It goes pretty well, actually. DH and I made some big decisions this weekend, and will hopefully be buying a house before this little one joins us! This means much of my work day will be spent looking at houses/mortgage info online (and on TB, obviously). Not looking forward to the moving process, but sooooo excited by the prospect of getting out of our rental (and away from our evil neighbor)!
Also, baby has been moving around like crazy! He is definitely getting stronger and I love it.
Last but not least, *TMI* I had the best poo this morning in recent memory. So I'm feeling pretty darn good right now.
How are things for you guys?
Fur daughter: 02/2011 Human sons: 11/2015 & 05/2017 *formerly kayemjay*
@WombThereItIs that sucks! The doctor who is supposed to see me for my A/S on Tuesday is on call so I'm worried mine will get cancelled as well. Also laughing at the reality of STMing.
@kayemjay2 well it sounds like you're having a great morning!
I went to work for the first time since my diagnosis this morning. I told my boss and had him tell our central leadership team and our leadership teams at both campuses. I also asked him to PLEASE let everyone know I can't handle pity and sympathy. I know people mean well, but the "I'm so sorry"s and the "how are you"s just make me cry and then I can't stop. I've seen about 10 people who know this morning and all have been upbeat and normal! I am so relieved people are treating me normally and I'm not (yet) a blubbery mess at work.
Oh it's not my family it's my doc's @MoshiMoshi7 I do feel badly though since he was my doc last time and he's a really nice guy. I have no problem getting bumped to someone else else or delaying stuff for this.
This is a really random question so I figured it works in this thread --
Do you ever feel like the fruit/object size comparisons for the fetus are totally bizarre and wrong? I never know, for a round object such as a grapefruit, whether we're supposed to be imagining the fetus stretched out and we're comparing it to diameter of the fruit, or whether we're supposed to think of the fetus curled up more. My guess is that it's completely inconsistent. I say only use objects such as bananas that are already long, or if it is a rounder object, it should be compared to a fetus that is somewhat curled up, since that's how they're positioned in there anyway.
Has anyone else ever contemplated this or am I the only one with too much time on my hands (i.e. procrastinating my real work?)
DH is home today, I didn't sleep very good last night so it's nice to lay around and be lazy while he takes care of all DDs needs we plan to go to target today to stock up on baby diapers and wipes and also plan to go on a walk later since the weather is nice!
@kat81 yeah, the fruit comparisons are really weird. And it seems like some weeks it gets smaller than the week before!
@WombThereItIs hopefully you'll be able to reschedule soon- I know one time my dr had a family emergency and the appointment was bumped back a couple of weeks, so he just counted that for both the appointments it was between!
It is so cold here this week!! I feel like a lazy slacker because I haven't taken the kids outside, or gone for a walk or run for about a week. I need to brave the cold soon, or the kids and I will go stir crazy! Although, I'm feeling accomplished today because we got a couple of new shelves from target this weekend, and I totally organized two rooms! (From toys just going in a spot on the floor to actually having a place where they go and the room looks neat! And older daughter has already figured it out and is putting her own toys back away! Winning!!)
Andplusalso totally random, but can we talk about how much I love Meryl Streep?!
@kat81 im right there with you. The banana is real strange so was endive.... cucumber was one last pregnancy just odd I like the baby sizer ones but again is it weight is it length or both?
@kat81 I'm pretty sure the fruit comparisons are supposed to be based on length only, but I could be wrong.
This little girl has been kicking so hard. She makes me jump several times a day, it's wild. I haven't been able to get hubbs to feel her yet. Everytime he tries, she stops moving. My coworker thinks that means he'll be the soother.
@MoshiMoshi7 - SPD is so painful! I hope pt really helps!
@kat81 - I agree on the fruit thing! I have the Ovia app and it gives you several choices for baby's size each week. I go by the one that makes most sense to put on the ticker change thread because some make absolutely no sense size wise.
@WombThereItIs - I love prenatal appointments too much. No way could I pass up on one.

@RainyDays86 I'm glad things are going well at work! @kat81 Totally agree. Before me, we had a friend who shared the fruit comparison with us each week (we would try to guess and almost undoubtedly fail to guess the accurate fruit) and we would laugh about how inconsistent it seemed. Maybe this is SO wrong of me, but it seems that whenever I learn about the "fruit" my baby is that week, I want to eat that fruit more. Not in a cannibalistic way, just like, a bonding with the baby way. Creepy?
I cannot get a good night's sleep. Headaches are back, my emotions are a mess, and I'm getting tired physically, mentally, emotionally. My libido wants to come back but physically I feel terrible and gross and a disaster. I'm going to go google "pregnant sleep positions" for hours now.
umm baby is the size of an endive today...wth? lol the whole fruit/veggie thing is weird to me too!
My random: haven't tried on my work pants for awhile since we were on break...went to put them on today because it's actually chilly in FL today (43 this morning!), and the don't fit...none of them! Bump is really there now! And I woke up and its like my boobs (already dd) are suddenly even fuller! I think I might actually have to go get some new ones, that or try the extender thing I have...maybe that will work...
Happy Monday!

