Well, I ended up calling my OBGYN cause I'm still having shortness of breath (going on almost a day now) and my H suggested I check just to be safe. I've never had it last longer than a minute or so at a time before. I assume it's nothing...just my lungs getting mushed or something? But they're having me come in to check my lung sounds and pulse ox.
with my last pregnancy I was short of breath all the time in the 3rd trimester. It helped to stretch my arms above my head, bend my elbows and just try to relax and take a deep breath.
Yep, me too. DS was just really high up and squishing my lungs. The benefit was I rarely got bladder kicks so hopefully you have that trade off going on as well.
@starphish18 with dd i was constantly out of breath from very early on bc i carried her so dang high!!
Yall im so bad at tagging bc this pregnant brain cannot remember names for the life of me- but yes window clings have been a hit in the past! Ill have to check out that sink too, sounds like something different so it might keep her attention longer!!
That second steroid shot is no joke! I just walked out of there limping holding my butt and i didnt even care who saw (even though that would normally mortify me!)!
And yes, @sweaterboots, you deserve to vent! That sounds so frustrating!
@starphish18 Hope all is well! I had shortness of breath with DD1 and DD2 because I carried so high! They literally had their feet in my lungs it felt like. With this LO I'm carrying super low and his feet now hang out in my bladder. I'm not sure which is worse haha

@Jkp7749 Sometime between 1 and 2 my son went through a huge kitchen utensil phase. A whisk, silicone baking brush (great for chewing), and a wooden spoon would make his damn day. Also those blender bottles for protein shakes make great noise when you shake them and throw them around the kitchen floor. it isn't quiet but its free!
@WombThereItIs i love free and dd does love kitchen stuff! Maybe we will just rotate rooms each morning and afternoon and see what we can get into to hopefully keep things fresh!
Went to Target and bought Moana! I can't decide if I am going to regret it when my kids want to watch it 1000 times or if I'm just happy they will choose something besides Trolls now!
We are watching that for "movie night" tonight. We took her to see it in the theater for her first movie, so I'm excited to see how excited she is to see it again!

I feel like kind-of a jerk ranting about it because some homeowners with damage had to deal with the actual financing and hiring themselves, but dealing with a tricky landlord is so frustrating too. @bacorrea Yes! Los Angeles exploded in such a hurry in the 20's that they really didn't plan drainage well at all... It sounds silly having rain be such an issue, but we've also been in a severe drought for 6 years so lots of leaks and infrastructure weaknesses have had a lot of time to develop and not be exposed until now
@Jkp7749@ChristinaWild Thank you DH and I have been trying to see the humor but last night when we found out we'd have to cover everything and leave next week we both admitted we were just fed up!
I have a doctors appointment in the morning, I am kind of just like "why?" I am going every two weeks now and it just seems so pointless. It's amazing how chill I am compared to my first pregnancy. Haha.
@bacorrea I'm kind of with you on the every 2 weeks, and I'm a FTM who sort of loves to go to the doctor. It seems silly! I'm glad because that means I'm getting closer to meeting this babe, but it seems excessive. Can't wait until the WEEKLY appointments!
Blerg. I was really hoping I'd go to my appt and she'd say, "You're crazy! This is normal. Go home. Eat pizza." She did say everything looked good with my lungs (they sounded good and I had 100% oxygen saturation in my blood), but she ordered a few tests. So, I'm getting some labs done and I'll wear a holter monitor for a day to check my heart rhythm. I think, since I was able to pinpoint when this started and it hasn't let up, she wants to be cautious. I still do think it's nothing...just some squishing because of baby...but I also have a history of heart problems in my family. Most notably, my mom had an arrhythmia, her heart stopped, she ended up in a coma, had a valve replacement, and has a defibrillator. So, I'll happily wear a monitor for a day to make sure everything is ok there.
@lrwardrop@RainyDays86@jkp7749@hp_momma You all mentioned feeling out of breath. Was it just -all- the time? Or would it come and go? I've frequently had come-and-go shortness of breath during this pregnancy, but this has been a constant feeling for the past 24 hours. It feels like I'm breathing through a dense fog, and if I try to take a deep breath, it feels like I just can't get my lungs to expand all the way. It's like I can't catch up my breath, but I'm not dizzy or anything.
Argh our landlords just said they are planning on selling our house and we are not in a position to buy right now and I don't love renting. Our lease ends 6/30. We can extend by 6 mo or just leave then. Part of me wants to just go at the end of June- we do live right next to a very loud highway and it's getting old. Is it insane to move with a 1 mo old and 2.5 year old?

