Here to WHINE. We had to cancel our beach trip because my husband got in police academy so he can investigate arsons. I cried for like 3 hours last night. DH thought I was mad at HIM but I'm SOOO not (that would be a lame thing to be mad AT someone for). I was just really looking forward to maternity photos on the beach and laying there on the sand. The beach is my home. Sigh. I booked a different trip this morning, 2 months earlier, to the Riverwalk in San Antonio. We love SA, so it'll be fine. It's just not the beach. Totally, absolutely a first world problem and I realize I am kind of an a-hole for being upset that I had to cancel one vacation to book another.
I TOTALLY understand this. Any chance you could go to Galveston instead of SA? I'm not sure how far/close you live to either and while Galveston isn't amazing it's still a beach!
@calimom2524 briefly considered that, but with the risk of Zika, no. We are in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so neither is that far. Although, silver lining, I am starting to feel a little relieved that we won't be in the car for 11+ hours driving to the beach at 29 weeks anymore.

I just went to SA in September with my mom! We really liked it!

Is Zika bad there? I used to live there and while I know it's mosquito central in the summer, I don't remember Zika ever being confirmed there. However, I wasn't pregnant or TTC so maybe I just never paid attention.
I just had a fabulous first meeting with a potential business partner about opening a potential business. I’m super excited, overwhelmed, have a ton of questions/ideas, but it really feels like it might work!! Yay!
@Firemanswife11@calimom2524 I live in a suburb SE of Houston (closer to Galveston than Houston really). There were a few reported Zika cases last year, but those were all in Houston proper - I didn't hear of any in our immediate area. The trucks do a pretty good job of spraying in the summer.

Awww I moved away last year, we could have been neighbors!
@Firemanswife11 I’m sorry about the beach vacation. I was sad too (still am) when I cancelled our lake vacation in June. But also relieved about not driving 8-10 hrs to the lake at 34w pg. I’ll be taking DS to Cub Scout camp that week instead, so that he still gets to do something fun this summer.
This is Us has totally filled that hole that Parenthood left. We love both shows. So excited for TWD to come back! It's such a ridiculous show, but we still love it.
I have leftover pulled chicken to make burritos tonight for dinner! Horray for mexican. Especially because I have a committee meeting at DS' daycare after work, so I'll be home late.
@calimom2524@hezzer78 I got Galveston and Padre mixed up in my head lol. There were local transmissions in Cameron County, but I don't believe there were in the Houston area. However, I don't think I want to go to the beach in March anyway. Lol. We were going to go at the end of May.
I’m now puking everywhere thanks to tamiflu. I have no symptoms so I think I’m done taking it. DS’s fever finally broke last night and is normal today with no meds. I’m on a washing & cleaning frenzy.
Oh. My. God. Long story short I haven’t been working since 2014 because I had a bad mental breakdown and come to find out I have some pretty serious mental issues that I’ve been working on but have kept me from working. I’ve been trying to get on disability ever since and it takes forever and Just has not been working out and the financial strain on our family has been intense. I got a letter last night from social security that didn’t make sense so I just called them and I think I got approved! I’m completely freaking out. I left a message for the guy who’s supposedly in charge of my application since I haven’t heard anything about being approved so hopefully I’ll hear back from him soon. I called DH crying hysterically because this is such a life changer if I really did get approved finally. So. F-ing. Happy! Fingers crossed it isn’t just a paperwork error!
@jsnakehole Haha you sound like me! I am a teacher and I had Subway for dinner last night and Dunkin' every morning! Where are you located?
@Firemanswife11 That definitely sucks!!! I get it, you were looking forward to something and plans have changed
I am going to NYC for the St. Patrick's Day parade with my friend WITHOUT DH OR DS. For two nights! I have never spent a night away from DS so I am a little apprehensive but I am also super excited! I love NYC!!
ETA @mrsbubbles-2 The doomsday clock is a symbolic clock which represents how close we are to a global catastrophe. In light of all the recent talk of nuclear weapons testing, it was moved forward 30 seconds.
@Firemanswife11 I am on day 3 today. Last night I spent 30 minutes dry heaving over the toliet and already threw up today. I don’t know how I’m going to talk myself into taking it tonight or if I’ll even try to. I can’t imagine how bad it would be if I wasn’t on Diclegis!
I find it amusing every time a vendor or contractor comes to property and they have a look of "huh?" on their face when they find out I'm the depot manager. Yes, I have purple hair. Yes, I'm wearing jeans and a hoodie today. Isn't the laid back company I work for awesome? Oh yeah, you try to take advantage of me for being a woman in my position, you'll regret it.

Sorry, stuck in a box! I'd be sad too, I love the beach! Could you guys go to the same beach at a different time?
@Firemanswife11 I validate you. I would be really upset too if we had to cancel a planned beach vacation. And I'd try not to make DH feel bad, but I think secretly I would still blame him even though it sounds like it was for a really good opportunity for him.
@cthulu I hope you get some clarification and it's good news! Government agencies can be so frustrating to deal with.

My OB told me only Brownsville is off limits as far as Zika goes. I had every intention of going to Galveston this summer!
@ecwk you will have so much fun! I’ve only been away from DS overnight a few times, and I’m always apprehensive, but he’s always done Great and it just makes me excited to come home to all the hugs! It’ll be good for you!!!
@Firemanswife11 I’d be bummed about the beach trip, too, but that’s exciting for your DH!
DH and I met for lunch today and it was so nice! We don’t go out much because of DS, so we don’t have many ‘dates’. We try to do a lunch date once a month or so and it’s always nice to just have it be us, even if it is a quick lunch.
@rocknrollmom oh, yeah, we've been there several times already. So it's not like I'm missing out on some untouched piece of land. Haha. We'll probably go next summer with the new kid. If we have money. (I'm probably not working after the new kid.)
My big project today was a success! I'm pretty frickin proud of myself right now. Normally I'd be trying to think of something to serve for dinner that doesn't make me dry heave and that DSS will eat (he's not picky... just particular) and since I'm having an awesome day I think I'm going to let DH worry about it.
I haven't been to a beach since 1988 or something, it sounds really nice right now since this winter is being bipolar. For some reason I never go swimming much in the summer, but that's all I want to do in the winter.
I'm currently hiring for a couple of positions and we have the listings up on a career website. I received an application today and the man says in his previous job he operated a "4klif." I mean, I can see English is not his first language and I'm fine with that, but at least google how to spell forklift.
Why do my GIFs never work?! I go to giphy, I copy, I hit the icon, select paste and then I have to click out of that box and nothing. I used to be so good at them, but apparently my 3 years away from TB did a number on my gif skills and I’m kind of sad.

Do you press “Go” or just click out of the box? You have to press “Go” to post it. Although if you’re on android or desktop it may be different.
I just got my Progenity results, and I am clear! That is a major load off my mind! My OB now knows the sex of my fetus, so I have to be careful to not buckle and demand that she tell me.
