Re: Symptoms Thread

  • Also, hot flashes.  My goodness my little $2 foldable fan is the best purchase I have made in quite some time. I keep it in my purse and whoo it out whenever they hit. I probably look like a ridiculous Scarlet O'Hara wanna be but I am cool darn it!

  • @Car0liiine I've also been having period cramps pretty much all day every day. I've been worried it could be some sort of pre labor thing too. But my doctors, like yours, also say it's nothing and to drink more water. I already drink 100 ounces of water a day, yet telling me to drink more water is their response to literally everything I being up. I always found that funny.
  • ok, I feel like this is such a stupid question, but what does a real contraction feel like? I've been having Braxton Hicks for a while, but today in addition to that I felt kind of crampy at times--sometimes just on one side, and I just had what felt like BH but more crampy/mildly painful, whereas BH for me is usually not painful, just uncomfortable. Nothing regular, but I'm only at 35w2d, so I'm not really ready for labor to start! I really assumed that once I started having contractions I would know it, but today has just been weird.

  • @cait5413 BH are not painful. They usually start in the top of your abdomen and move down and just frel
like a tightening. A real contraction can start lower, maybe in your lower abdomen or lower back and feels crampy and tight at the beginning, but there is definitely more discomfort associated with real
    contractions vs. BH.

  • The weirdest thing happened to me today. I was getting my hair done, everything was fine then I felt like I couldn't breathe, I was dizzy and started sweating a lot. I asked my beautician could we take a break, I stood up and immediately plopped down on the floor. She ran and got me some water. After maybe 5/6 minutes I was fine.....but I just don't know what that was.
Also she made a house call for me, so we were at my house and I keel it very cool so it wasn't heat related. Anyone else possibly experienced this or know what that was???
  • Any STM's ever dealt with PUPPS before? My OB said that its an itchy, bumpy rash that can show up in your stretch marks and other body plarts. Ive started to get a bumpy, itchy rash on the backs and sides of my hands. Im trying to not scratch, but its killing me and the bumps are actually painful. Any suggestions?
  • @alyssajrob22... I've been wondering if I'm getting it too. I have little red bumps on my belly, and my hands and feet have been itchy the last week or two, and it seems to be getting worse. I'm hoping if it is PUPPS it stays mild and just annoying. I'm 4 weeks from my due date now. My next appt is Wednesday and I'll be asking about it then
  • @Stephanie7693 I have a little over 5 weeks to go. I was just at the doctor on Thursday and she wasnt concerned then. But just in the past 24 hours it has gotten so much worse. Its crawling up my arms and I itch so bad. Nothing is helping right now. They said to call the oncall doctor if it turns
  • I just read that it only happens with first babies... is this your first? This is my 3rd, so I'm not sure if it can be pupps. I hope your itching gets under control @alyssajrob22! Definitely call I'd you don't find relief soon
  • @Stephanie7693 Yeah, this is my first. :-/ Im hoping it gets under control soon too!!
  • @alyssajrob22 have you read about cholestasis or ICP? I first heard about it on the birth hour podcast, but it's not something doctors seem to pick up on right away. Hope the itching lets up though!!
  • @alyssajrob22 I recently messaged my doc about random itch on my arm; now I know it's different than small red bumps that may cause the itch but I told him I was worried about cholestasis.

He said as long as the itch isn't on the hands and feet, we should be OK. He also said to try some Benadryl cream and see if that helps. Did your doc say anything to relieve the itch?

I know how worrisome it can be even if doc doesn't seem too concerned about it. Hope everything turns out ok!
  • @midwestbaby thanks!  Making a trip to CVS now!
I layer them "back there" if you know what I mean on a pad and wear them to bed. It does help a little. But man I can't wait until this kid comes out. I never appreciated pooping normally so much in my entire life.

Also I upped my yogurt and kiwi fruit intake this week in hopes that it keeps thing happier in the digestive tract.
I've been using them for the last few days and definitely getting relief.  It was almost instant relief! It's still there but not nearly as painful as it was.  I'm so ready for her to get here so I can function normally again too.  Not too much longer at all!
  • Lower back pain, intense pressure, lightning crotch, a ton of Braxton Hicks, diarrhea, a lot more discharge, and haven't gained any weight in the last two weeks. FTM 34w1d so I know these symptoms can come weeks before you actually go into labor but man if I have to deal with this for another 6 weeks, that's gonna be rough
  • When DH massages my swollen feet, they hurt a lot! I didn't sense any pain few weeks ago but now, even if he just lays his hand on my foot, I can't handle the pain. What in the world? And yes, I will never forget as this is my first but third trimester means constant cramps and discomfort for me until it's go time!
  • 35 weeks tomorrow and have been lucky to avoid them until now. Pain in the butt. Dreaded hemorriods!
    Married - 4/7/07

