Re: Symptoms Thread

  • When did any of you start having contractions??? I've researched and read everything possible. I haven't experienced any yet (I'm 32 weeks)......look I'm not complaining, I just would rather they had came earlier. I don't want them to hit me and I freak out. Any advice???

  • @lwc1112 and @jacmkelley - Thanks for the sound advice.  I've been feeling better as the day has gone on and plan to rest this evening and try to get to bed early.  Seems to have been just an off morning!

I'm not having them but I'm taking progesterone shots. Not sure if it is correlated or not. I plan on asking my Dr about it. This is also baby #2 for me and wth DD I had BH all the time.
  • @jacmkelley @MrsEWilson
I'm 35 weeks and haven't had a single BH (yes, I'm sure.) When I asked about it at my 32 week appointment, the OB thought it was odd that I was expecting to have any at this point. He said I may never get any and that doesn't reflect on how labor will go at all.

Wow!! Well I have an appointment next week. I will definitely ask her. I didn't know some women never get them. Its just I'm very dramatic and I don't want them to hit me too hard. Lol
  • @jacmkelley
I'm going to ask my doctor about this next week. She always ask me have I had any and when I say no, her left eyebrow goes up. Very confusing reaction.

Is anyone experiencing upset stomach after meals?  I'm on baby number 3 and it happened late in 3rd trimester with other pregnancies too, just wondering if I'm alone. I Eat, then I've got like 20-30 minutes to get home to the bathroom. I wouldn't call it diarrhea because it doesn't continue, just one good time and done.

Yes! I have this too, any time I am going to go #2, pretty upset stomach but no diarrhea. This is my first so I thought it may be something I am eating or not enough water, but I have been slowly eliminating things and haven't been able to pin down the source. Guess it's just another wonderful symptom!
  • @jacmkelley  No contractions for me either yet. 32 weeks also.

Got my school nurse to check my blood pressure yesterday, as my feet were very swollen. Slightly high bottom number 120/90. Doc's office says it could be due to tiredness or stress and just to keep an eye out for any more symptoms.

Are you on progesterone shots at all? I am wondering if the lack is from that? I didn't have the shots with DD so I wonder if it's keeping me from having them - no clue.
  • This is going to sound like a ridiculous question but what do contractions feel like?

I was induced when I had DD and only had back labor so I don't really know what contractions feel like. The past few days I've had moments of my entire stomach will hurt, cramp almost like gas pain and then stop. The only reason I ask is because it mainly hurts the top part of my stomach and it radiates into my mid back.

@LEOwife726 I have had loose stools pretty much the whole pregnancy. Just recently have had a couple of days where I'm constipated, or at least it's difficult to poop. (How long do you have to go without pooping before you're "constipated"?)
Not a pretty subject so I apologize but . . . . My poor arsehole! So about a year ago I went in to my doctor because I had had what I thought were hemorrhoids for over a year. They didn't itch or hurt most of the time but sometimes hurt to wipe and I would get little spots of blood on the tp. Doctor explained those weren't hemorrhoids, but "anal papillae" I believe he said. Basically just like little flaps of extra skin. And the only way to get rid of them is to see a surgeon who specializes in anal/rectal surgery. (No idea there were people out there who specialized in that!) And that it most likely would not be covered by insurance. Welll over the past couple weeks those little suckers have gotten so swollen and irritated! I feel like my asshole has bloomed! (Sorry for that visual) I dread pooping because it hurts even if I use wipes and am super gentle. Also I'm getting my strep b swab at my next appointment and it's with one if of the OBs I haven't met before and I'm embarrassed.

@MrsEWilson- I didn't have BH or any contractions until I went into labor with dd1. I also haven't had any with this pregnancy.  I've never been on progesterone so that isn't a factor.  Some people get them, some don't.  I had several Drs and nurses question whether I was actually having contractions and after the fact was told I handled them amazingly (no meds). It looks like you're one of the lucky ones that doesn't need to constantly worry/question if you are going into labor.
  • @jacmkelley Nope. No shots here. I have a lot of friends who've had babies recently and there seems to be a big range in BH. Some who had them early, others that never had them at all and everything in between.
  • @Lynnlove28... contractions feel like something squeezing the baby, and your whole belly gets hard as a rock. Once you get into the painful part of them, it feels like your insides being squeezed in a vice or something. Some people compare them to cramps, and they are comparable, but I feel like that can be a confusing reference.
I know that's not the best description, but it's the best I can think of lol
  • @Car0liiine someone was telling me the other day that babies tend to have the same sleep schedule as us after their born. I really hope that's not the case because if so this child will be a night owl.

I dont know what's worse, the nights where I get no sleep or the nights where I will fall asleep for 30 minutes at a time and toss and turn and get up to pee. I should find my Fitbit so I can see just how my sleep is. Thank goodness DD still takes pretty good naps because I nap when she does pretty much everyday.
  • @Lynnlove28 I thought about going out and buying a Fitbit just so I could see what my sleep looks like. I swear, I was up like 65 times last night. I may be exaggerating a little but that is honestly what it felt like. Our 1 year old slept with us and she is a very "active" sleeper. That is the only way I can describe her due to the amount of moving she does. I feel like I was putting her back up on the pillow all night. Then having to pee...ugh!
  • @skelly1990 yes! I just recently noticed both my wrists, mainly my right, has been hurting. I didn't connect it to anything pregnancy related and just figured I haven't been taking enough breaks from the computer at work (probably because I'm too tired to get up and walk around as much as I used to!)

i wonder if carpal tunnel is more common when you are pregnant for any reason?
  • Just when I become used to these newly developing symptoms (aka swollen feet for the past few wks), I now have another
    one or two.

