  • Does anyone have any thoughts on bike riding with a little newborn? Is it even possible? I have a trailer, but do they make attachments for tiny humans that can't support themselves? Or would babywearing work? Or am I just being too ambitious for the summer thinking I'll ride my bike?
  • @emilyalso we used the pee pads for changing DD all the time too! I remember a few pooplosions with her. And she would always pee once she felt cool air down there once the diaper came off. I would expose her then cover back up, let her go then put on a new diaper. DH on the other hand would remove the diaper then be like oh sh*t while she peed in between. He never learned. Smh lol

  • So, I've been pretty active today...not busy at all! Anyway, I know I've mentioned the pain and possible lightening crotch going on today, but I have a question. Is it normal to start feeling that at any point in pregnancy? I'm 32+5 and its like everything hit me this week, and more today! He keeps moving around, which has become a little painful, nothing horrible, but enough to be uncomfortable. Then the pressure in my pelvis and some pain there as well, like right under my belly. I assume this is all normal, just curious if this is when it typically starts or if it is just different for everyone. I feel better if I stand or lay down because then it feels like he's not as cramped in there like when sitting at my desk at work. Sorry for the rambling...

I've been wondering the same thing!  We love bike riding and have no idea how to accomplish it without a baby sitter?  I'm thinking that maybe until they're old enough to have their own helmet that it might not be possible to take them in the trailer or on a seat? Of course I'm a FTM so I have no idea!
  • @emilyalso - I love that idea! I have a ton of pee pads that my mom gave us when I was potty training DS that we never used and that I had been considering giving away but now I am definitely putting them on the changing table!

@SWoodd2012 Congratulations!! Glad all is well!

@ShadeofGreen816 Thank you for the mattress cover suggestion. Added to my cart. I think Amazon should love BMB because I swear at least 1/3 of what I buy is from y'alls recommendations.

@MrsFox2008 Hope you feel better soon!

    ETA:

@absbubbs I've been wondering this as well. Unfortunately, I don't think babywearing is safe on a bike. IF there's a fall, baby has 0% protection. Maybe just have to wait...

@BabyMC517 FTM here, but I think symptoms can crop up at any time, especially new pains at the end/later.

@mcvgal I'm so glad you had great NICU nurses!
  • @jayandaplus I've thought about that, if we were to tip over. But in all reality, with a kid attached to the bike, a tip over would almost always result in injury. And I already plan on getting one of those seats that attach directly to the bike when the kid is big enough because I'm not super excited about the trailers.
  • @absbubbs Yes, but a kid that can sit in an attachment wearing a helmet is much different than a soft newborn.
  • So I ran over something omw home now my tire is close to flat. We have an air compressor in the garage but this leak is so bad that the tire is unusable on the car even with a fill up. I really didn't need this expense now!
My son only peed if it was chilly so I was super lucky with diaper changes.
  • @bacorrea I think our pediatricians always recommended to wait til at least 6 months old to run with the jogging stroller!

Yeah! I've heard as early as 12 weeks, but then I've seen 6-8 months. So that's why I said just ask the pedi! I feel like recommendations always changing with this stuff!

Omg trailers are soooo heavy and my DD constantly took her helmet off and I wouldn't know because she was behind me. We ended up selling ours.
  • Congrats @SWoodd2012

@Louise_Belcher if you're worried about your couch I would recommend covering a large section of it with a blanket when the baby comes. Between milk leaking and spit up, DS did a number on ours during the early days.
  • So Disney Channel is premiering a new show next week called "Andi Mack" the preview features Andi who is about to be 13 and her older sister Bex who comes home from being gone a long time. The trailer says there is a huge secret that is going to change Andi's life. My siblings are interested in it, so I was googling to find out what the secret is. Turns out, Andi's sister is actually Andi's Mom and Andi has been raised by her grandparents. Therefore the show is going to be about Andi dealing with finding out this new info at 13 and trying to find out who her dad is.

I know teen pregnancy happens, I'm not judging the situation, I just think it's a little heavy for Disney Channel. How do you go from Tangled Ever After, to a show about teen pregnancy? I feel like Disney doesn't understand who their demographic is? Idk. Maybe I am way off. I don't think my parents are going to allow my siblings who are 9 & 10 to watch the show.
  • @bacorrea i feel like that is a little much too. Ive been suprised by what all is in kids shows. I felt like my parents sheltered me when i was younger and now im seeing why. There is nothing wrong with a show like that, just not for little kids.

  • @bacorrea so curiosity got the best of me and I had to watch Andi Mack on YouTube. I agree there is nothing wrong with that subject matter, but not for kids. What also bothered me is the pilot seemed very poor production and bad acting. It seemed to me like it is destined to fail.

  • @RainyDays86, so sorry that happened to your son! My friend's toddler had a broken leg recently and he definitely found a way to keep moving around and being active. I hope he's feeling better. It sounds like you have a ton going on, but you'll get through it!

  • @RainyDays86 I am so sorry to hear about your little one's leg! My son fractured his leg the same exact way when he was about 16 months old, except he was on my lap. I felt like the worst mom ever, but apparently it's a pretty common thing. If it makes you feel any better, he healed totally fine and has no lasting issues, and he did end up figuring out how to hobble along in his cast.

I'm so sorry about the timing of all this though, thinking of you guys and hoping he makes a quick recovery!
  • @RainyDays86 DS2 broke his leg when he was 20 months. He learned to scoot around, army crawl, and even walk on it. It's amazing how quickly kids are able to adapt. Sorry your little guy has to go through it, but I am sure he will surprise you.
