@mizzkbrat We are kind of scrambling to make sure we have someone to work for me. I work for a Town Recreation Department with about 4 other full time employees and a hand full of part timers. One of the other full time people was already planning to cover my trips for the seniors and special events. Mainly we need someone to cover the facility where the senior programs occur.
The kicker is that I am the only full time person in my building and none of the others really know how it runs. My assistant is part time and my other part timer is a gym supervisor.
So right now we are training one of the other part time assistants from the main office to cover for the time being until we hear or know more. She says she is willing to cover as needed but I hope she understands that it could be a longer period of time than she is signing up for.
My assistant has been very apologetic and every time she texts me she leaves me with the impression that she has all intentions of returning to work but you know how things can happen.
Luckily, I have FMLA and am using my sick and vacation time for maternity leave so it's not like they can say or do anything about it. At this point I just kind of feel like it is somehting they will have to deal with. My boss already told me that I'm the first employee he has ever had need maternity (largely male field and my female coworker is in her 50's and does not have children) and he has been doing this for 20+ years!
On a lighter note (from me anyways), poor DH hasn't gotten any in close to two months because it just is so uncomfortable and it hurts. And now, I'm like oh we should do it at least a few times before the baby comes because then I won't be allowed to. But part of me is scared for it to induce labor and I need her to stay in as long as possible for work! Totally irrational. Lol
@ibabyloveb87 I would have checked myself but I can't reach, lol. I can't remember who mentioned earlier that they checked, but that's what made me curious. I had strict rules - scrub your hands and don't touch anything but me, and no trying to measure dilation or anything. It was really no different than just having sex and I didn't feel it when she touched my cervix, unlike when the doc does it.
@sjo_thetwins The doctor is going to check next week anyway so I may just pass on this on my own- I'm not sure I could really reach either and not sure I wanna freak DH out any more than he already is

For those who are stressing about taking off 12 weeks of unpaid leave, just a friendly heads up that you may want to look into your short term disability coverage with your medical insurance or job. Short term disability will cover 60% of your pay (better than nothing!), and will pay you for 6 weeks if you have a vaginal birth, and 8 weeks if you have a c section.
No, that's not true for everyone. Terms and conditions of STD vary wildly, unfortunately. And you generally can't add disability coverage when you're already pregnant. So if you haven't looked into it by now, you're out of luck.
However, if you already own supplemental insurance (such as Aflac or another carrier) which includes a hospitalization policy, you should contact your provider about adding your baby. My carrier will allow me to add baby within 30 days of birth, and I'll be able to make a separate claim on his hospital stay, giving me a little extra money to cover my maternity expenses. Again, check with your own provider.
Luckily my job allows us to use our STD as our maternity leave, so I get 12 weeks full pay. And I pay into LTD just in case it's needed, but it's only 75% pay. Which is still good.
Married 11-11-11 TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year. BFP 02-15-16 with our first IT'S A BOY!!!
My policy is better than most, I can't complain about that considering so many women in this country get nothing (which makes me sick) but actually filing the paper work to make sure you get paid is a quite the circus. It's taken up most of my day today.

This- are offered STD but if you are not signed up and you have a preexisting condition- like pregnancy, the policy will not over any pregnancy related leave.
I was too late signing up and my bedrest is not covered because it's due to the pregnancy. The rep actually told me to not waste my money and to sign up when I return to work.
Hallelujah!!! We found a temp to cover me! She starts tomorrow. Hurrah!!!!
Never had someone cover my position ever, so now I'm feeling emotions of "she better be good, but not that good." and "I hope she's nice, but I hope not nicer than me!" lol
anyone wanna tell @daisy19782011 to read the freaking rules??? "we" do have cute babies. don't lump yourself into the bmb if you can't even read the rules.
@AllyTheKid me too! I was all BABY!!! But no it was to be a snowflake! But a baby did just come into the doctor's office
So got my DTAP and he said normally they recommend it before 36 weeks (thanks OB for NOT mentioning it and me only learning about it from you lovely ladies), but still gave it to me. No flu shot available yet, so couldn't get that. And it looks like my sinus shit is just a lingering viral
I've been quiet here so I was like "3 new babies?! Whaaaat?!" And it was one and the SS. I was so ragey. Lol
And major lol to the DHs who are freaked out by being so close to baby. My DH is like "Sperm helps start labor, let's go!!" So he's been getting some lately, although I'm the bigger horn dog so he probably wouldn't care if he wasn't. I'm kind of meh about it.... which is saying something cause I've never not been in the mood in the 5 years we've been together.
I was given a surprise flu shot at my appointment today, I think it sucks worse than my DTAP did =/ Only dilated to 2cm, after all the fuss this kid has been making, I was expecting more. I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping for a magical "Oh, well we can go ahead and get this ball rollin' today!" Nope. Foiled.
@ibabyloveb87 Good thing they stuck me in ol' lefty, because I'm wicked tender now that it's been a few hours! I hope I don't get sick this time, I always get a damn fever and flu symptoms for a day or two after I get the shot. Necessary evil I suppose.
You guys are lucky my doctor said we won't be getting the flu shot here until mid October, and I plan to have my baby by then if I have to reach in there and drag him out!
@AllyTheKid I feel like that will totally happen at my next appointment. I want to SAY that I think I'm at all zeros, but deep down I'm believing that I'm further along even though they will probably tell me I'm not.
@SpaceBurger Stay in your hopeful happy place. They may shit all over it at your next appointment, buy you can cross that bridge when you come to it. It helps to at least HOPE an end is in sight!
I had a rare bout of feeling motivated today, so I went to the gym after work. For the first time in weeks. And then immediately drove to Taco Bell & had most of my nachos devoured by the time I left the parking lot.
My hubby is feeling frisky tonight even though we've been snarking at each other on and off all night. My twat is hurting but he is still trying to make a move. I'm contemplating telling him if he sticks a finger up there he might be able to feel the head so his dink can be smacking our son upside the head, just so he will leave me alone. But with my luck that will backfire and i'll never get sex again
@AllyTheKid I had a flu shot today too. It didn't hurt at the time but now I feel like I got punched in the arm. My blood draw for labs was the opposite - I feel like she stabbed through to bone! Now I don't feel a thing there though. I have to try and work a baby out of me in a few weeks, you'd think that would be bad enough!
lol @LauraPCOS. I can totally see that backfiring. I'm pretty sure if I said something to DH we'd be done until post delivery. It is still tempting...
I seriously complained for a week when I had the TDAP, it ached so badly for so long. Thankfully we got the flu shot on Tuesday and it only ached for a day. I don't know if it's the skill of the person or luck, but it really seems to vary!
I thought I was grouchy while pregnant, now I just can't even. I'm thinking this is my new fave snark gif...be warned, she looks cute but she don't play that!
I was dreading having to catch up on the 112 posts I missed today but, as always, y'all are wonderful. I hope all my love tits make up for my lack of posting!
I see a lot of you are getting a flu shot. Is this something you get annually or are just getting because you're having a baby? I have never gotten one before and wasn't planning on it, but am open to hear why I should. I just heard that it often doesn't do any good since 'they' are just guessing which strain is going to go around that year.
BTDT toddler Moms: How do I keep DS from coming in my room at night now that he has a big boy bed?! He moved into his new bed one week ago tonight. The last two mornings he's come in our room in the morning (6:30 or 7), which is fine. We just get up (or, as was the case this morning, I was already up getting ready for work).
But, it's 1 a.m. and I just got him back to sleep in his room after being up the last hour while he threw a fit wanting to get in our bed. Full on possessed by the devil toddler freak out. He has never slept in our bed, and I'm not about to cave at nearly 3-yrs. old.
I have a feeling this this situation is going to get desperate very quickly. I miss the crib! I miss rest!

