I've had my 6th braxton Hicks contraction in the past 40 minutes... I know its fine and normal( 34 weeks) and my DH keeps saying maybe you should call the MW... but I know what she will say... rest, drink water... etc...

But I have to go home and walk the dog and feed the animals and then do laundry... and run out to babies r us to get a gift for a coworkers baby shower that I just found out about today (its tomorrow! and I have to set it up)

@AliKay20 I think I am reaching acceptance too.. which is only bad because I have accepted that I just do not have the energy to work out anymore.. I worry that by the time the baby comes I will be so swollen and fat because I have been taking it easy
  • @SkiChic626 they are trying it this year for the first time. Paid 4th holiday and then forced 4 days of PTO. Same thing around Christmas. The idea is that most people take some of those days anyways, so as a manufacturer they would rather close and let maintenance and stuff occur without disrupting everything. I'm not super excited about it since I only have 15 PTO days, buuuut my immediate management is so reasonable and doesn't mind flexibility since I work from home and im not limited by machines being up and running.
  • @Bookhousegirl The move went smoothly and is done, thanks! I definitely went into "throw everything in random boxes" mode at the end, but it's all good. I used different color duct tape on most of the boxes so the movers would at least put them in the right rooms - zebra in the kitchen, blue in the master bedroom, etc. - and didn't worry about labeling contents. Are you almost done packing? Try to take it easy and not to overdo it... although that's easier said than done!
  • @Knottie44929339 I'm in the same non-cleaning boat and I feel sooo guilty as its part of my "job" as a SAHM. DH doesn't care. He just wants me to hire a housekeeper but I feel like it's part of my responsibility as I'm here all day.

I have been crazy nesting in other ways though, like taking on redoing the entire guest bath. Today I'm sanding down the entire vanity and hopefully painting or staining... But I can't find the energy to do the dishes lol

    Lol, hey...priorities ;)
  • I've been having contractions all day today. Not sure if my BH contractions are just getting stronger or if these are real contractions. With BH normally my belly just is tight to the touch but no cramping or discomfort. I'm a nurse in a busy ER on the east coast, running around with trauma patients all day. I was drinking water all day and still having cramping and tightening 4-5 times an hour. I was having fullness in my head, checked my BP and it was 137/77 and then 135/85 a little later. Never had issues before. I called my OB at the end if my shift they told me to go home and lay down and drink plenty of water of course. I'm a FTM so idk what to expect. All I know is I'm going to have a hard time working in a level 1 trauma center for the next 5 weeks (I'm 34+3). At least if something happens at work I can be wheeled down to OB triage!

@Curls919 I'm a cardiac nurse and it involves a lot of walking, lifting, and pulling. Pretty much everything I'm not allowed to do anymore, my boss has found me some lite duty desk jobs to do but with the new shortening cervix I'm worried my dr won't even let me do that. I'll find out tm!

@jkershaw2013 I'm also a nurse, work on a cardiac floor and I would get frequent BHs, especially after working my second 12hr shift in a row. I'd make sure to drink water all day but I think it's just a lot of activity for our bodies. Come to find out my cervix has been shortening and my BH turned into actual contractions last week which cause some other issues so now it's lite duty desk work. Idk how any floor nurse makes it all the way to her due date!
    Expecting baby #1 August 2016
Already have three furbabies- Blake, Sydney, and Chester

  • A little jealous of all the ladies that get to have maid service!! My mom and MIL will be coming over once a week once the baby is here to clean and cook so that will be nice but, I don't think I can convince hubby to get a weekly service once they stop helping out ... Boo, lame!
  • @jkershaw2013 Im not a nurse, but I do work for an oncology center that is 2 floors below OB. Ive had several of our charge RNs say that if I have any issues, to come get them and they will wheel me up to OB.
  • @Mrsrundell I'm quitting my job when the baby comes, so no cleaning service for me, either. If I were going back to work, I'd be lobbying hard for one. We struggle now to keep our place clean, and that's without a baby human crawling around on our floors. But since I'll be doing the SAHM thing for a while, and we're losing my income, I will just have to learn to be better about housekeeping! I was thinking of hiring someone to come and do a one-time deep clean before the baby comes. Not sure if I can sell DH on it.
  • I'm a SAHM and I wish we had a maid service come once a week or so.
  • @kristynmac Hahaha, I love that picture! So funny.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Just an FYI about all those who are taking Braxton hicks - my doc pointed out that "Braxton hicks" just means contractions that don't lead to a baby. So whether they are painful contractions or not, if they go on for over 2 hours you should call your OB.

When I went into labor with DS my water broke but I "wasn't" having contractions. When they hooked me up to the monitor it turned out I was having them, I just couldn't feel them!
  • I managed to get the energy to go out to see the fireworks last night. We had no intentions of going whatsoever but we did. The kids enjoyed it which made it worth every moment.

I see my Dr's 2x a week for NSTs until my delivery date. I am  ready to get through this month so I can be done with these constant appointments. I am starting to feel like I live there.

@StarLiteKiss- I was trying to move a dentist appointment and I had to tell them that I have a standing appointment on Friday mornings with my OB.  I've been seen weekly since 30 weeks.  It's only half as much as you but I feel like I won't know what to do with myself once this baby is here and I don't have to drive to their office all the time!   They are almost 30 min from me but I've now planned my errands around what is in their area.

Like I said recently, I just gave up on these drive by posts. A lot of them are symptoms related. I realize there's a newer separate maternity leave topic recently but I just hashed up the other thread that was originally there before this new one. Just my preference to use what was already created before the newer ones are created.

