@DunkinDecaf I used to think his farts were funny but the last year his ass is rancid. They smell so bad and last so long. I blame it on him turning 40 hahaha

  • @jynjer91, @chyvie then I'm also uncouth...I don't hold back my farts in front of DH, especially when I'm having severe gas pains. I used to get so bloated and constipated I'd look pregnant... About as pregnant as I look now lol, perhaps even more.

Also my pregnancy farts are THE WORST and I do try to hold them until I'm in another room from DH, also so I can walk away from it. I'm a nice person, sometimes :D

  • I remember the first time DH farted in front of me. We had only been together for a month or two. After that, there was no holding back. I don't think DH could hold in his farts. The happen OFTEN and they're gross. He also doesn't have a gallbladder. The worst part is my sensitive nose now, they have made me gag (and puke once) on occasion.
  • My 3 year old is so used to it that she loves to make fart noises and say “mom/Dad did you just TOOT?” It’s her favorite joke. And forget about it when you squeeze ketchup out of the bottle and it makes fart noises.
  • @chyvie that’s basically my theory too. I call them his “old man farts”. I mean, he’s only 28, but seriously they’re so much worse than they used to be and us getting older is the only thing that’s changed sooo...

@sammierose464 I dont have a gallbladder either so I totally understand that horrendous smell!! And the frequency at which it happens...
DH and I didn't start farting in front if each other until similarly to @krzyriver DH and I were wrestling and it just squeezed out!! Now all bets are off. Well be in bed and I can feel when he pushes one out and vice versa on each other, we have a one bathroom place so if you gotta go.. it hasn't gotten to like a contest or anything but it easily could!
I'm glad we already crossed that line because I am so gassy during periods and even more so during pregnancy I've found! So it's nice to let it rip without the shock of being the first time
  • I'm with @Kfrob there is no holding back between DH and I. I will say I do need to stay clear anytime he poops now for fear of throwing up. I gag if I even walk past the closed bathroom door!
  • @cagncool12 Poo-pourri!! We went through like 3 bottles of it when I was pregnant with Z. It's not the best smell but it's better than poop!

    E will be 18 on July 24th

  • @krzyriver I never thought of that, good idea!
  • My ex was very weird about poop, like I couldn't even say the word or he would get mad. It ended up giving me a complex, where I was really self-conscious about it and would sometimes hold it for so long I would be in pain because I couldn't find a good time/place to go. I told myself, that's never happening again. So from the very beginning of my H's and my relationship I was like "Look, I have to poop, don't bother me." And it's been sooo nice.

@KFrob Yay! At least I’m not the only one who gets poop pics!!

I swear the air freshener DH uses to cover up his poop smells is sometimes worse!

@hannaht8516 I love that we live around the corner from a Library. SS loves it even more. It's small since we're in a small city, but SE MI has a great inter-library loan program.
  • I’m loving all the poop/fart talk this morning. It’s making me laugh enough to momentarily forget how stressed I am    DH has no shame and will never hold back a fart from me (or anyone really). I don’t really care either, it’s natural after all - though I hate when it’s a really bad smelling one.

I’ve been feeling super stressed lately thinking about everything, so sorry in advance if this gets long. In addition to my realization yesterday of how much my maternity leave is going to cost us in terms of lost salary, I’m internally freaking out because I don’t know what’s going to happen with our nanny situation. We currently share a nanny with my
sister in law, and she watches our son and my two nephews. My nephews are both older, so one is in school full time, and the other is just about in full day now, but the nanny helps to get the older one to the bus and drops off/picks up the other one from school each day. Sometimes with after school stuff, she needs to take all three of them somewhere at once, which for now has been fine using my car.

I just don’t know what’s going to happen once there’s a fourth kid, especially being an infant. With the current setup, there’s no physical way she can transport all 4 kids around, and I’m just worried that it will be too much to try and get the older ones to school while worrying about my DS and then also a new infant. As it is, I feel like sometimes DS gets less attention because the older boys are more demanding, but a new infant is going to be a whole different ballgame, and need a lot more work.

I bring it up to DH, and he says we have time
to figure it out, but I feel like if something needs to change, we need to sort it out sooner than later.  Ugh sorry for the novel, but I can’t seem to get it off my mind.
  • I love that this thread has become a poop thread hahahah

DH and i definitely dont hold back. His are loud and smelly and mine are silent but deadly lol! We haven't watched each other poop but we dont necessarily close the door when one is going.