There is pressure on my pelvic bone and every time I walk, it hurts. Also, my swollen feet are now painful as if I'm walking on rocks. 36 weeks tomorrow but I'm afraid of the next 4 weeks...
  • My bh have been out of control today. They're getting to the point where I think I should start timing them, and then they take a break for a while. But man its been uncomfortable today. I just hope this boy doesn't want to come too early, he still needs a couple more weeks in there!
  • Omg gross but worst pregnancy symptom so far for me is hemorrhoids!  I've never had one so was freaked out by it.  I've been in so much pain for 2 days.  Thank goodness I was off this week from work because I would have called in.  Takinf warm baths and using a cream right now.  Hoping it clears up very soon.  For those that have had them how long did it take to go away? Any tips?

I've been using tucks pads for a few weeks and they are the only thing that give me relief.

It might to early to ask but does anyone know or have ideas to repair skin after all these changes?? I only have 4 stretch marks so far *knocks on wood* and I heard Miderma will be good for that....but my absolute worst change is the backacne!! (Like what's up with that, why would acne even appear back there??)
I've been scratching like a caveman and may have caused some scaring. My husband said the scaring isn't noticeable because of the acne everywhere.
  • @MrsEWilson I have never found a thing to repair stretch marks and I have used tons of different creams, lotions, and oils. I am on my fourth pregnancy and now they don't bother me. I worked hard for them and gave birth to three amazing humans so far so I have earned them.  ;)
  • @mrsewilson You can use whatever you treat facial acne with on your back as well. Just have your DH help you apply it.

I layer them "back there" if you know what I mean on a pad and wear them to bed. It does help a little. But man I can't wait until this kid comes out. I never appreciated pooping normally so much in my entire life.

Also I upped my yogurt and kiwi fruit intake this week in hopes that it keeps thing happier in the digestive tract.

@Stephanie7693 I'm having the same, BH all the time. It makes me worried!

Same. The poop sitch can be over now.
  • @caitlinj187 Pregnant women can be more susceptible to it especially in the third trimester because of fluid build up. The fluid puts pressure on the nerve. For me, my left is worse than my right which is strange since I'm right-handed. I now wear wrist braces on both wrists at night and I have to wear my left wrist one throughout the day for a bit of relief. Fingers crossed it goes away after giving birth.
  • Another day of lots of contractions... makes me super glad july is only an hour away lol. But today I have felt full since lunch, even though I realized 8 hours later I was actually starving. I just haven't felt right the last couple days. I also noticed today that my skin has cleared up dramatically in the last week or so. Makes me wonder if it is almost time. I've been saying most of my pregnancy baby might come the week of the 4th, just to be like his big sister and brother who were born the week of a holiday lol. My daughter was born on labor day, and my son 3 days before st Patricks day. But my due date isn't until August 3, so I'm just praying whenever he does decide to come he's healthy enough for it. See my doc tomorrow, can't wait!

I have had it with nasal congestion. I had a series of illnesses in May and I have just never cleared up. They tell me it is allergies plus pregnancy congestion. I just want to breath with my mouth closed again and have my normal voice back. Anyone else have awful congestion?
  • @liljabee yep, I haven't been able to breathe in months!!
  • I see some ladies are having the opposite problem, but is anyone having diarrhea? My digestive tract is a hot mess, between that and the heartburn.

  • @ebilbao yes! Mine was perfect up until yesterday and today, my stomach has been super upset
  • You guys! Last night I sent DH to the futon, took some Zzzquil and slept from around 1:30 all the way until my mom came over at noon!!!!!! Cue the hallelujah chorus.

  • Went to the doc today.. confirmed baby is head down, had the strep b test, but sadly I am not dilated yet, but my cervix is beginning to thin. I was hoping for a little more progress, but I guess only being 35 weeks this is a good thing. Hoping for more progress next week! I'm ready to have this baby! I still don't feel right, and I just feel kinda icky. And I miss sleep. Ugh. I just keep telling myself I need to enjoy every movement no matter how miserable everything else gets. These are my last weeks pregnant - forever. I will miss them soon enough!
  • @liljabee yes! The congestion is torture. I have allergies too and it feels exacerbated due to pregnancy. I have to walk around with my mouth open all the time to breathe. And when I eat at work and chew with my mouth closed, I have to stop every couple chews in order to take a breath. None of the approved medication works either. Between that and my lungs being squished I feel like I'm never getting enough air.
  • Having period cramp feelings more and more every day now. I've bright up this feeling to the obs several times during the course of my pregnancy and they always just say it's nothing, make sure to stay hydrated. But with it now happening every single day with increasing frequency, I can't help but be paranoid that it's some sort of early labor symptom. Plus it just feels crummy. Hope it doesn't continue to increase for the next month.