Oh boy! I had trouble with my oldest around that age. Is there a reason he can't be in his crib still? I had to move mine back into the crib for a few months cause she just wasn't ready. It didn't matter what I did or said she just would stay. I didn't feel right putting a lock on backwards on her door cause it felt too barbaric IMO and that was one of the things I remember reading as a option, but hey if the circumstances were different and she was able to sneak out of the house too I would do it. My second was not as difficult of a case. She was mostly good, but she was only 17 months old and was too small and couldn't open her door. So when she got out of bed I would tell her on the video monitor to go back to bed and most times it worked. She went through a thing a month ago where she was getting up and out of bed in the middle of the night and I just had to keep putting her back in over and over. No talking to her after the first time, and I watched like a hawk in the video monitor to make sure she was staying out and settling down. A few nights of that and she was fine. Every child is so different, if you had to take the crib for baby which is what I'm guessing happened, I would consider getting another cheap crib for him or the baby a play pen for awhile to buy yourself some time with your current crib. This close to a new sibling arriving the chances are less that even if he is used to his bed in the next week or two, when the baby is born he is likely to regress back.

No help here @f47, but I'm hoping you find a solution soon!
Btdt moms, I want to know what items I need for after delivery. Not talking so much specifically about pads and tucks and stuff (because I remember we had a thread about that). More like, what items of clothing should I have on hand? Do I really need nursing shirts? What about nursing bras? Will any old bra do?
What are must have items to make life easier with a newborn? Any tips on how to start feeling normal again? Will the first few weeks feel utterly miserable? Will I ever feel pretty again? Lol.
Do you recommend the belly bandit? Any other suggestions?
@annabenanna if my memory serves correctly your maybe having a c section? Some of my suggestions are geared towards a mom who has had c sections.
things that come to mind -a nice "nighttime" nursing bra, size is nice and flexible cause you won't know an actual size until your milk comes in and regulates. Once that happens go bra shopping, if you plan to BF for awhile you'll love having some nice bras, you'll get good use from them. - a couple of nursing tanks, these are nice to wear in the hospital and also I liked layering with them so it was easier to stay covered up in public while breastfeeding without a cover. - one or two nice flattering nursing tops are super nice to have in the hospital for pictures and when you're going somewhere and need to feed on the go it's just easier to get the old boob out. - some comfy sweat pants, I always treat myself to a nice pair of lulu lemons to wear after baby arrives. I also love leggings or pj pants if I am home. Anything that won't make your incision angry. - new panties. This may be my funny little quirk but I always liked having new underwear. But make sure they are as high waisted and a size big to allow room for the swelling of the incision and big pads. (Not the case for everyone but even after my c sections I still bled a lot) -I didn't like my belly bandit, it was just annoying, but that will be personal preference. - regardless of forms of delivery don't be scared of stool softners, I was the first baby and the second baby I wasn't and what a difference.
After my c section I just felt weak and tired. Not so tired to the point I could stay awake just tired. Some of it I could easily chalk up to not sleeping well the night before too. I threw up in the OR, ask for the stuff if you start feeling sick cause I threw up everywhere and they weren't ready for it. I know the rule is no food after surgery, but my awesome nurse let me break it and once I was feeling descent I ate a muffin and had some juice, that helped my energy pick up. Also get your butt out of bed and move a bit. I didn't do this with my first c section, in fact I didn't get out of bed for a full 24 hours and holy crap it was so much worse. I was up the afternoon after I had my c section, and felt 100 times better.
