  • @calimom2524 I was induced because I was 41w and all my U/S everyone kept telling me he was "huge" so my OB was worried that I wouldn't be able to deliver him if he continued growing in there.  He was 8lbs, 6oz and I had 3rd degree tears.  They were probably right.
  • Oh I'm not against inductions at all! Like I said, I had one. Just reading so many birth stories and most of them are inductions it kinda freaks me out. If I had ever made it to 41w I would have been begging anyone and everyone to induce me. Those last few weeks are so miserable!

  • @calimom2524 Totally!  Once I got to that due date I was like...Ok, it's here, let's do this.  And every hour after that felt like an eternity.  I'm so literal.  A due date is a due date, let's go kid.
  • @neeraja_k Happy birthday!  Very thoughtful of your H.

@calimom2524 Add me to the induction club too.  I was 41+5 though, so mine was 100% necessary lol.  I feel sure DD would have been 2 months late if left to her own devices.  She wasn't even big.  7 lbs, 8 oz.
  • @neeraja_k happy birthday! Very thoughtful gift!
  • Haha @juliebird6 I still say to this day DS2 would probably go back in the womb if he had the option. He's 3 and still the clingiest, cuddliest little dude. I was induced at 39w1d with him so who knows how long he would have stayed in there! When my ovaries started sticking to my uterus it was time for him to GTFO. Also, I had him 3 days before Thanksgiving so I think my OB wanted to make sure she wasn't interrupted on her holiday  :p

  • A while back I mentioned starting like a TMI thread for all things labor/delivery related. (Like, FTMs - all you could ever want to know about L&D, **TMI Warnings**)  Do y'all think it's a good time to start that?  I feel like we keep having previous birth stories strewn into our randoms, so maybe it would be good to keep all of that to one place?
  • I think my D14 bump group moved to FB in like November. I definitely agree maybe a month or two ahead is a good idea. I can also help admin whenever we're ready, I still admin our D14 FB group.

  • I have the dentist at 4, but I have to get through a parent meeting first. And my crazy parents are out-crazying themselves. I just want to go home and sleep for a million hours.

Benched due to deployment- Off the bench 8/8/17!

  • My bump is popping out so much faster than last time. I'm dreading my appointment on Thursday to see how much weight I've already gained. It's so much harder the second time. I don't think I put on maternity jeans until like 18w last time. I'm 12+4 and already in maternity pants. Ugh. And I feel awful. Nausea is much worse too. I threw up this morning and then ate a huge lunch. Bleh.
Also, I'm totally in my head about gender and symptoms. Like, every little symptom I compare to last time. It doesn't help that I found a few scientific backed articles that say nausea is more common with girls. I have a son, so I'm wondering if the increased nausea is because we're having a girl this time or just because. And, we're team green, so I'll have to wait 6 months to find out.
For the monitors, we use a security camera(Samsung) with an app on our phones. We love it because we both have a screen, but hate it for other reasons. I'll elaborate more when we do a product spotlight on them.
  • And of course I totally forgot that the genetic counselor is calling me at 4, so now I'll have to pretty much be like 'talk to my husband!' And then throw the phone at him.

  • How often/much does someone have to participate to be considered a regular/active enough to make it to a fb group? I was more active on my last bmb and did make it to the fb group which I prefer to use, but this time I’ve got so much more on my plate and just don’t check in as much.
  • @LC12261012 typically there's a question to get into the FB group and it's usually just what is your TB name then it's voted on by the group if your name is recognized and your name is searched in TB to see how active you are/have been.

Hugs. I really don't think you can read that much into the symptoms. I had so much nausea with my first two pregnancies - both boys. This one so much less nauseous, and lo and behold, it's a girl! I do remember convincing myself super early though that DS2 was a boy because that pregnancy was "so different" (in hindsight I think each pregnancy is just different).

  • @westphilly so much more sick this time and I’m having another boy.

Thanks! And, yes, totally this. I know this intellectually, but so hard to keep reminding myself.
  • Also, sorry to use gender when I meant to use the word sex. Especially after the whole dust-up on the girl/boy thread.  No flames please!
  • My random: I keep reaching for the Facebook "like" options - the surprised face, angry face etc on here to commiserate with people having a rough day or whatever, then remember we only have love-tits. Don't want to love-tit someone getting crappy news but darn it I want a way to offer support with one button! The lazy person's show of support lol.