    Son #2- 8/18/10
    Baby 3 due 8/8/16
  • @AliKay20 and @kristynmac Yeah, the doctor brought cholestasis up, but said to only be concerned about it if the itching got to my palms and soles of my feet. Right now the itching on my hands is in the tops of my hands and the sides. And they said that there isnt a whole lot I can try other than lotion, cold compresses. They said that I could try the Benadryl cream, but that it hasnt helped a lot of their patients.
  • The pelvic pressure has gotten so bad the past few days. I was trying to explain what it felt like to DH because apparently describing it like "feels like my pelvis is bruised" isn't good enough. I told him it feels like someone swung a bat and hit me right in the vagina.
  • how long can you ladies stand/do housework like cook or clean before becoming overwhelmingly uncomfortable? Seems like a half hour is my limit before my belly, pelvis, back just says NOPE try again in an hour. I feel worthless!!!
  • @CaitlinJ22 - I have the same problem. I usually aim for about half an hour of slow productivity on my feet and then sit down for half an hour. And I can do that for a good chunk of the day on weekends, but by 5, I'm beat and just have to sit down all evening! And if the productivity is errands, I can run like two and the heat kills me!

I told mine it's as if someone punched his penis and the bruise has spread all throughout that lower part of the body so each time he takes a step, he feels the heaviness/soreness.

With the swollen feet and immense pelvic pressure, I feel like I'm walking on cobblestones barefeet. 4 more weeks to go...
  • Has anyone had their toe go numb?  I am going to ask the doctor today, but my little toe is partially numb.  Maybe need to see the chiropractor.

My heel was numb along with foot pain. Per my midwife, it's tarsal tunnel which is like carpal tunnel in your foot. It's all circulation/swelling/nerve related. Random thing that totally help relieve the discomfort: papaya enzyme extract and B-12 once a day.
  • I had a list of things to do/clean/finish this weekend and in the past I would have finished it all in one day, but I feel so exhausted and get light headed if I am up and moving for too long. I had to break all of this little stuff into a few hours over three days this weekend and it was so frustrating to have to take breaks. Anyone else have this exhausted/ light-head feeling?
  • @kristynmac Yes! I get tired out so easily now, and have to take a lot of rest breaks. It sucks.

My body has suddenly gone crazy over the past few days. Swelling, my feet hurt, period-like cramping, back pain, pelvic pain when I move certain ways and so, so hungry all the time. I don't think labor is imminent but my body seems to be prepping for it. On the bright side, after months of constipation I'm pooping like a champ!
  • Guys...I thought I was tripping but I think this is legit yet another new discovery in my 3rd tri:

I hear popping/clicking noise now as I enter my 37th week. It's in my lower belly and it's almost like the baby is snapping her finger (just once or twice max). Never a dull moment!
  • I don't know if it's allergies, a cold, or just pregnancy congestion gunk, but I've had congestion/a cough for the past several days.  Occasionally when I cough hard it'll make me see stars...scares me every time
  • @Sunnyn75 if your seeing stars i would call the Doctor, but congestion does happen during pregnancy
  • the past two nights i have a tough time getting comfy to sleep on my side. plus my back is aching. just getting through each day seems so long. 34 weeks tomorrow!!
  • Has anyone had a burning sensation in the area at the bottom of your ribcage/top of your belly? This happened to me a few times over the weekend. And I don't mean like heartburn. I felt this hot sensation like something was burning me from the outside, like I felt the need to pull up my shirt and see if something was on my skin. It was the weirdest thing. There was no mark, sunburn, bug bite, rash, etc. The feeling went away pretty quickly, but it did happen a few separate times.
  • @Snaps816 is it on one side or the other? I have a lot of upper right pain. I had an ultrasound during my last pregnancy (last year) to make sure my gall bladder was fine. They didn't find anything so we are just chalking it up to normal pregnancy pains. It is not fun at all!
  • Well... constipation is no longer an issue for me! I'm going at least twice a day now. So weird
  • @jamiesc58 It was a little to the right of center. This makes me nervous because way back in my first tri I had a terrible stomach ache and the doctor thought it could have been gall bladder related. I better ask about it at my appointment on Friday.
  • @Snaps816 it never hurts to ask. Better safe than sorry!
  • @AliKay20 good to know I'm not the only one hearing a popping/snapping sound. I was beginning to think I was going crazy. Lol

Lmao, I thought I was too! Hahaha!! Apparently it's normal... :)
  • @AliKay20 good call on reaching out to your doctor! Good luck!! How far along are you?

@Snaps816 I get the same feeling, but more like intense cold, like I spilt water on myself. I think it's a numb spot from my belly being pressed while I'm sitting. Is it only when your sitting or random times?

    37 wks tomorrow!
  • Seriously how am I still leaking? How fast does your water breaking last? :/
