@ecwk I don’t get notified of @ from people on the app. When I went on the computer one day I had a few and felt like a jerk cause i didn’t respond back and like over a week had past.

4 years ago the app would notify if someone @ me.

  • @hfooter do you not get a notification like this when you are active on the app? I don’t get any notifications unless I’m actually currently in the process of using the app. Like if I go on the app later, I won’t know if anyone has tagged me and more often than not that’s the case because it’s rare that I’m actually using it and someone tags me but it just happened with you right now:

  • @ecwk yep just got that. But back in the day I’d get a notification kind of like how Facebook does, that would tell me i had been tagged in a comment. So unless I’m in the app, I don’t get notified. I think it’s a major flaw.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I agree @hfooter. And the rare times I do go on the computer I have had over 2000 notifications so I didn’t bother looking to see if anyone tagged me. (I basically read all updates anyways). I wish it had better notifications for the app too

  • I was training a new hire all afternoon, so I’m trying to catch up! I’ll be training her the next few weeks which means less time on here. Boo!

@calimom2524 I would definitely have the phone call!

In in regards to the FB group, I’m on board for it when it does happen! My last BMB migrated to FB early on because it was around the mass exodus of TB in early 2015. Some have left the FB group since, but there are about 30 of us that still chat daily. They have seriously been my lifeline the past 2.5 years with DS!

  • I love selling stuff online but I get so stressed out. We’re trying to sell some of the furniture that was in the spare room that will be the nursery. It’s literally a $20 tv stand. I have a ton of interested buyers but of course the first person isn’t getting back to me to confirm. Her last message was ‘oh kinda far’ even though I posted where pickup was in the ad! And now I don’t know what’s the right etiquette. How long do I wait for her to reply? I told her I need an answer by 8 or I’m moving on.

  • @hardlyhannah I just sold a bunch of our older and excess furniture on our local Facebook yardsale site (halfass preparing for a move). Good gravy "other people" are annoying as all hell. Although I think Craigslist is worse. But you did right, give them a clear and demonstrable time lines of events, if they don't respond, tough shit.

I think we moved to a fb group about 2 months out to birth on my last board. It was actually opened up to everyone really.

This is app is so horrible. I don’t get notified of anything and so it makes it harder to connect! I’d vote for a FB group. If you set your profile to private very little is shown to people you aren’t friends with.

I don’t get notified of anything either unless I’m actually using the app and someone tags me or comments on a thread I started. I think that’s normal!

  • Bought my first big ticket baby item! I couldn’t pass up the clearance Tula so if baby bean is a boy hes getting carried in a floral carrier lol
Love that! You’re wearing it, not the baby! Wear what you like! Same for diaper bags :)

  • @calimom2524 so did you make the call? How did it go?
  • @calimom2524 glad you called! sometimes your boss can make or break you and may not even be worth the double pay.

i ended up leaving my bmb Facebook group due to some unnecessary drama and I miss it so much. I do keep in contact with some, but I wouldn’t have made it through DS’s first year without them. I’m happy to do whatever

The birth class I took with DD1 said that 50% of FTMs are either induced or have planned c sections.  I think it's common for FTMs to go overdue.  I went into labor on my own during the 39th week both times.
Wow. That’s shocking to me, honestly. Barring medical issues or emergencies, I think doctors should have Moms wait it out until they reach 42 weeks (or 41 in some practices). Inductions are just so much more likely to lead to a C-section which could have been prevented otherwise.

I had had two healthy boys at 40w, 6d each time. I must say, I wouldn’t mind this LO coming before then, though! (But...I have huge babies).

Maybe I should’ve saved this for my UO.

Oh, and I’m obsessed with my Oct. ‘16 BMB on Facebook. It’s 70 girls and we’re so close. I’d love to strike magic twice with ladies from this board, but whether or not I’m able to stay active enough is TBD. Two kids at home keep me busy and I’m trying to make an effort to put my phone down and be present with them.