  • @neeraja_k happy birthday!

RE baby monitors: I was too paranoid about using one with WiFi because it can be easily hacked. Too many creepy stories out there. That said, we do have a home security camera on WiFi, just the thought of someone looking at my baby just weirds me out.

@derbysquirrel I know this was a few pages back, but I’m pretty sure people were talking about Beachbody (a health and fitness company) not South Beach.

  • @cthulu bummer that you might be leaving us for September, but HOORAY for still being on a board! Glad your numbers are moving in the right direction!
  • Out of 106 genetic diseases I am free of 105. I'm waiting for Natera to send me an email about what I am a carrier for, and now DH has to get his blood tested. The odds of our baby being effected if he's not a carrier is .6%, so I'm really hoping he's not, because then it goes up to 25%.

@cthulu I understand if you want to because of a new EDD but I really hope you don't leave us!

@jsnakehole Yay! Great news! FX your H is not a carrier for any of them!

  • @calimom2524 definitely at least do the interview!
  • @calimom2524 When my local hospital had a L&D unit, over 75% of births were induced. The hospital is tiny and sends anything major to a larger hospital. They only staff anesthesiologists M-F, 7am-3pm. So if you went into labor after 3pm like I did with DS, you couldn’t get an epidural if you wanted one. Thus many women opted to be induced near their due dates in order to be guaranteed some pain relief. The hospital doesn’t have L&D anymore, and I was relieved to hear that the hospital I’ll deliver this baby at offers epi’s 24/7.
  • And my wisdom tooth is massively infected. Hurray pencillin four times a day for a week. I'll have to have it out as soon as possible. This day just keeps getting better!

@jsnakehole Booo to the infection! Hopefully the doc can take it out quick and heal up fast! Also FX your husband isn't a carrier!

@neeraja_k Happy birthday girl! What a great surprise! How sweet of your H to do that :)

@mrsbubbles-2 That birth story is hilarious. I would totally be down for a 'share your birth story' thread - although I think we should definitely have a 'WIsh I knew/FYI for FTMs' a little closer to due date? For selfish reasons - just so I don't forget it exists :)

@ecwk Did your previous BMB have a private group first and then FB? Or just straight to FB?

Man -bumping during work is tough. I have to catch up when I get home :)

    ETA:

@cthulu So glad to see your numbers going in the right direction! How far into September would you be? You can stay here. We won't tell. ;)
  • I haven't been able to pop in and keep up but Happy Birthday @neeraja_k

My belly seems like it has a pooch but it's probably from my first two kids.  I'll give it another week or two to really pop.

I was induced with DD1 at 42 weeks!! I was completely miserable and it sucked.

Agree with weeding out the crazies before we share more personal info.  Hopefully I'll pass the "active enough" test, I try to get on here as much as I can.  Damn work getting in the way!!

Also, pancakes for dinner sounds delectable so that's what I'm shoving in my face tonight.

  • @mrsbubbles-2 I suggest we go private group within the Bump first and then break to a FB group.  The two transitions really helps weed out some crazies before we reveal our actual identities.  Yes, we should be in the FB group around the time you said, well before any littles make their appearances
Moving to a private group within TB is actually a really good idea!  This way we can get a feel for things before we make the official move.

  • @hezzer78 I’m floating somewhere around September 15th I think but I honestly have no clue lol.

Also second everyone talking about a private bump group. It felt so much more intimate when I was in one before from my old bmb. It also made the transition to FB super simple since we already had weeded everyone out lol.
  • I think we moved to a fb group about 2 months out to birth on my last board. It was actually opened up to everyone really.

This is app is so horrible. I don’t get notified of anything and so it makes it harder to connect! I’d vote for a FB group. If you set your profile to private very little is shown to people you aren’t friends with.

  • The birth class I took with DD1 said that 50% of FTMs are either induced or have planned c sections.  I think it's common for FTMs to go overdue.  I went into labor on my own during the 39th week both times.

I don’t get notified of anything either unless I’m actually using the app and someone tags me or comments on a thread I started. I think that’s normal!
