloves please set an extra place for dinner! I'm in!
  • @kiwi2628 completely agree! We actively tried for 8 freaking years (tracking everything imaginable, fertility testing, lifestyle and diet changes, literally anything anyone said could possibly help) went through so many losses at different gestations and we're even told they didn't believe it was medically possible. (Even with IVF, they believed we had 1% chance of conceiving or carrying to viability. Especially with only 1 tube and ovary.) Jokes on them, we're on kid number 2. We may need some help staying pregnant until after 12 weeks, but no intervention other wise. Hearing someone whine about not getting KU/infertility when they aren't actually putting any work into ttc is infuriating to those that do. It's not the same.
  • I’m more private about poop than DH is. We’re all pretty open about pee and farts. DH has stomach issues and will often describe what’s going on in more detail than I really want to hear!

I wish someone would explain to my toddler how utterly useless 40 minute naps are.
  • I'm glad to know that my thoughts reflect those who have experienced it. I always get nervous when posting about infertility because I did not experience it and do not want to upset anyone. (Also I know how little DH and his ex had sex...no wonder it took you 3 years lady....).

I was terrified to start TTGP. With DHs reversal and my PCOS, we didn't know what we were getting in to. We had his surgery done 10 months before we knew we were even going to try, hoping it would increase our chances of success when we did, instead of going through frustrations each month. At 4 months post surgery we were told it was successful, but his count was low. It was 10 months of wondering what would happen but not being able to try. I feel that suspense is nothing like what those with infertility have experienced. And I will never compare my 4 months of actually trying to what someone struggling as gone through. I was also actively on metformin and inositol to better my chances.
  • @mytrueloves oh no! Hopefully you can just relax now!

I'm worried I'm about to do that with the weeding I need to do...
  • @sammierose464 I just spent a few days cleaning out our garden. I had to take very frequent breaks and drink a lot of water, but I managed it.

  • So my mom dropped the bombshell on me last night that twins DO run in her family. I had no idea, because I don't know any twins in that side of the family. But apparently my grandma's dad was a twin(? can't remember what she said) and *TW* my cousin got pregnant with twins, but ended up losing one or both, my mom couldn't remember *end TW*. I think those genetics run through the maternal line, correct? Now I'm wondering what's going to happen when we try for kiddo #2!!
  • As much as I dislike road construction, if the county doesn't do something with our main little highway out here, there's going to be more potholes than road soon.

  • I'm blaming you ladies for the fact that I'm going to look at Explorers today.

It will be so weird to drive an SUV after driving my Focus ST for 3.5 years, which is a manual turbo. Before that I had a Focus and a 96 Taurus (aka small).
  • @sammierose464 DH and I just had a discussion this week that we have to get a Honda Pilot before October. We already planned on getting the pilot sometime at the end of this year or beginning of 2019 but now plans have moved up a few months.

  • @jynjer91 just got back from the store and we’re having strawberry shortcake today. NOM.

@sammierose464 you should check out the Chevy traverse too. A lot like the explorer, but more trunk space. We’re vascillating between the two right now.

  • @britvahok i love my pilot! we've had it since December and it's amazing. Fits everything. Kids, massive dog, all the camping equipment!

@nasalot188 is the trunk super tiny with the 3rd row up?

  • @britvahok not too bad actually! Can still fit duffle bags or a stroller etc.
  • @jennybean80 thanks for the explanation!

@britvahok I just bought the new Honda pilot a few weeks ago and I love it! I drove an accord before that, and a Civic before that, so I'm a Honda loyalist. The pilot drives very similar to my accord!

I was a Honda person (by osmosis through H) for the longest time and every car I've bought myself up until the last one was a Honda... the last one was a CR-V. I hated that car. I'm so happy it was leased and not owned. We traded it in for a Mazda Cx5 a little over a year ago and I am MUCH happier!

Honda fan here too. I had an Accord before my Civic SI which I love!! I think it would work with a baby because it’s a 4 door but DH wants to trade for an AWD. It would be nice and probably safer for winter but I will have a heck of a time adjusting if whatever we end up with doesn’t have a manual transmission. That’s all I’ve driven for the last 5 years and I had several panic attacks when I drove my sister’s car because I couldn’t find the clutch! I’m sure I’d get used to it again but I love driving a manual.
ETA: any of you ladies have an AWD with a manual transmission that works great with kids?
  • I'm on the taller side (5'8") so there was no way in hell I was going to bend over to reach in the back of my car for the kiddo. Plus, I had a coupe. So I was reallllly not going to do that. Best decision ever to get the pilot now, because it's easier to get into. Plus for the model I got, the seat retracts back when you open the door so that's going to be amazing when I'm bigger!
  • I randomly started spotting today...frustrating. nurse said relax and try to stay down/not lift as much as possible, but with no other big symptoms, they think it's just random.

And actually fraternal twins can run on both sides. But from the father's side, the females before him could have expressed that gene and passed it to him as a carrier. He would be a carrier only (no increase of twins his self) of the twin gene and it would only be expressed if he had a female child. That's how our family is. Both sides fraternal, dad's a carrier. We were carrying twins awhile back. All the generations before and after my dad have at least carried fraternal twins. (***TW*** Some of us didn't carry to term, or only carried 1 set to term :/ )

@jomama1618 FX everything is ok and it’s just random!!
  • @jomama1618 that’s what I meant by through the maternal line  You can get the gene from either of your parents, but your hubby/partner’s genes won’t impact you having twins (but maybe your daughter having them).

  • @jynjer91 it's going to be really weird not driving a manual anymore. I already went to go push in the clutch when I had to break hard on the expressway.

These twin stats are freaking me out!! Everyone in my family likes to joke that I'm having twins because I'm so big apparently,  on my mom's side her uncle's are identicle twins and on my dad's side his aunt's are identicle, his aunt and uncle are fraternal, and his great grandmother on his mom's side was a twin (idk if it was fraternal or identical) so I guess there's a chance!! I haven't had an u/s yet but I feel like if my Dr felt I was that much bigger she'd have sent for one by now so I think I'm over Thinking it..