I moved 1000 miles away with a 6wk old and 2.5yr old! I think moving with an infant is actually easier because they are less mobile. You just babywear and go! If you wait 6 months, you'll have a mobile 7 month old getting into everything!

I will be moving at the end of June to join my DH in TX. It's like 1800 miles. Honestly it will probably be easier with a 1 month old than a 7 month old (if you extend the 6 months). 1 month old still just kind of lays there and sleeps. 7 month old will be much more active.
Just wondering if anyone else hasn't gained "enough" weight. I'm 30 weeks and I'm at 131. I was at 132 at my last appointment (26 weeks). In total, I've gained 13 pounds, and my BMI was at around 19 when I got pregnant. Most of the charts say that I should be gaining between 25- 35 pounds, so I'm a bit worried. I have an appointment tomorrow, so I plan on bringing it up then- just wondering where everyone else is.
@starphish18 I've been having shortness of breath too and I always feel kicks near my ribs so I'm assuming it's because I'm carrying high.
@kns1988 That really sucks that your house fell through, but I'm sure it's for the better. We bought a few years ago and a lot came up at our inspection too. I was really hesitant to go through with the sale, but my husband is pretty handy and wanted a fixer upper so we bought it anyway. Two years later, the house looks beautiful, but we still have a heating system that needs to be replaced and a roof that's on it's way out in the next few years. If I were to go back in time, I would pass on our house.
Thanks for the commiseration and sympathy on the house. I can't believe it's only Tuesday because this has been a hell of a week! We might be needing to replace a car, now, too.
@sweaterboots, sorry that so much is going wrong with your apartment! I had one like that. The walls were leaking, the ceiling fell down... the last straw was when there was a RAT in my apartment after I had told them a million times that they needed to do a better job of managing the trash outside. We moved after that. I have a total rat phobia. But anyways, I hope that you and your husband don't have to deal with much more and that they can get everything fixed.