  • @F47 same here.  My Jan 17 group is so close! I actually really only go on Facebook to check in with that group!  I hardly ever even look at my own feed anymore, haha.  But I am also worried about checking in/keeping up the same way with two different groups while also trying to manage 2 under 2.  I mainly follow during the week (at work, ha oops!) because I often can't check in at all on the weekends.

@juliebird6 That’s what I used to do! But, I became a SAHM in January and I have wayyyy less time to catch up. Work time was such good social media time. lol

  • @F47 i had my son at 40+6 too. Those 6 days effing sucked but I totally agree about inducing early in the absence of a medical necessity. My friend had a five day induction. FIVE DAYS. The very thought of that makes me shudder. They wouldn't induce me until 42 weeks anyway!

My hospital won't schedule an induction for prior to 41 weeks unless there is medical need (GD, pre-e, etc).  So it's even crazier to me that so many FTMs wind up induced!  But I've thankfully never gone overdue.
  • Totally random - I just saw that Toys R Us & Babies R Us are closing a lot of stores between February and mid-April. The list included my BRU in Erie, PA and a few around Pittsburgh. So if BRU is anyone’s only choice to see how car seats fit in your car, you might want to check that out sooner rather than later. Plus the sales should be pretty good at stores closing.
  • @melprop I got an email that said the same thing. I'll definitely have to check out any store closings in my area!
  • My local BRU isn’t on the list, but a few in the area are, so I’ll be able to take advantage of the sales. Here’s the list I found:

  • Bah! I just realized it's Wednesday and I literally wore ALL black today (black pants, black cami, black loose blouse, even black socks and boots! Very Morticia Addams) and another frumpy loose shirt again.  I guess if we do HDBD today I'll have to put on a different shirt when I get home to show off my blump.
  • @juliebird6 I meant to have DH take a pic this morning before the bloat got too bad and completely forgot. All black works well if you're in front of a light background!

So DS woke up yesterday and his eye was a bit swollen - it looked like he scratched the lid or something. Now it's so puffed up he can barely open it. So we're off to the pediatrician in about 45 min. This poor kid, he can't catch a break!

  • I'm in a terrible mood today. I got no sleep, and I have a pounding headache that I'm hesitant to take anything for because I'm already pumping my kid full of 500mg amoxicillin every 6 hours. My class is being out of control today, and I feel bad that the 5 kids who always listen have to deal with me yelling, and the fact that we are probably not going to have a lunar new year party because of their friends. I wish I could just throw out my curriculum for the rest of the day and practice how we're supposed to behave.

  • @juliebird6 I end up wearing all black almost everyday. Sometimes I through some white or gray. I guess I need some color in my wardrobe.

I am so embarrassed to take a bump pic! I feel like I am showing way too much already. I keep telling myself that part of it is from have surgery but I am pretty sure it if from all the crap I have been shoving in my face. I hate having my picture taking anyway. DH and I are terribly unphotogenic and we only have a handful of pictures together that we both look good. I always say we are both Chandlers -

  • @brezzy1928 I love that episode so so so much haha

  • @juliebird6 I wear all black all day everyday. Actually, today, I've spiced it up, and I have a white shirt under a black vest. Totally boring, but I really like simplicity and it makes my wardrobe so easy.
  • @jsnakehole hugs on a rough teaching day. I don’t miss that (former elem music teacher here). I fully support you scrapping your lessons to review classroom procedures. It sounds like it might be worth the effort if you can help the kids refocus.

@mrsbubbles-2 I hope your kiddo feels better. Mine had something like that happen last year. Seemed like the same virus just presented itself differently throughout the body. It sucked. Also, I feel the same about the compliment you gave everyone!

  • @hardlyhannah What a great not-holiday-holiday! In honor of National Compliment day I want to say that I think the ladies on this board are funny, witty and incredibly intelligent. I love that women from so many different walks of life can come together and find our common ground. You are all amazing <3
    I second all of this!!

also I hope your little guys eye is okay :-(