DS is also at the age where poop and farts are hilarious.

As for labour, I was definitely in the 95%. I remember it exactly and the midwife wiped it away so fast it was like it never happened. Pretty sure DH didnt even notice, he stayed pretty north of the border.  :D it was honestly nothing considering how much i worried about it ahead of time.
  • @pumpkinpancake I don't have any words of wisdom for you, but am so sorry you're stressing. It sounds like H isn't too worried, though, which is a good thing. Everything will work out!
  • Dh and I are private about bathroom things. We have peed when one is in the shower as we have one bathroom but only like 2 times. He tries to be considerate and not fart unless outside or in the bathroom but I always chuckle when one slips out. I don't think I mind if he farts around me occasionally as they normally don't smell and because he tries to not do it around me. I do the same for him. I try and keep it in the bathroom but it does occasionally happen to silently slip out and yes those are deadly and we get a good laugh :) pregnancy has been pretty kind so haven't had much extra gas.
  • @kiwi2628 Haha, I love that you polled your friends!
  • I will add that DH is all for being right there to watch and he really wants to 'catch'. I have no issues with it as he has seen all of me and knows pretty much everything about me! Hoping this isn't my first time pooping in front of him but we are both aware there is a good chance of it *shrug* just praying it isn't smelly!!! :flushed::smiley:
  • @SweetSweetTooth Oh gosh, I'll be lucky if DH doesn't faint...he legit passed out and collapsed when I was getting stitches on my thumb after I sliced it open. And that was only when they injected the numbing meds. *TMI* he said it was the flap of skin flapping around while they were numbing me that did it for him. I had about a good inch or so slice across my thumb, it was gnarly lol.
  • No pooping/peeing/farting in front of each other over here. Nope nope nope. I like my private bathroom time.
  • @pumpkinpancake I completely understand your frustrations and nervousness. I agree that looking at it sooner than later is better.
  • @pumpkinpancake Figuring out child care is so stressful! I'm trying to plan what we're going to do with DS2 and LO starting in January 2019. Is it possible for the nanny to have an assistant in the morning and afternoon who does pick up and drop off while she stays with your kids? Maybe a college student or SAHM could help out.

  • @pumpkinpancake I’m sorry you are stressed. Your definitely not alone, child care so far has been the most scary and stressful part of being pregnant for me!
  • I feel so bad for the husbands lol!
My DH was pretty great in labour, i wasn't expecting much as he's a very quiet man and doesn't do well with blood and all that. He stayed near my head the whole time. Held my hand and let me squeeze the hell out of it.

The midwives put him on water duty which was perfect for him. Between contractions he would bring the straw to my mouth and let me take little sips until next contraction came.

I honestly don't think he spoke more than 5 words during the labour at hospital.
  • I try not to ask too many questions about DH's experience with his ex-wife's labor, but there are some aspects I'm curious about how he handled.
  • @KFrob I luck out that DH often tells me how different, in a good way, this pregnancy is for him. His ex barely talked about her pregnancy. He said it was almost as if she wasn't even pregnant. But, she didn't have any problem telling me how she had a "very difficult pregnancy and spent 2 weeks in NICU and she earned her "mom" title and I do not." (This was when SS told her that I was going to be his step mommy).

@sammierose464 sounds like we're dealing with the same ex!  Mine also tells me how awful and difficult her pregnancy was and DH has no memory of it and says she's being dramatic.

eta PS I love that I have you and the other step parents to commiserate with!
  • A mutual friend is going through infertility issues right now. A year of trying (as far as I know: tracking cycles and is now seeing a dr, was on metformin and monitoring PCOS). Ex commented on it how they tried for 3.5 years for SS. I asked DH about it. He goes, she was off BC for 3.5 years, but we weren't actively trying, just not preventing. I think those are two VERY different things and not comparable. I'm sure that her own struggle was hard, especially if she was actively trying more than DH realizes. However, I also know she has flat out told DH she only had SS for him and she didn't really want a kid.

(I don't mean to diminish ANYONE's struggle, and know that I do not fully understand it as my experience was different).
  • I'm also glad there's a few other step mom's on here!
  • Our roommate got me these lovely nursing tops / dresses for my birthday that I adore. I just tried them and one of them is absolutely gorgeous and simple and I think would be PERFECT to use in the hospital. But the other one is confusing me so much lol. I feel so silly for being confused by a nursing top!
