@Jens_Hoes@WombThereItIs with my DD I struggled really bad with the weight gain. This time around I expected it a little more. I"m starting to get those old feeling back, but i'm trying to be more positive this time around. Last time I had PPD really bad and the feelings I had about my body and the extra weight made it so much worse. Just know that it DOES come off! Just remember the weight gain is temporary and so worth it in the end!
... In regards to the low motion feeling at my last cervix ultrasound my little lady is head down on my cervix no fluid barrier anymore which was there two weeks ago. I really feel a ton in the bladder and back end these days! I also feel her way over to the right like her feet and knees must be over there its so much different than my son. He was polite, she is def not
Your description of her not being polite is exactly how I feel! Her head and hands are low and just go non-stop. And her legs are constantly pushing out along the top and sides of my uterus. My whole belly will *pop* and shift, it's kind of creepy. And like @SKZW said, I'll get those diagonal arm and leg hits at the same time, too. The other day, I could distinctly feel her butt up in the air, and I showed by husband. Pretty neat, but at the same time, sometimes I'd like her to cool it just a little (especially when she's pummeling my hips).
@rkstro2: yes, do start a baby showers thread! People like seeing those kinds of pics (decor, food, glowing mamas). And you could title it to include maternity photos, too, maybe, if you worry there's not a lot of interest, so it could be one big celebration thread, just a thought.
Random, and this may belong in the GD check in thread, but I got a medical research update today and it included this article about GD. Basically, this study found that, even when controlling for other factors like BMI, activity level, etc, women who started their periods earlier in life had higher risk of GD. https://www.medpagetoday.com/endocrinology/diabetes/63588
Not sure if that will work without a subscription, but I think it should. Interesting reading for any other nerds like me
Thanks everyone @Yiggle09, we're hoping it'll work out for the best and maybe he will actually get a job paying more as it appears he's possibly a bit underpaid now.

This is very interesting. Anectdotally, I was 12 and am not overweight, but I've had GD with both of my pregnancies. Diabetes is also rampant in my family, which is depressing me about my outlook.
As for baby's movements. Baby has an aggressive little butt up near the top of my uterus and then sneaky little feet that like to tuck into my ribs. I really feel like they don't need to be waaaaaay down there quite yet though. Like, stop poking me in the vag!
@nda_roxybabe , I'm so sorry to hear about your DH's job situation. It does sound promising that he may be able to find something higher paid!!
@bacorrea , YES, what is with that Daniel Tiger episode? I get enough stomping without a cartoon directing it as some form of anger relief. I'm also pretty sure that stomping 3 times would not result in a smiling, calm child, as it seems to in the episode.
Add me to the list of people being beat up by their little ones constantly. I don't remember my DS moving nearly as much as this little lady. She's just constantly squirming and punching/kicking...it makes me nervous that she's going to be a total pill when she breaks out of there in a few short weeks.
Also, add me to the list of people feeling extra cranky these days. I'm just SO over everything and everyone. I want to lock myself in a room alone until this baby comes because I hate feeling like this. DH was mentioning this morning that he wanted to plan some get togethers with friends before the baby comes and I basically told him that he's welcome to schedule them, but I'm really not interested in sitting around while they all drink and I'm miserable. Sigh.

That is quite interesting! I was a "late bloomer" at 16, and my blood sugar was extremely low at my test and has been for all 3 pregnancies.

There isn't a monday bitchfest so I am going to put it here. We went to visit my husband's italian family this weekend. We stayed there overnight saturday which was fine sleep wise with ds but my son is sensitive to food changes. The last time we went to visit; where he was able to eat all the food available he had horrible poops blow outs and some of it was dyed purple from home made tricolor cookies and of course I got a call from daycare because I did not think to prepare them that he had eaten all sorts of crazy food and might have tummy troubles. Flash forward to today around 1030 I get text from his daycare lady telling me he has had 3 blow outs and is crying off and on- this is after I left him with her and he was smiling and running around. Thankfully I did warn her this time he might have tummy troubles. She told me she leaves at noon and the girls might call me to pick him up if he doesn't get better in the afternoon. Now I wish I could just fly over and get him and spend his sick days with him but that isn't the world I live in. I need my daycare to follow their own policies and only call me if it is a certain amount of pooping in a certain amount of time. You cannot call me to come get him because he is having an off day personality wise. Trust me if I could I would leave for that and make him feel better. I just feel bad but want to stick to my guns as well.
Just catching up on the board as I've had quite a busy weekend. We had our baby shower celebration with MH's family in L.A. We had so much fun seeing everyone and catching up... it was worth the time & effort for sure. The 6-7 hour drive there wasn't bad but the drive home was torture. My back and hips hurt and DS was so over being in his car seat. Luckily, I slept amazingly well last night after having little to no sleep over the last week.
