@ecwk I'm in the same boat I'm almost 12 weeks. This being my 3rd baby and having a little pouch left over with DS2, I definitely think I look pregnant. I gave up on sucking "it in" weeks ago, I'm sure people who don't know I'm pregnant probably think I'm gaining a lot of weight. I wanted to wait until Valentine's Day to announce, but I'm not sure I can wait 3 more weeks to announce.
Just threw up a bunch of times in my office. It came on so suddenly and our bathroom is so far away that I couldn't risk the trip there. Luckily there is only one person nearby and she knows I'm pregnant and has three herself so she is super understanding, but still so mortifying. I was apologizing to her while I gagged
@ecwk same here. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow, and I've only gained about 5lbs, but it seems like all 5lbs have been right in the uterus. I think most people think I"m just getting fat because I keep wearing loose, blousey shirts, but apparently MIL told my mom last weekend that she "couldn't believe people didn't know I was pregnant" because I "totally look pregnant." Insert extreme eye roll here...thanks MIL.
Holy Shit. I was just looking at baby stuff. The second camera for our video monitor is $100. I forgot how expensive stuff can be
Yeah when we had #2 we just got a whole second monitor. It wasn't much more expensive than the second canera, and I didn't like that when you have two cameras going you only get sound from one of them. We're probably just going to get a cheap third one now until DD1 is old enough to get up and out of her room alone. We are on the first floor and the kids are on the second, so we really need to be able to hear them all.
Oh I didn’t realize you couldn’t hear both! I might do the same then

@hardlyhannah I don't know of that's just the brand we have (summer infant) but SIL had the two cameras with split screen on her boys and you were only able to have sound on one of them. Her room is right next to the kids rooms so it didn't bother her because she could hear them if they were crying anyway, but that's not the case for us.

A friend from my last BMB has a Motorola with 2 cameras she said you can set to ‘scan’ mode and it goes back and forth between the 2 cameras. I was looking at some online this weekend and reading the descriptions and reviews some have the feature, but a lot don’t! We have a Samsung and the second camera is the same ($100), so we are just getting another individual monitor. Not sure which one yet though!
@ecwk and @juliebird6 I’m in the same boat. I was doing a ton of yoga and was in decent shape but my stomach popped so quickly. I think I looked like this around 16/17 weeks with my first and I’m 13 weeks. I’ve only gained around 3-5 pounds too but I don’t know how. Between my boobs and stomach it looks like at least 10. I actually wish I could wear a sign that says “I’m pregnant.” Otherwise I just look like I overindulged during the holidays.
@lolog531 we have the Motorola. I guess I need to do more reading! I do see the scan function on there and assumed it meant the cameras but that all sound would come through

We have the Nest for video and some cheapie brand audio monitor. I'm not a fan of the Nest - it was listed as one of the best baby monitors on the market and I don't know why. It is just a webcam that dings your phone when it senses movement. And by movement it really does mean anything - clouds passing and creating a shadow will set the thing off. So annoying. I want the motorola or something similar this time.
Oh Man, sorry @alinafed that's not a good way to start the day.
I have the Infant Optics DX-8 monitor. I've been pretty happy with it. Haven't researched how it works with a second kid yet. But DS is sleep trained so I turn the sound off at night anyway (he's close enough that I would hear him if he so much as coughed) so I would only need sound for LO.
I'm only 9 weeks and I feel like my coworkers are already playing 'is she pregnant or does she just really like burritos?'. I had this insane dream of not telling my work until May, but I don't think that's going to happen.

I got complimented on my bump yesterday; shit's getting real. I couldn't imagine not telling anyone until well into the second trimester. Even if I wanted to, my husband couldn't. He basically told everyone at his work the day after my BFP! I announced between 9-10 weeks after telling close friends and family over Christmas holiday.

Is there a new symptoms thread, or are we still using the one from 1/7? I don't see any newer ones? If that's the newest one, I'll start one for this week.
I got my results from my labs yesterday - my A1C is down to 6.1 (from 6.2, not a huge drop but any drop is good!) and my 24 hour urine culture came back 'unable to calculate blah blah blah.' Basically I think I have to do a repeat. Damn. It's more a pain in the ass because I have to be at home for 24 straight hours unless I want to lug my very glamorous pee jug around with me...
i think I’m going to tell my boss this week. I’m nervous about it because they’re restructuring but I know I won’t be able to hide it until April so it is what it is. If I lose my job we’ll just have to figure it out. I really hope I don’t though.