@RainyDays86 - I saw your post on the TMI thread, but have we heard an update from you in a while? No pressure! I just want to make sure I haven't missed it.
@starphish18 Glad your O2 sats were good. Hopefully, the monitor reveals nothing and it truly is just baby positioning.
@Hansolosparka I agree with @hp_momma and @bacorrea that it'll be easier at 1 month vs 7. I'll be moving around the same time with the newborn and 22 month old. It'll be lots of delegating and baby wearing for me.
@sweaterboots and @erinh2005 Cali rainstorms...ugh! I'm up in Northern California and it's been quite a mess up here too. Sorry for your added stresses but glad it's all working out.
I just really want to crack my back. I have this ache in my mid-back all across where my bra line is. I just want to get on all fours and arch like a cat... but I'm at work Although THAT would be quite a sight'
Thanks folks. It's reassuring to hear this is probably just the baby, although I'm not thrilled this might be my norm for the next few months. And thanks for being my sounding board. It does help ease my anxiety just to vocalize what's going on.
ETA: @lrwardrop It does feel like it opens up the area under my ribs when I put my arms over my head like you suggested, thanks!
@chocolatelemons I can't say that I personally have your problem and it would be easy for me to say that I wish I was in your shoes. But I know that is unfair. Your doctor will have the best advice as they know all the things about you and your situation. In general, your best bet is to work hard on eating multiple small meals every 3-4 hours, get as much nutrient-dense food as you can (think fresh food, least processes as possible) and lots of protein. If you don't like meat, nuts are a great source of protein and good fats for you and baby. If all else fails and a DQ blizzard or a BigMac sounds up your alley, go for it. Everything in moderation. You are clearly a smaller-built person so you may just have trouble gaining. Every other time in your life this would be good! Sorry this is probably all info you know already but that's what we tell our skinny mammas at the clinic.
@chocolatelemons I haven't been told anything this time but with my twins my calorie intake was a concern. If your OB is concerned enough, they may send you to the nutritionist for a consultation. I ended up on a high calorie diet at the end.
@sweaterboots: I'm sorry you have to deal with ALL of that! What a PITA! And having to move out temporarily on top of all the damage, what a total pain. Hang in there!
@starphish18: The 24-hour monitor is a really prudent step to take. Esp since it's such a constant ever-present feeling of breathing through fog like you said. Hang in there, and I hope it's a temporary feeling.
@nda_roxybabe: so did you end up getting that PB-Choc-banana thing for dinner? If not, there's always tomorrow. And if you did: so jealous!
@Kipperoo: That stove looks awesome, and for $14! I'm def getting this for my son's bday (also in May!) and I know he'll go nuts for it. Thanks for the link!
And speaking of toys for toddlers: I recently bought a baby doll for my son (3.5 years old) and I really think he'll love it. The doll is a little baby boy, just like the little baby boy we're expecting. I ordered it over the weekend, it hasn't yet arrived; he'll have it in a couple of days (a surprise), and I know he'll enjoy taking care of it and playing with it. I'm mentioning this only because I take issue with gender norms and labels for anyone, but esp really little kids! He has sometimes played with dolls (when we've had the opportunity at play groups) and he's been mimicking baby-care with his stuffed animals a little bit already, so I figured this was a logical next step. (And I know every toy isn't a huge hit, so I'm not gonna stress if he doesn't love it.)
If any moms of boys who have dollies want to chime in, I'd like to hear about it. How'd it go? Did you have to deal with any jerky comments from f/f? Did he/they enjoy playing with them, or not so much? Thanks, guys!
@chocolatelemons I'm the same weight as my first 8 week appointment and they aren't happy with me. Part of the problem was I started with pregnant weight from my first I was 147 and I usually walk around at 130. We've told them this a bunch but apparently they keep forgetting. I'm just hoping to get back to 160 by end like I did with my son.
@sweaterboots I'm sorry to hear that the rain caused so many issues. We live on the bottom floor of our apartment building and apparently there was a leak in the roof that led to our wall heater. There was a nice puddle of water under that every time it rained. Hopefully things get resolved soon and smoothly.
I'm doing my last bit of work travels this week, so I will be absent during the day. The only good thing about traveling this year is hotel rooms to myself!
@SKZW, I love that you bought your son a doll! My BFF's 2 year old was trying to baby some of his toys, so she bought him a little plush farmer doll. I've always thought it was super strange that girls are taught how to nurture and boys aren't. I was surprised to learn that DH has never changed a diaper, but most (maybe all?) women I know have because it's just something women are encouraged to learn.
Plus, kids should be able to play however they want to play.

@starphish18 I've had the shortness of breath thing going on with this pregnancy far more than my other two. I actually thought I had bronchitis or pneumonia last week, but my lungs were fine. Baby girl is just wedged up there.

I've always been the opposite of normal pregnancy weight gain and gain the most in my third trimester rather than the beginning. I'm up 13lbs as of 27wks but I can already tell that I've gotten "larger" since then (I just don't weigh myself at home). You still have a good 10ish wks to go. If your doctor is concerned they will tell you, but don't be afraid to ask them about it!

I really hate my inlaws and I want to scream about it, but everybody is sleeping. Apparently they are planning on coming to DH's change of command (basically a job promotion) but they really won't come, because they are finacially irresponsible. Then DH will be all sad and I am just not wanting to deal with all that. I just hate them so much. Like a rage inside of me. Ugh. I obviously have anger issues.