Re: diaper bags- we started with a Coach diaper bag we were gifted but quickly switched to a Fisher Price diaper back pack quickly as it was more functional. I'm sticking with the diaper back pack type and want to get The Honest Co. vegan diaper back pack.
@bacorrea MH and I HATE that episode and always move on to the next episode.
@Yiggle09 when you first sentence said something about your DH Italian family i was bracing for much crazier! my fiance's family is 100% Italian and they are NUTS sometimes! I joke with him all the time that it was a good thing i was knocked up before he took me to a big family function up north, because otherwise I would have run for the hills, luckily I love them all now! Anyways... i'm sorry about your DS.. I'm with you, I would stick to your guns and let them know that you really can't just take the day off because he is having an off day as long as his stomach troubles don't fall in the guidelines of HAVING to be picked up.
@BeachMommy2B ohh there is alot I could say about this weekend, italian relatives and pregnancy related conversation annoyances but i have to refrain! Trying to just put it behind me and brace for the next one. You know nothing I could have said would have stopped people from slipping him all this nonsense food he never eats, that would be offensive to them....
@Yiggle09 the Italian family part is cracking me up a little because both DH and I are Italian and they are definitely loud and crazy (but well meaning) most of the time. It's hard when the older generations clash with the younger ones and get offended about things like food (or just the fact that we do things differently now than in their day). So I've got sympathy for you!
Ok based on the Deals thread, I know we have some Noggle lovers around here. I'm in Indiana so the summers are definitely hot but not insane and typically are mid-may to early/late sept depending on the year. Is this something I should consider?
@ShadeofGreen816 Interesting. I didn't have GD with my first but have it now with my second. I had PCOS before which is a major risk factor for GD but also started early at 12.

My family is German on both sides and my husband always complains when we are together. He said it's like a contest on who can talk the most and talk the loudest between my parents and siblings and I. Apparently we all talk over each other!
I just shared on the monday ticker change but felt like i should share here too since ive shared about their discordance on here before... Just got home from my appointment. The babies are now only 11% different, so that is good. Baby b needs to be checked again next week bc she has too much fluid but my ob seems to think it was probably from her positioning on ultrasound. Bc of the pink discharge this morning she planned to do ffn and a cervix check and begin steroid shots if the ffn was positive, however after checking my cervix she did the steroid shots right away..i go back tmw for the second dose. Also, she said its time to be on modified bed rest.. So that will be interesting with dd
I think the concern is preterm labor but as far as delivering bc of their size difference, the fact that it went from 17% to 11% is good and means they are still considered concordant (20% is the cut off) so no reason to deliver early... As far as the fluid, im not too sure what that means, i assume we will talk in more detail about that if the u/s next week comes back elevated again.
Interesting info about GD. I was an earlier starter (summer between 4th and 5th grade which I think put me at 10 years old?) I also have PCOS which increases my risk but I had low blood sugar with DD and normal with this pregnancy.
Just got back from my monthly growth ultrasound at the MFM. Baby is continuing to do well despite the two rounds of chemo we've undergone. He/she is now in the 89th percentile (up from the 66th) which was a little shocking but good since the biggest concern during chemo was slowed growth. DH and I are tall people and DS was measuring big at our 20 week ultrasound with him so it isn't totally unexpected that this baby would be big as well. It also explains why I've suddenly had a jump in my weight after almost two months of no weight gain at all. I had a really strong urge to look when the tech measured the femur (she tells us to close our eyes since we're team green so we don't accidentally glimpse anything) but I maintained my willpower.
@nda_roxybabe - Sorry for your DH. Fingers crossed that he finds something soon! We're going through a similar situation. Losing your job sucks to begin with, let alone when you're expecting a baby.
I've been feeling really happy lately for no reason. Then I get really sad out of the blue and will burst into tears. Then back to happy like nothing ever happened. I'm sure DH finds me a joy to live with right now.
@Jkp7749 T&P for many more weeks of growing for your LOs. @RainyDays86 great update!!! I am still floored that you can get chemo while pregnant. I don't work with an oncology population, but anytime we have patients on chemo, anyone who is pregnant avoids them like the plague! @LilMissCrafty I've been similarly mood swing-y. Add to it that I felt like total crap all weekend I'm sure he's more in love with me than ever!
@ShadeofGreen816 thank you for sharing! I started at 10 and was angry and bitter about it, and now have GD (despite hippie nerd diet and exercise habits), and am angry and bitter about it THANKS SCIENCE! (It's actually ended up being really manageable but was a shock and disappointment at first.)
I also have a very acrobatic baby and like @Kipperoo I can't help ascribing the baby's overactivity to personality--in my mind she'll be no shy bookish type but will be born straight-up thrasher punk rock, heaven help us all.
Ok based on the Deals thread, I know we have some Noggle lovers around here. I'm in Indiana so the summers are definitely hot but not insane and typically are mid-may to early/late sept depending on the year. Is this something I should consider?
