  • Besides the normal pain down there, I think I might be chaffing or something from wearing these pads. I'm not used to wearing pads so they already feel a bit uncomfortable but this morning it seems I've gotten a little tender/raw almost in the buttocks area. I've been wearing the overnight ones because I thought I'd be bleeding heavier longer, but the massive bleeding stopped around day 3...should I switch to regular pads now?? Anyone else experiencing this??  I'm 7 days PP

@MrsEWilson I've had this before during my period I think from working out, I like the really thin always pads best, they're still absorbent and not bulky. The green super one isn't as long as the overnight and comes without wings which I like.

ETA: I think its kind of like diaper rash lol

  • @MrsEWilson - i definitely had some chaffing.  I tried a lite layer of lotion on my bottom (butt-cheeks, not near bleeding)
  • @skelly1990

I do have a boppy and that helps. Also at night time I nurse lying on my side so no wrist action there.

But I find myself carrying lots of baby gear (car seat, stroller, etc.) and that can aggravate it too. Apparently everything hurts it.

    @AliKay20
Let me know if doc suggests anything. I was thinking of getting a wrist splint thingy.

    @MrsEWilson
Yes! I had to switch to one without wings because I was chafing. Ouchies. I switched to Kotex without wings at 9days PP very soft, thin, and comfy. Now at 14days the bleeding has stopped but I'm still wearing the Kotex just in case.
  • No more Miss! I got carpal tunnel in both wrists during the 3rd trimester. Wrist splints definitely helped. I wore them during the day and at night. Good luck!

And my postpartum night chills/sweats have arrived. I woke up twice covered in sweat from shaking so violently from chills. Showering at night is now a complete waste.
The night sweats are so real here too. I go to bed freezing and wake up sweating. I can't wait for these to be done!

@AliKay20 I never weight myself before going to the bathroom. But I also wait until my hair is dry, I have absolutely no clothes on, and I've gotten every last drop of pee out  ;)
Same. But now I make sure to empty out my boobs too! Hahaha #itsthelittlethings
So true!! I definitely weighed myself this morning with very full boobs... I should probably subtract a pound...

  • @nomoremiss @bsckgb7 @huskymama725
I am definitely switch to some thin ones without wings today!!! This pain has taken my mind completely off my stitches, it sucks!!! I guess I'll have to use my own barrier cream until that heals too. Thanks ladies
  • @AliKay20

Definitely said to follow up with PCP just to rule things (like arthritis) out but from what it sounds & looks (she checked my hands for any swelling), she isn't too concerned about it. She said some women either get it towards the end of their pregnancy or right after. For now, she recommended I get those wrist braces to see if that will help. I'm getting them this week and will see if it indeed helps.
  • To check if all healed well down there, doc used a speculum much like a pap smear. While it wasn't as painful as a cervical check, it was rather uncomfortable. There was very light minimal bleeding right after.

Now my nana is a little irritated as I continue to queef. Lmao. Of course I forget to ask her about this but then again, would I want to...

She then asked me about contraceptives and I said it was too soon to talk about that. I mean, we are nowhere close to doing the deed (poor DH).
  • I feel like six weeks is plenty of time but then again that's coming from someone who had a super easy labor, delivery, and recovery. I haven't had pain down there since I was in L&D and once I was discharged the pain was gone and I stopped taking any medicine so I'm eager for the bleeding to stop and to be given the all clear!
  • Me too @BrunetteBabe722! Last baby I think we only waited 3 weeks or so, but this time I'm still bleeding a little at 4 weeks. So I'm just going to wait until my 6 week appt. I didn't have any stitches, so I'm sure everything is fine. But I'm in a new state of exhaustion with this being baby #3, so even when I feel like it, I'm not sure I'll have enough energy to do anything about it!
  • I had c sections so I think 6 weeks is plenty of time. Last time we did the deed around 5 weeks I believe.
  • I can't even think of getting near dh for some sexy time!  Lol
  • With DD it took the full 6 weeks to feel well enough down there and even then it wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but I had torn pretty badly with her.  This time around I didn't tear and I feel a ton better than I did with her at a week pp, so we shall see.

  • So...I went 5 days with no bleeding (4wks pp) & was super excited to have that issue done with! Woke us this morning and the bleeding is back - not bad but enough that I have to wear a panty liner. So frustrating!