How many braxton hicks threads do we need? Breast pumps? Mat leave? I give up because even when you point them to the already existing well established discussion threads on what they're asking about, they don't ever come back and continue to use the board appropriately. It's just one special snowflake after another lol.
I don't mind as much if it is a subject we discussed months ago and they start a new thread instead of replying to the old one. There is a line there, you don't want to always start new threads, but you don't want to be the person who revives a bunch if zombie threads either.

I think gently directing people to the symptoms thread works well.
  • @Mfuller76 so glad you're done! I can't wait for tomorrow to be over! We got a lot done last night so today is just the final push... Basically, anything not in a box, is getting put into a miscellaneous box and I'll organize it when we get there! Luckily, we have our current house for another week or so after we move, so if there are a few things left, DH or I could always come and get them later. MIL is now taking DS for the next 2 nights, just to make things easier, which I'm feeling a bit guilty about because he's been so clingy, but I know the move would be impossible with him running around.

  • Worried baby may have turned breech yesterday  :s
  • @Stephanie7693 my FIL takes ambien and he's been addicted to it for years. It makes him really crazy if he doesn't go to bed immediately after he takes it. DH has told me some scary stories about when he was a teenager.

The worst of those stories is FIL had taken the ambien and then decided to clean his gun. When MIL tried to take the gun from him he cocked the gun and almost shot her in the stomach. DH, was 17 at the time, he had to coerce the gun away from him and he took the clip and bullets so nothing like that would happen again. FIL has other issues as well, he's had 2 massive strokes and a few mini strokes so he's completely disabled. But, he now can't sleep at all without taking it.

Dont mean to to scare you but I like hearing first hand experience about things so I thought I'd share.
  • I think this baby is gonna be a little country boy because I'm pretty sure he spent all last night boot stomping my cervix.

I'd rather revive an older thread that has more discussions around that particular topic as PP already gave their two cents and may actually be more helpful than repeating yourself on a newer thread on things we have already talked about before. Esp. when these older threads' last comment was beginning of June?? No excuse. Drive by posters rarely even use the search function. @liljabee

In other news, I woke up after dreaming that I wasn't a valued employee at my company because of my pregnancy...what in the world? As if my subconsciousness views pregnancy as a barrier to my career when in reality, I don't see it as that.

I just feel SO out of place right now. My mind is on full nesting mode while I have maybe 2 or 3 weeks left to finish my follow
up tasks so I can transition my work smoothly to my boss. I'm thinking of creating an excel sheet with all my tasks, where I am, top issues, etc. to keep ME aligned and pass that off to boss who will be covering for me.

Got my bagel & coffee this morning, put my feet up, and plan to work from home (no mtgs today!) while I have HGTV on in the background (Tiny Houses marathon).

Hope you ladies are feeling more in control and put together than I feel! Work dreams SUCK!
  • @Stephanie7693 I worked in a Psychiatrist office before my current job. The patients who took ambien were the same ones who would sleep walk and do crazy things in their sleep. It was great for some and really hard on others. Another issue was the "hangover" the next day. A lot of them complained about never feeling like they could wake back up.
  • Maybe I'll try unisom tonight and pray that works. I forgot it was on the approved list. I used to sleep walk as a kid, so the thought of doing that pregnant is scary. My NP did say if I decide to take it, just take half and don't take it every night.
I didn't even think of the side effects of ambien. Thanks ladies for the warning!
  • @Katm89 yes, usually 1-2 times a day, I always feel them on my lower left side almost by my hip and really far internally but this morning I felt them on my right side a few inches above my belly button and they were really strong so near the surface. Yesterday I could feel him moving and shifting almost all day then around 4pm I started having constant lower back pain and lots of cramping till about 7pm it finally eased up and my stomach was so lopsided then like I said this morning I feel hiccups at the top of my stomach and a hard lump above my belly button and keep getting shooting pains way down low  :( I don't know what to do, I want to call my OB office and see if I can come in to check but I feel like they're going to tell me to wait till my next appointment which is in 2 weeks!!! If I have to wait that long I might go crazy
  • Seriously on the emotional train today!!! My doctor officially has said that I have PUPPS but they are still testing me for cholestasis. Went in for my labs for that this morning after fasting for 12 hours and the lab couldnt find the order. I seriously almost cried because Im tired, sore from scratching, and hungry.

    Thank god for breakfast quesadillas.
  • @alyssajrob22 I'm so sorry! Are they able to do anything to help with the itching?
  • @Stephanie7693 They gave me an Rx for the itching, but I looked it up before I took it last night. Its category X!! Im so pissed about it! I dont want to take it and jeopardize anything this close to my EDD. Im going to call them today.
  • Definitely call them @alyssajrob22 and look up possible side effects for the baby. It's amazing what they will prescribe without telling you the harm it can do. Kinda like the ambien prescription I got today, but my NP did warn me about the possibility of addiction for the baby. Scary stuff
  • @alyssajrob22 I really hope you get some sort of relief from the itching and that its not cholestasis! Does if feel better if you soak in the tub?
  • @midwestbaby Today you are my hero... (for the other thread started by the drive by). A big majority of it though is the Jenna Marbled gif. Love it.
I haven't been able to bump as much the last few days. I went to bed last night and read the thread and I couldn't take it. Love me some Jenna M.

I never understood in the past why other boards get so mad about drive by posts. Now that we are so close to nearing the end and I feel like we have a community built, I get it.

Its like, um hello random internet person who hasn't contributed at all...please let me give you advice on shaving your crotch or not and then you can bail. Nope.

I don't even mind giving real sound advice for drive by posts from time to time if it's something serious, but that one was a big nope nope nope.
@midwestbaby I am dead laughing so bad and i love your gif as well. Then she went on k bye  her post was just pointless though, you got a handout and maybe how many times have you gone to the doctor you could have asked..... like we are at the end of pregnancy lady shouldn't you have asked a while back.  !!!!!