@ecwk I am soooo with you on the belly showing. Mine isn't even a lime yet and I know I'm showing. @hardlyhannah I had the motorola with DS1 & DS2 and it scans but you can only hear the sound on whichever one is showing. It scans frequently enough though that it didn't matter to me. At this point I think once baby arrives I'll just move the one that's currently in the boys room to baby's room. They'll be 6 and almost 4 by then, I think they can survive without it. The only reason I still use it is because I'm in the basement and they're on the top floor (we have 5 floors) so they're really far from me and I can't hear anything if anything happens. @jsnakehole FX he gets the job!
@hardlyhannah if my job was "restructuring" which is usually code for "finding ways to move work around so we can lay people off," I'd tell them tomorrow. Usually, unless you have documented poor performance, they won't lay off the Pregnant Lady for legal reasons. It can very easily look like discrimination. :-)

The issue is I’m still pretty new! I just started I. October. On the positive side the restructure is actually to set us up for growth which means adding more support staff (I’m in a support role currently) and I’ve been told they have a plan for me but I have no idea what it is. I wasn’t worried about being laid off really but I just don’t know how they’re going to react. I did have the pregnant discrimination thought so hopefully that’s in my favor but I also won’t qualify for fmla so they don’t have to do anything for me.

FX for your husband @jsnakehole and for good news today @quinnsmom21! @ecwk I feel you on the belly. My pants are starting to have trouble buttoning and I'll be 10 weeks in a few days. I was hoping to avoid having to wear maternity clothes for a little while, but it may look like soon...
Man I feel much better today. Broke down and took some robitussin DM last night and I could actually sleep.
@derbysquirrel I use a monitor app called Dormi on an old phone to monitor DD occasionally. I wouldn't use it overnight with the setup we have but I do really like it for the occasional trip to check mail or "peeking" in from work when I was pumping. I can also talk to her through it. Things I don't care for with it: it will randomly quit on the old phone, or the camera will stop working. this can happen after a minute, or after several hours without any sort of consistency. If this happens the only fix is to restart the device. when you check video (requires an active touch) it also pulls it up on the screen of the child device. I wanted to let DD play with the old phone while monitoring her--doesn't work so well with the monitor app popping up to the forefront whenever it alerts or I want to manually check it. Monitoring via video in the dark is not really an option with this setup. No "night vision" function here. I do like the audio function much better than the old summer infant monitor we had been using. That one has a constant white noise instead of just activating the sound when something loud causes it to alert, whereas Dormi is completely silent unless it hears something, then it beeps and turns the audio on. I like that your connection doesn't depend on proximity. I could check on her when she was with DH and have the peace of mind when I still had a ton of anxiety initially going back to work.
Sorry that turned out so long! TL; DR it is nice to have but wouldn't replace a monitor full-time
Our video monitor is a cheap-o my DH got from woot.com. I think it’s actually some sort of video surveillance thing for the home but it was only $50 or $60 and has worked just fine. I haven’t decided if we will get a new one or just reuse it and ds can be without one.
I just lurked the January 18 boards and read the birth announcements cuz y'all are too quiet today. I LOVE birth stories and seeing brand new babies. Now I'm even more excited for August.
@calimom2524 I LOVE reading the birth stories and seeing pictures of all the new squishy babies. I won't post a picture of my kids here (hopefully we've moved to FB by then!), but I totally love seeing other people's posts/pics.
@calimom2524 YES I love looking ahead on the boards at the birth stories! It's so crazy to think that will be us before you know it!
I'm with @juliebird6 on the pictures though. My last BMB we had moved to FB by birth time (it was during TB mass exodus of late 2014/early 2015), so I probably wouldn't share pics here.
Can I just say that I do hope we migrate to either a private board or FB or something before the babies get here - like way before? I know in the weeks leading up to DS's birth I couldn't remember to tie my shoes - and he was a planned induction! I think there's just so much going on when the babies arrive maybe we should consider moving around May / June? Wow - now that I type that out it seems so close!
Agree with @mrsbubbles-2. I think with my last BMB we moved about 2 months prior to due dates, which was great. I think between now and May-June is plenty of time to weed out the catfish, creepers and lurkers.
@mrsbubbles-2 I suggest we go private group within the Bump first and then break to a FB group. The two transitions really helps weed out some crazies before we reveal our actual identities. Yes, we should be in the FB group around the time you said, well before any littles make their appearances
Yesterday was my birthday and my husband surprised me with accessories for my truck (new all black grill and bull bar). He managed to get it all installed while my friend and I were out for lunch. Love him!
So reading all of these birth stories has me AMAZED at how many inductions there are. I was induced with DS2 because I had adhesions on my ovaries from prior surgeries but now I'm kind of wondering if that was a cop out for my OB at the time. I wouldn't trade my birth experience for anything but geeze, it's kinda freaky! I'm totally pushing to go 100% naturally into labor this time provided we are both healthy enough. I mean, I say this now but I'm sure I'll be sining a different song if those adhesions are still there this time.
