Re: Weekly Randoms 9/19

  • I want a mani/pedi, I want to get my eyebrows done, I want a wax, I want to color my hair, but wouldn't you fucking know I am damn broke because every spare penny I have is going into savings for maternity leave. *bitter as fuck and jealous right now*  :s
This is so me, so move over I'm joining your jealousy boat!!

  • I am on 4 more weeks of reduced pay- I can work just enough house from home to pay for daycare.... and I don't want to put more stuff on my credit card. I'd love to get a pedicure and to get a few more things for baby's nursery and a few nursing bras/ things to wear PP but nope it will have to wait. Ugh and my nursery isn't even close to being done.
  • If someone is looking for a cheaper massage, I've been getting the $20 reflexology massages from the Asian massage place. They are wonderful! You're in a room full of people, but whatevs. I was so relaxed at the last one, I dozed off!
  • @JennJenn81713 I mainly just have pain in my hands, which sort of resonates into my wrists when I'm work at the computer...but it hasn't reached my forearms or elbows yet. I so hope it doesn't progress into that, I will literally be rendered useless! Right now it's just this incredible tightness in my hands, which at the same time makes them go almost completely numb...and it's 24/7, and at its worst at night. I pretty much dread going to bed because the dead hands wakes me up constantly. I find icing them helps temporarily, but it's short lived!
  • @sportiegrl1213 OMG, my husband had almost the same freakout last month! Long story short, he wanted to stay at a party (that we'd been at allll day in the thousand degree heat) and I was so ready to go. He ended up telling me to drive myself home cuz he was going to stay. I was hurt and embarrassed! All of his family was there and saw him just peace out on me. Acted like such a child, tried to get angry with me the next day...so I said my piece and left just like you. And then also got the longest text apologizing, saying I was right and that he just feels like all the fun is over and he's trying to squeeze out every last bit. We talked about it too, and I tried to stress that it's not over, it will just be different! And we need to work together to make it all work! But why am I reassuring him when I'm barely holding it together?! I'm worried about all the same things...plus I'm struggling through pregnancy annnd I also have to squeeze this kiddo out! Suck it up, dude. P.s. I have gotten lots of favors, bathroom cleaning, vacuuming, dinners and grocery shopping out of it, so even if it's guilt-related, I'll take it. ;)
  • Got my pedicure yesterday (at a salon school- look into those, ladies- super cheap!), dyed my hair today (with a box of garnier), I'm going to forego highlights for now as I really like how it turned out without them! And I'm going to get a gel mani next week, but only because my mom got me a gift card for my birthday! I spruced up my eyebrows with my tweezers -it had been WAY long since my eyebrows had any attention at all. My bag is pretty much packed except for the last minute stuff that I need to toss in it.  But I'm totally good with her hanging on for another two weeks! :):)

  • @LMNOBaby ugh. Yes, me too, all of that. I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and praying this baby comes early so I can get past the CT. I'm also 24/7 and worse at night...seriously thinking this will be my only pregnancy.
  • I'm nervous- I have a hair appointment on Friday with a new girl. I love mine, but she's so flaky and hard to get up with. I've been trying for 3 weeks, and I just can't wait anymore. Hoping to find some spare $ for a pedicure in our end of month paycheck too!

I decided to postpone the hair appointment until the day before we do newborn photos.
I'm fortunate to have my insurance cover massage, and I have one scheduled next week, along with a pedi- if I make it that far *fingers crossed.*
I think for food I will probably be utilizing one (or both) of two food prep services locally...similar to Plated or Blue Apron but local.
The only thing I feel like I don't have covered is house cleaning...I'd like to get it done every other week for the first 6-8 weeks. Especially with what will (likely) be the ongoing saga of remodeling, lord knows there will be dust and sh*t everywhere which will make me insane but I will be too tired/busy to do anything about it. No groupons for it either, boo.
  • Lol before my stupid pre-e whirlwind I definitely intended to get my hair, nails, wax done during the week I was planning to have off work before my induction...I just had time for a super quick shave in the shower while DH was on his way home to go with me to the hospital, but we all survived! I definitely could use a massage now..maybe if/when I can get over my separation anxiety..
  • Lol @Schell2013- this is why I will go nowhere near my cervix with my fingers. I don't want to freak myself out. Plus I want to still enjoy sex without anxiety before I start my upcoming 6 week dry spell.

@LMNOBaby so happy I'm not alone on the DH front. These babies are a coming whether their fathers are ready or not, so they need to suck it up. LOL

Love the extra treatment I'm getting too. Don't care if its out of guilt either. I've done enough and can't do much more, so it's time for him to step it up!

  • Ugh I would so love to get a mani/pedi right now!  Add me to the can't afford it list.  I'm with you all on feeling bitter about my unpaid 12 week FMLA leave.  I've also been saving up my PTO so that a month or so is paid.  Sometimes I'm grateful for it, but then I get mad that I would feel grateful for that when most other countries get way longer paid leave!