I live in AZ and I have black interior. I don't have a Noggle in my car, but DH has one in his. I have the darkest/most UV resistant tint I could get and great air circulation. I don't have vents in the back, but my car cools quickly. I think it depends on your car & air circulation. The Noggle is a bit annoying when you are a passenger in DH's car.
@ShadeofGreen816 that is so interesting about pregnant hospital staff avoiding patients undergoing chemo! I guess it kind of makes sense since you're dealing with bodily fluids and certain chemo, including the one I'm on now, are excreted through bodily fluids for the first 36 hours or so but my guess is if you work in a hospital you're pretty practiced at avoiding direct contact with bodily fluids. Is there any other reason or just that the toxicity of chemo is scary? As a side note, I will say it has surprised me how much variation there is in peoples understanding of pregnancy and cancer. I've heard multiple stories of women whose OBs told them they couldn't do chemo while pregnant or even stories of oncologists who tell women they should just terminate rather than go through treatment while pregnant. I know we're a rare breed but it is crazy how much older knowledge persists about pregnant cancer patients!
@ShadeofGreen816 we are going to be in El Paso, TX aka surface of the sun. I have vents above each seat in the van and my car will be in the garage when at home. I think it's like @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot said, it depends on your car.
Mobile bumping so I apologize for not tagging/responding to everyone! Just know my love it's mean support and thinking about you all!
It it was a long day today! GTT this morning, apartment hunting (found one, yay! And so close to my work!), and finally OB appt where I got my TDaP. I'm exhausted...but I feel sooo much better knowing we've found a place and are submitting the app tonight!
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." ~Charlie Chaplin
Thanks for the info on the Noggle @bacorrea and @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot. My car is garaged most of the time, and I don't anticipate LOTS of outings where the car will be parked in the hot sun all day and we won't have time to hang out to let it cool down. It looks a little cumbersome.
@RainyDays86 Yes, well I work in ICU, so we definitely come into contact with bodily fluids and there's not much that can be done about it, often. Also, there are SO many types of chemo and some are more dangerous for pregnant women than others (from what little I understand). It's one of those things that I think it's easiest and safest for us to just draw a line in the sand and say "No pregnant caregivers" for these patients (we also include CMV, shingles, etc.). As a group, we're pretty protective over our pregnant mamas, since there's always a few. There's certainly enough non-pregnant ones to make up for it. That being said, I work on our hospital's "rapid response team," which is essentially like calling 911 from within the hospital. Nurses, patients, or family members can call (it's 99% nurses of the patients) if they feel like the patient is deteriorating and needs evaluation. I've had a few times this pregnancy where I've had to go into a room where I wasn't 100% sure baby was safe in there, but I just kept my distance and/or wore a mask if it was infectious. By and large, MOST things won't affect baby and I would hate for one of our patients to not get the treatment they need/deserve while I wait for someone to come up and replace me. I'm half surprise and half not that there are OBs that know nothing about chemo and pregnancy, but it's upsetting that there are oncologists out there who won't encourage a woman to continue a pregnancy! Sorry for the novel, I have just really been fascinated by your story, as it's something that's near to my heart but so outside of my medical comfort zone!
@fbmandy55 - So sorry to hear about your friends flaking out on your shower! A ton of my friends did that at my bridal shower and it totally broke my heart!
@nda_roxybabe - Sorry about your H's job. Hope something comes up for him soon!
@WombThereItIs - I agree with previous poster, close your eyes during weigh in. I was so afraid the doctor was going to yell at me about weight gain at my last appointment but she didn't say a word, completely shocked me!
I have a short week this week and am so excited! Thursday we are leaving for a mini staycation in Colorado Springs. Nothing big and fancy just getting a hotel with a pool and taking DS to do some fun stuff as our last little trip as a family of 3!
@ShadeofGreen816 - DIEHARD NOGGLE FAN HERE! I would say it's a good purchase no matter how hot your summers are! Carseats do. not. breathe. And even on days when I thought it wasn't that hot out, DS's back would be wet when I got him out. I felt like it was a self-perpetuating problem in some ways - like... he was hot, so he cried, which made him hotter, etc. I will be buying a second Noggle for this baby for sure.
ETA: I'm so glad I saw your post! I only check the deals thread every now and then and might have missed the sale - thank you!
Not a word about my weight today. Apparently it looks good and I'm just crazy. Bummed to hear my doc's last day is 3 weeks before I'm due but it sounds like he plans to keep me right up to the end which is nice.
My BP is starting to creep up so I think my VBAC plans are becoming very long odds. Not really anything I can do to help it but it sucks all the same.
@mamatowildones I ordered that shower dress of yours and it came in today. I love it! Thank you very much for turning me on to it! I have the perfect event for it.
