For any of you with anxiety over nurseries not yet being done/in progress, I share with you the awesome status of our nursery: miter saw, one wall doesn't have sheetrock, there's left over plumbing that needs to be removed since there used to be a hot tub in the room (yep - interior hot tub right off the dining room), there is no flooring other than the subfloor, and it's currently a lumber storage area for all our other ongoing projects.
Have no fear, it'll get done. It's not like they sleep there for the first month anyway, right??
@concreteangell I watched a lot of Dexter while on maternity leave with DD. When she bites/hits/screams I tease that I watched too much Dexter while she was a baby.
Dexter and SOA were our shows of choice with DD2. No wonder she is a nut case. Maybe I'll binge Bob Ross with this one.

Just catching up on this thread this morning! I give all of you props for watching The Walking Dead. I watched the first few seasons with my husband but I was having the most grusome nightmares from it so I had to stop. I can't even imagine what they would be like now paired with my insanely vivid pregnancy dreams!
Also for the nursery, I've started to get the itch to get it started. I told my husband I want the big stuff done by the end of the year, knowing his work schedule plus I won't feel as good come January/February. Hoping to at least start clearing the room out and painting in October!
For those with nursery anxiety...behold our future nursery.... Eeeek. Oh, and that's all my stuff except for the antique chair on the right-hand wall, so i can't even blame DH. Trying to get this cleared out by Halloween.
@Gretchypoo - totally agree. Not required, but if it is cold outside you may want some tights. I opt for knitted ones on the rare occasion I do wear tights, or plain colored leggings.
I'm LOLing at everyone with nursery anxiety cause in Judaism it's bad luck to start the nursery until the baby is born. So, I won't be doing anything until then. We painted, but that's it. And we'll probably buy some stuff, but it will sit in their, box unopened not set up (with the door closed) until we get home from the hospital.
Which BTW is exactly what happened with my Nephew's crib and we all built it with my nephew in the next room.
Quick question: no one wears panty hose anymore, right? I'm going to Hubs' grandpa's funeral today and I don't need panty hose-- right?
Grandpa was a 98 y old veteran and it is a graveside service if that matters...
I see a lot of people who don't wear hose to a funeral, and a bunch of ladies here don't think it's important, but I'm on the other end. I do tend to take the old people's point of view on this subject. I feel like funerals are a time to pull them out. I recently wore this to a funeral... I bought this for a Christmas party last year and sent the pic to my mil for hose color suggestion. To the funeral I had on the black panty hose, and a black shrug.
Edit: also a thought. Some people down dress a bit more, so I guess the panty hose, is really a matter on what your wearing.
@MommaBean no, I wear the ones that go clear up... in that picture I had to squeeze the other legs between my thighs to keep them from falling down lol I just don't have a normal pic of that outfit. (Well I have a couple pics from the party, but didn't feel like cropping out husband) That was only taken to get an opinion on the black or nude ones lol
I hate thigh highs (unless in the bedroom ) they squeeze in all the wrong places and I constantly pull them up.
I had a fun weekend other than not sleeping well. We spent the weekend at my IL's house and Saturday was spent grocery shopping and making freezer meals with my 2 SIL's. The dogs had fun running around the big backyard. And Sunday we went to our old church to see everybody and yes, there was much belly rubbing. I really didn't want this weekend to end
I vote no hose but I don't think you can go wrong either way.
I found my nursery inspiration.. but instead of the light blue color I will do mint. And as far as the FTM baby shopping I would stick to basics until you know what works/doesn't work for your kiddo. And it USED!!! There's a list out there of stuff to get used vs recommended new.
@Gretchypoo since he's a veteran, they will most likely be doing a service that includes a rifle party as well as having the flag delivered to a family member by another veteran. Not sure if that has any impact on your decision either.
Y'all, I had the most productive weekend ever. First off, this nursery talk is very timely, because we painted the nursery this weekend. Or, to be more accurate, "we" painted the nursery this weekend. I did the first coat of trim around the floors, and then spent the rest of the day with heat on my SI joint, while my husband did the rest...
We found this great paint, number 2 on this swatch, that is very light and bright in the morning light, and turns into a much richer blue when the sun isn't on it directly. It looks a little grey on the swatch, but it's a very delicate blue. It goes very nicely with our "sky" theme...
and then yesterday I went to our local baby expo, just to see what I could see. And a local baby boutique had an expo special on, with 20% off the Mesa car seat that clicks right in to the stroller I craigslisted! They didn't advertise it, so it was just a fluke that I happened to wander past their booth. It ended up being the same price as most other carseats! My travel system is complete, I got my Vista/Mesa combo, and I didn't break the bank!
So many things.. 1. We basically hate watch TWD. I only like 3-4 characters left and hope everyone else dies brutally to shut them up. 2. @concreteangell we watched stranger things with my preschooler and he tells people he's going to take them away from his family. Moty 3. I'm more worried about my nursery because we are also remodeling a bathroom, making a Halloween costume, having a third birthday party, doing holidays at our house and working full time. And going away for a weekend in 2.5 weeks. All of the things. 4. My kid stayed in bed all night. It's a festivus miracle. 5. I have a billion none work things to do today while pretending to work. 6. My left boob looks noticeably larger than my right today.
Ugh. On the topic of paints looking grey, but being a different color. I totally f-d up our nursery paint. I was stupid and over confident and thought "I don't need to buy the paint sample to put on the wall, I know this paint is the right color". Wrong. What I thought was a light grey, is light grey on the little sample card, and looks grey on the top of the paint can....is totally purple. It's one of those things where in some lights it looks grey, but in tohers it looks purple, and the light in our nursery is making it look purple. Going to buy some new bulbs and try "white light" instead of the yellow light we currently have to see if that helps. Ugh. I want to kick myself.
@Gretchypoo I'll always vote yes for pantyhose. I think they look very classy and elegant. But I'm also pretty old fashioned. I wore black pantyhose to a June wedding in the dead center of Florida once. And I'll always wear them to a funeral. But that's just me, I like the way they look. But lots of people don't and that's okay too.