Anyways, yesterday I needed to clip my toenails and had the idea that I would polish them.  Hah!! I could barely reach them all to clip them, much less attempt to polish them.  No idea what I was thinking lol.  Maybe if I don't go into labor before my due date when my parents come into town I can get my mom to treat me to a mani/pedi!

Color me impressed that anyone is up for sex right now. Well done, ladies.
My hubby got pitty sex the other night and lemme just say it is one of the very few times I'm thankful he lasts roughly as long as a virgin teenager!

  • I'm getting my hair cut on Monday and need to get my eyebrows threaded before or after that. I would really like to get a pedicure but I just don't have time. With my assistant being out indefinitely I have even more work that I wasn't going to have to do before to get it ready for someone else to cover my maternity leave in case she isn't back by the time the baby comes (which I don't think she will be).

  • I'm starting to think maybe I should just touch up my color and wait for a cut until after the baby arrives so I don't make any irrational decisions... with these damn hot flashes, I'm just about willing to chop off two years of dedication to growing out my hair.
  • I haven't had my hair cut in a year and a half so I figured I'd go get it fixed up before I have an infant (and in case I consider pulling out a hair dryer before Christmas the angles will look good in pictures). But I am the most boring hair person ever. I'm still stuck on Jennifer Anniston in the 90s. Which I have been since the 90s. But the fact that I only have to wash it every 3 days and brush it like twice a week is going to be AWESOME when I hit full zombie mode ;)

  • @books&icecream I'm the same with you with my hair.  I like the slight layers and my styling consist of either brushing it or throwing it in a ponytail.  I own a hairdryer but never use it.

  • @LauraPCOS I don't even own a hair dryer right now (lent it to my sister who accidentally took it to Dubai). However my HUSBAND dries his hair every morning. With a teeny tiny little hair dryer. Hehehe.

  • For those who are stressing about taking off 12 weeks of unpaid leave, just a friendly heads up that you may want to look into your short term disability coverage with your medical insurance or job. Short term disability will cover 60% of your pay (better than nothing!), and will pay you for 6 weeks if you have a vaginal birth, and 8 weeks if you have a c section.

My H is the one turning down sex. He's weirded out with the baby "right there" and insists he's going to "poke him in the forehead" no matter how many times I remind him that it isn't going to happen. I've been in the mood several times but honestly, I'm so uncomfortable that sex would probably suck anyway.
This is exactly my situation. It sucks. A week ago DH was finally ready to go, and of course just when DH was looking at me, baby decided to do a whole acrobatic routine that very obviously moved my tummy a bunch, so that promptly put an end to any sex that was about to happen. Major boo. Just hoping I heal fast and we can get back to our normal routine soon enough. I am also so uncomfortable, so I'm just trying to convince myself it would probably sucks anyway too.

  • @emmaaa - how is your assistant's husband? I may have missed an update.

@Pupatella - that's not true for everyone. If an employer is large enough to provide STD, a lot of places require buy-in well in advance. My employer is Fortune 50, I get the STD at 66.66% salary but only for 6 weeks, regardless of vaginal or c-section. The only way I would get more time is if hospitalized for birth-related complications. The rest of the time I'm taking is unpaid FMLA, which I just found out on Monday. I thought STD covered all 12 weeks.

@MRSCORKER - I'm sitting on the same bench with you re sex. I have the higher libido anyway, but the last time was pretty uncomfortable for me and I guess DH could tell and it totally turned him off, so he hasn't been wanting to try again. At this point he's worried about hurting the baby. And he's not getting any pity BJs from me, because I can't be bothered...whoops...maybe after the baby.

  • @MorganL925 Unfortunately, there isn't much of an update. He is still being kept in an induced coma but is now having issues with his heart, liver and other organs which is obviously a concern and tends to happen when someone has been under that long. They are playing a waiting game right now. I know she said they were hoping to do a brain scan yesterday to see if they could get some more answers.

  • @MorganL925 I'm still not 100% sure. All I know is that he was in an accident. My mind went straight to car accident because I don't think his job had much potential for a serious injury, but I could be wrong.

  • FWIW - you can totally poke baby in the head during sex, lol. Not that it's going to actually hurt the baby because it's protected by the amniotic sac and your cervix. But let's just say, I was curious about how high/low my cervix was because it's been pretty high - but I can't reach it to check it myself, so I let SO feel for it (not in it, or trying to guess how dilated I am) and she very clearly poked the baby in the head. There's basically a piece of paper separating her from the outside world. So if you are as thinned out as I am, and if your DH is well endowed, he could totally poke baby in the head. LOL!
  • DH keeps saying that he's going to turn into a priest because we haven't had sex in a month... and I probably won't until after the baby/after recovery. The last couple times it was so uncomfortable/painful I just can't bear it.

  • I have been waiting to get my cerclage out so my hubby and I could have sex. We haven't had sex this whole pregnancy. I got it out on Monday and guess what? We are both sick now and in no mood for sex. He got a blowie the other day, but that's all that's probably going to happen before baby gets here. So I guess my dry spell will continue until after everything is all healed up.
