Probably my last post before baby's arrival. I tried not to get pitocin as long as I could but around 9 AM, doc said we should try as I am STILL 1 cm dilated (seriously?! Only my contractions were getting stronger from 12 AM to 9 AM...)
Nurse was telling me I may have been dehydrated hence my water breaking so soon and my body just doesn't know how to handle this situation.
Anyway, I got pitocin around 9 and holy cow, contractions were another level. I caved in and got an epidural around 10 AM.
Doc came to check cervix at 10:45 AM and I was dilated to 4 cm! However, doc saw baby's heart rate drop every time I had a contraction so they gave me oxygen mask to give baby more oxygen and inserted this tube to give baby more fluid for cushion/comfort purpose. All is good now with steady heartbeat.
All while this is happening, mom got a last min flight from IL and she just got here. Tears literally rolled down both our faces the moment we saw each other. Ugh. All the feels.
I am slowly feeling the pressure to "poop" which is a good sign per RN. Almost push time, fingers crossed.
But wow, power of epidural...I lasted almost 12 hrs without it but when they told me I did not dilate more since I walked in here combined with pitocin...I so badly wanted it.
@AliKay20 thanks for the update!! I'm so glad your mom got there, I balled when my mom first got to the hospital last time too!
That's so interesting about the dehydration, I never knew that could impact your water breaking. I'll definitely start chugging water, especially with this heat and humidity we're having in the Northeast.
Omg!!! I haven't been on since yesterday and missed all of this! I cannot wait to see the baby @AliKay20!!! Good luck momma! Thoughts and prayers to you and your family!
So flipping excited about these updates from you @AliKay20 I am like a little kid on Christmas!
I also can't remember which thread this was on earlier, but I like the idea of special individual threads for August mama labors. I don't think it is snowflake like at all! (Unless it's your first post). Plus I selfishly need some reading material as I am due at the end of August and will be twiddling my thumbs while you all have your littles!

I second the vote for individual birth story threads! Gives a place to comment. "Look at that hair!" "She looks just like you!" "You named him what?!" JK . . . Probably
Acid reflux is terrible today...I actually threw up in my mouth sorry if that's TMI but it was disgusting
Ick. That stinks! I have been on pantoprazole for my acid reflux for a week and it's amaze balls! My heart burn is completely gone! Wish I would have complained to my midwife earlier about it! Maybe your OB can look into it for you?

I can only get on the Bump in the evenings (and even then only for a short time before I fall asleep!), so I am way late here, but I am thinking of you @AliKay20 and sending good thoughts your way! Thanks so much for the updates--so happy for you and your family!
@AliKay20 I'm so excited for you and can't wait to see an update!
I'm a little concerned today. The past two times I've gone to the bathroom I've noticed the tiniest of pinpricks of blood on my liner (have to wear one due to heavy pregnancy discharge). It's bright redish/slightly pink. It looks more like I have a cut or something from shaving a couple days ago that maybe started bleeding a little? I checked, though, and don't see anything like that. Also, when I wipe, there's no blood. I'm assuming it's nothing to be concerned about whatsoever since the amount is so small. But has anyone else had this or know what it is? My OB told me I'd probably begin spotting toward the end of pregnancy as my cervix dilates. But I feel like this isn't what she was talking about.

Hmm, it could be your cervix. I would give your OB a call and see if they want you to come in. I think any amount of blood during pregnancy would be concerning.

@JournoGrl23. I second calling your OB. I didn't have any bleeding with my first
@BrunetteBabe722 I hope you are doing better today. It is so gross when that happens.
So earlier this week I started feeling tingling in my fingers all the time. It is very annoying. The only time it stops is if I don't use them. Well I work In an office and type all day so that is hard to do. Driving is the worst. When I grip the steering where they tingle my whole 30-60 min commute to and from the office.
has anyone else's faces gotten a lot fuller? I was comparing pics from pre-pregnancy and now, and whoa! My face looks so different! I hope this is temporary?! Haha
Crap on a crutch!! How the heck did I miss all this?? Congrats @AliKay20! What a beautiful baby!
@squishy0511 My nose has expanded to twice it's normal size. I can tell I am not just imagining it.....some of my co-workers asked me yesterday if I was allergic to something. I can even feel the blood pumping in my face now. Just one more wonderful symptom! FX it goes back down to normal after deliver.
@midwestbaby@tinkerbell11210 thank you. I had DH check this morning because there was another one from over night. He said in the exact area it's appearing on the liner it does look like an irritated ingrown hair from attempting to shave without being able to see. The pinpricks have been the size of the head of a needle and nothing when I wipe so I believe I've concluded it's not actually coming from my vagina. I'm keeping an eye on it through the weekend though and may end up calling my OB on Monday (the next time they're open). Thankfully I have an appointment on Thursday.
Ok this is the second day in a row that I've had brownish/pink discharge (sorry for TMI) anyone else had this in a previous pregnancy? I thought I lost my mucous plug two weeks ago. I've googled and all that jazz but just wondered if anyone is or has experienced this in the past. I have a dr appt at 1 so I'll be asking then. Just curious of anyone else's experiences.
@squishy0511 I went back to the school where I used to teach earlier this week to drop off some maternity clothes to a teacher friend and saw the Assistant Principal for the first time in a few months. The first thing he said to me was, "Wow, your face has gotten fatter!"
Come on, man!
So I'm right there with you.
@jacmkelley Hoping that everything goes okay at the doctor today!
@jacmkelley I'm only a FTM but from my own googling/research I think your mucus plug can be lost in increments, and even regenerate and lose again... But im no OB so I would say just give the doc a call!
i have an odd symptom today which I have no idea if it's related to pregnancy... I got a very odd rash type mark on my face.... At the crease of my chin. No itching or hurting, just randomly appeared. Anyone else have odd pregnancy face rashes?

I had one that appeared last night across my forehead and itched really bad. It's fine now though. I also have no idea if it's pregnancy related or not.
@caitlinj187. Now that I think about it, there was one day during second trimester that I wife up with a random red mark on my forehead. I think it took a couple days to fade completely. No itching or anything but I have no idea what caused it. I wasn't sure if it was a weird pregnancy thing or out just a weird human body thing.
@tinkerbell11210 It sounds like the beginning of carpal tunnel. That's exactly how mine started a few weeks ago and now I have to wear wrist braces most of the day. My fingers and hands go from tingling to numb and back again. Good luck!
Thanks everyone! Went to Dr, she didn't even really address it lol. I told the nurse and by the time she came in did a "check" and talked to me about everything I forgot to ask her specifically. I assume she read it in my chart. I'm not worried, I think it's just the "bloody show" people talk about. I'm 3.(5sh) cm dilated and 80% effaced and have been for a week now. Prob just finally moving its way out. I'll be 37 weeks Monday so I'm not worried about him cooking for much longer! Getting excited! DD was born at 36w6d and was almost 8 lbs! I'm not too worried just excited after that appointment!
@jacmkelley Good! So glad to hear that everything seems fine. Best of luck! I am also 37 weeks this week (Tuesday) and starting to feel excited as opposed to worried. Happy for you!
@tinkerbell11210 It sounds like carpal tunnel. I have it in both hands this pregnancy but mostly in one. Dr told me it should go away after baby is here.

@BrunetteBabe722 I hate when that happens. I feel so gross after I burp and vomit a little. I hope it doesn't happen too often for you!