  • I didn't after ds1... I stopped bleeding at 2 weeks pp and only had a couple stitches. And I felt great
  • @jacmkelley I'm going to miss pregnant sex so much and not having to worry about getting pregnant. I don't plan on waiting the full six weeks unless I'm still bleeding.
  • I don't miss pregnant sex because I pretty much had to force myself to get in the mood. The only thing I miss is not having to worry about getting pregnant! I've been planning on getting the IUD but I'm wimping out and think I'm just gonna go on the pill again. I had great skin when I was on the pill. This time around I know for a fact I don't wanna get pregnant so I will force DH to wear condoms on top of the pill. Not taking any chances here.
  • @Lynnlove28 yep I'm with you... I had no sex drive through my whole pregnancy. I stopped bleeding at 3 weeks pp and we went for it... I only had one 2nd degree tear that wasn't bad. I am still feeling fine!
  • I'm still traumatized about my labor to even think about sex. I made the mistake of looking down there because I had to put in a supository (this recovery has sucked the big one). It looks like a fricken war zone down there with stitches, swelling, and I am literally black and blue from the front to the back. I'm only 15 days PP, but there is no way in hell im letting DH near me anytime soon.

To all of you who feel up to doing the deed, I'm slightly jealous. I can't even manage to go to the bathroom at this point without feeling like I'm dying.

  • I was out shopping the other day and decided to try on a few shoes since I wasn't ready to try to find clothes that fit my 2 week pp self.  I've always been a 7.5-8 shoe size, and did go up to 8 after my first. But, I was able to wear all of the shoes I already owned except for one pair, just had to buy the larger size in new shoes.  So I tried on a few 8s the other day and they didn't fit at all!  So I went to 8.5...  Also didn't fit.  So now I'm afraid to try on my own shoes.  Ive just been wearing flip flops and one pair of stretchy flats the last few months of pregnancy.

My sandals I wore quite a bit during pregnancy are now to big for me  :/ Now I hope to find the same ones in a smaller size or the same size just not stretched out lol. Makes me think geeez I had really puffy sausage feet.

  • I am also in the no desire to DTD camp. First, I have absolutely no energy for it, second, I remember how awful it was after DS1, and I'm not looking forward to getting through that phase again. We waited significantly longer than 6weeks with DS1, but I barely tore this time, so maybe we'll be a little closer to 6 weeks, but definitely not before.

  • My DH was on the receiving end when I delivered my first. I think it was about 4 months before I could convince him to DTD. It was pretty tortuous to wait so long.

This time I'm ready already at 2w pp. But I'll wait at least 2 more weeks, I'm sure. Also, he wasn't traumatized with this delivery.

This pretty much sums up how I feel towards all things postpartum and being a FTM:

I already pressed the heart to say love it but I just have to say it again. I LOVE THIS!! lol This is exactly how I'm feeling
  • Anyone else still having pain down there?  I'm 5 weeks pp today and I still feel a slight "tugging", or pulling, at the site where my stitches were.  I go in soon for my 6 week checkup, so I can ask then, but I didn't know if this was normal/if I should worry/rest before the checkup.  I had a second degree tear and stitches.

I stopped taking pain meds and using witch hazel around 3 weeks pp.

For me, EBF, it hurt so bad. Like sandpaper in the vagina due to low estrogen I believe. Stock up and pour on the lube!
    Exactly This!!!
  • With DS, we waited at least the 6 weeks to DTD and ended in a failed attempt(s). For me, EBF, it hurt so bad. Like sandpaper in the vagina due to low estrogen I believe. Stock up and pour on the lube!
Yes to this! It took a while for it to stop hurting and my doctor said that is pretty normal when EBF (which I was).

  • Yes it hurt so bad for me too. Dr. prescribed me estrogen cream last time and imagine she will do it again. I'm excited but nervous about it and I'm only 1 week pp. Lots of time to wait!

  • Oh man I had no idea about the dryness with EBF!! DH and I feel like teenagers again, we're both ready to DTD but I'm only 2 weeks PP. It's a relief that my libido is returning. Towards the end if my pregnancy neither I nor DH were in the mood. We only did it to try and induce labor lol .. I am going to miss not having to worry about getting pregnant.