Feeling miserable today. Dealing with a UTI and vaginal infection. Ugh! Bright side, I finally felt a kick/punch last night. She startled me awake with a 1-2 punch.
The banana comparison really threw me off. Is it the weight or the length we're supposed to be comparing?
I constantly wonder that as well! They're supposed to be coconuts today, but like y'all I'm wondering if that means they are curled up or just as long? Idk, but I like to imagine they are just as chubby as a coconut too. I LOVE big babies and want these two to be as healthy as can be
Random- I just debated whether to stay in PJ's or not and decided to put something nicer on than I usually do just around the house. I thought it would be good since I need to take a hdbd picture since I normally look like a slob in them, but then after doing my makeup and getting dressed I realized it's only monday. So, just know, I got dressed for y'all today haha
I know this topic already had its own thread but today I realized I turn 30 in 30 days so it's getting real around here DH is planning a trip to Vegas - just a couple nights but looking forward to the time together before LO arrives and it'll be my first night(s) away from my 2.5yr old ever! I'm glad it's something to look forward to cuz otherwise I've just entered a pretty blah countdown...
I watched this video again today and now that my DS is a little bit older the video is so funny to me. Literally every single word she says is true. So funny.
Yea, I use several apps for my baby size and they all seem so inconsistent!
My random is yesterday and today I am just so lightheaded! I've been eating and drinking water. Yesterday I thought I was just in the hot shower too long (showered the dog, then did my 5 day hair wash, shaved my legs). I had to cut my final rinse short and stumble straight to the bed to lie down. Well, just a bit ago at work I got up to go to a meeting and had to pop into a conference room on the way there to sit down because I was so light headed.
@BabyMC517 - I know you meant bras, but it sounded like you might have to go get some new BOOBS! My best friend is pregnant too and recently got measured at VS. She is probably a B normally and measured between a D and DD! Pregnancy is crazy, but at least it gives you an excuse to shop!
Ugh, good news is the baby is kicking around and making me smile. Bad news I am still in a blah mood and everyone at work seems to be stupid and I just want to punch them all in the face. 4 more hours and I can go home.....
@nda_roxybabe , I've been getting bouts of lightheadedness, too! It's weird and I don't remember it happening with my son. I'm planning to mention it during my appointment tomorrow, but I'm not too concerned. It's just annoying.
@kayemjay2, congrats on the house buying decision! I hope you guys find something you love!
@RainyDays86 , I'm glad your coworkers are being respectful of your wishes. Hopefully work is a bit of a welcomed distraction for you!
@kat81 , I, too, am annoyed by the fruit comparisons. They just don't make sense to me.
My week is off to a weird start. We had a big snowstorm here (Boston) as did much of the country, and one of my husbands' co-workers was killed in a freak accident. She was walking and a car spun out of control and killed her. She was only 22 and it's just such a sad and tragic story on it's own, but it's also just causing a lot of upheaval in the start of the week because she was on DH's team and so now he's scrambling to re-arrange all of his work and he's also dealing with the grief. It's just a weird Monday. I hope it gets better from here.
@emilyalso haha oops! That's what I get for not reading my post before I hit submit! I really hope I don't jump too much more! Not sure I could handle it haha oh the joys of pregnancy!
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." ~Charlie Chaplin
@lrwardrop Love that video. How weird that I find it inspiring. I'm so excited for all of that to be my reality. FTM, but ready for it.
@Kipperoo I'm so sorry to hear about that tragic story! Poor DH juggling work stress and grief.
@nda_roxybabe Maybe you need to drink more water? Do you have a way of checking your BP? It's probably all fine and just another annoying pregnancy symptom, but sounds severe enough to mention to your OB. Are you planning to?
@nda_roxybabe - I started experiencing the lightheadedness at 19w, it was worse after showers. Doc told me it was low blood pressure due to the kid's position. I got a blood pressure meter and sure enough every time I felt lightheaded my blood pressure had dipped really low. Now that the baby has changed positions it's not as bad.
You know, I do typically have a lower blood pressure, I wonder if it's dipping a little too low. I don't have a way to check, but I have an appointment Friday and plan to mention it to her.
@LilMissCrafty What position was baby in that was causing it? Baby has moved positions drastically in the past week, so now I am curious.
@nda_roxybabe if it is your blood pressure you just need to drink more fluids. I think blood pressures typically lower during pregnancy, especially in the 2nd trimester. Mine usually runs low 100's/70's. I remember last time having readings in the 90's/70's and they weren't too concerned since it was close to my baseline.
I feel short of breath all the time. I remember feeling this last time in the 3rd tri but not this early.
nda_roxybabe - That was the wording my doctor used. I think it's more to due with your uterus expanding and putting pressure on your arteries. I would definitely bring it up at your appointment. (Mine didn't seem too concerned about it.)
@lrwardrop I also had some of the same feeling around the 21ish week. Mine actually didn't stick around for more than a week. I know this sounds silly, but I read that you can have an "increased sense of the urge to breath" during mid pregnancy that can make you feel short of breath and lightheaded. So if your BP is normal and you don't have anything else going on, it could be that.
@Kipperoo I'm sorry for your husband's loss and that he now has to scramble to get work covered while dealing with the grief.
We we finally got some rain in So Cal! And while I love it, it kept me up a good portion of the night. I guess I should be grateful that DD didn't wake up with the thunder and lightning.
Thanks, @Jen_Shoes and @bacorrea . It's such a sad thing...it's not like I knew her that well, but I just feel so bad for her family and the whole situation has cast a little cloud over our house.
And, @bacorrea , that cost calculator looks pretty spot on to me. Childcare for me is significantly higher with all day daycare at like $19k/year per kid, so I'm hoping it will be a slight savings when the kiddos are in school. Although I will then be paying for before and after school care...so...maybe not, haha...
Re: Randoms and Questions 01.09 the - 01.15
I asked if I could just skip the 20w appt all together and come in for the next one at 24w. Second time mom giving 0 fucks over here.

@kayemjay2 well it sounds like you're having a great morning!
@MoshiMoshi7 FX physical therapy helps!