I did that with DD! I wanted light grey, and it ended up looking blue on the walls and I had to paint it all over again such a bummer!
We haven't done anything with our "nursery" yet, but our 3rd bedroom is on the main level and the other 2 are upstairs. We've decided, since our master is huge, to give baby the nook in our room for the time being, and hope to move before we need more space. I do feel like it's a good chance to redo our room though. I want new bedding that will at least coordinate with baby bedding. Our room is gray already, so I'm thinking navy, white, and coral?
I wear them in the winter. But, I will only wear black opaque. And only with a dress or something, not under pants. 50 degrees is my yes or no marker! I generally avoid dresses in the winter, so I've done this like 4 times in the past 10 years!
I actually didn't wear pantyhose to a wedding this year though! my sister was so proud she almost wiped tears of joy away as she hasn't worn pantyhose a day in her life. Since being ginger also means having disgustingly pale legs, that is also a huge reason I wear pantyhose. But I found a spray tan that didn't look orange and gross against my pale self so it turned out okay. Otherwise I so would've worn pantyhose with that dress. I really wanted to even with the fake tan. Also notice how I forgot to spray tan the sides of my feet so they're sporting my usual pasty white glory.
Edit: sorry if the photo is enormous, I cropped my sister out so now I look 30 feet tall. I'm only 5'4" though...
@PerraSucia I noticed yesterday that my left boob is noticeable larger than my right and they used to be equal. Hope they equal themselves out when they finish growing.
In other boob news Victoria Secret now has some bra styles in DDD. I hate shopping so I used a measuring tape and that says my new size is 32DDD and VS had them on sale for $30 and free shipping so I ordered one and am hoping it fits, if not I'll just have to take it back to the store and actually go somewhere where they will help me find my correct size.

I don't wear panty hose everytime I put on a dress, but certain times require them in my opinion. Fancy company parties, funerals, cold weather, and anytime the old people will outnumber the young people. lol

Just out of curiosity to the bolded- why?
Because granny over there is gonna ask where the rest of her outfit is.
Oh, cause my mom used to argue with me everytime I wore a dress without hose. One time we were at an event (not sure where exactly anymore) but she started on me about how tacky I looked and before I knew it, there was a mob of little old ladies ganging up telling me my mom was right. If you listen to old people talk about style, they are very picky, and very passionate about it lol @BumpasaurusRex (by the time I posted, it was several comments down)
I often like something under a dress (usually cute tights, sometimes hose) because it flattens out my belly! (Pre-preg, obviously). Legs are bare when the weather is decent, though.
