I really don't like when people know you are in labor, but continue to text/call every few hours for an update. AND YET, here I am *repeatedly refreshing* waiting for news about @AliKay20 and some baby pictures.
Can there be a separate labor thread for labor updates? I HAAAATE the symptoms thread and had to go through AliKay's profile to even find why people know she's having a baby today.

@Mfuller76 I went in for an US today and didn't realize I was getting the strep test too! It hurt so bad - did yours? I asked some of my friends with kiddos and none of them remembered it being uncomfortable.
@rikopy I don't remember the strep B test hurting but I do remember the fact that my doctor didn't warn me they would swab the vagina and the butt. When he slipped it back there I was like woah, buddy watch it! Lol.
@Katm89 To be pretty blunt, it's pretty much exactly what you think having a q-tip stuck up your butt is like. It only takes a second and doesn't hurt - it's just awkward and uncomfortable. Also one in the vag, but that one was barely noticeable.

There actually is a separate labor thread about three pages back that's used for those in labor or their labor buddies to update us. Maybe we could get it pinned so people can see it and use it?
I had my GBS last week and I don't think I had my booty tested..? Or maybe I just didn't notice?! Lol it didn't hurt but, the dr did a cervical check and that was a bit on the painful side, not looking forward to more of those!
@Lynnlove28 your comment made me laugh out loud! I remember the very first GBS test I ever had. I was also not warned about the q-tip in the butt and was caught off guard. I must have jumped like I was coming off the table or something because the doctor chuckled and apologized. They are not the worst thing that happens during pregnancy but not the best either.
i am also waiting anxiously for @AliKay20 birth announcement
Not gonna lie...I got a lot of crap done today and checked off my list. My feet look horrendous! But I am taking full advantage of the nesting bug while it lasts.

The snark and random craziness of the July board is fun to read sometimes but boy do I feel bad for the regs there. I hate drama and they seem to have an over abundance of it every day. I love that our randoms board gets filled with things like "q-tips in the butt" and excitement that one of our peeps is having a baby as we speak!
I asked my doctor about the GBS test at my last appointment and I'll be getting it at my next one which is at 36 weeks. All she said was they'll be taking a swab from the vagina, nothing about the butt, so maybe different places do it differently
Ok I've always been on team "let's not be mean to the speshul snowflakes," but... if I can't understand the question because you can't even be bothered to use punctuation, I can't help ya.
Just read the post and it reminded me so much of the fishing posts on TTGP. "My boobs are sore and I have been peeing all the time." And then hope someone says you are totes knocked up. Those posts always got ripped to shreds.
"I lost my mucous plug and soooo have contractions! Am I in labor?!?, but I'm not going to ask if I could go into early labor, just sit here and fish for it."
Bye girl bye.

Catching up: I'm also jealous of @midwestbaby 's basement. Don't see many if those in SC. We don't even have a garage! I went nuts getting rid of tons of shit from all the closets and putting stuff up in the attic few weeks back. Even so we definitely don't have much storage space. We're gonna have to move it of our little starter home in the next few years for sure. I'm so glad to see how many other people procrastinated getting their name changed! Took me a few years but I finally got it done a few months ago. If you haven't looked into the process yet, I recommend getting on it asap! It seemed like every office I called said to start somewhere different. Things online said I would need to petition a judge since it was more than 2 yrs since we got married. Ended up not being able to find our marriage license and had to wait a couple weeks to get one in the mail before I could go to the social security office. (Naturally I just found the original at the very bottom of a box last week!)
Benadryl has been a God send for my insomnia. I don't take it everyday for if it's been 3 days of not sleeping I take one and sleep like a baby!
Right now I'm battling a horrible upper respiratory infection that has traveled to my chest. Was up all night coughing, post-nasal drip, sore throat - you name it. I ended up "sleeping" on the couch so my husband could sleep. Sucks being sick and 35 weeks pregnant. I keep telling myself at least I'm sick now and not when I'm in labor!
I have had the same thing! It is so miserable! It has been 10 days and I'm just feeling better but still have a bit of shortness of breath
@midwestbaby I was also thinking, this is your second pregnancy in as many years (she was on the Aug 2015 board) and you're that uninformed? And for Christ's sake, all you have to do is google "pre-term labor" or any synonym thereof and you'll get the info you need.
Shoot, I'm not really jealous that @midwestbaby has a basement... I'm just jealous she has the energy to make anything happen with it. I opened some target packages when I got home from work and am resting before I put the contents in their correct places. And I have a desk job that keeps me entertained all day...
So we went to the fire station for car seat tutorial today. The man was very nice and informative but talked wayy too much. So I was standing up out in the heat for like 45 min or something and feeling kind if nauseous when we got in the car to leave. Luckily I was keeping a big empty McDonald's cup just in case I needed to throw up while in the car. Well I put that to use. But because I've been chugging water since my appointment yesterday, I had a very full bladder. Soaked straight through my underwear and dress. Was gonna go shopping afterwards . . . Guess not! So here's a question for STMs: how do you clean a pee puddle out if car upholstery? *shame*
@Car0liiine. .. vinegar. After you scrub with soap and water, scrub with vinegar and water mixture. Hopefully your dh will be the one scrubbing though!
@kwilliams3402 I am thinking this burst of energy will be very short lived. My shower is next weekend and I can't wait to wash everything and put it away. After that, this mama is gonna be a couch potato!

@Car0liiine - puppy pads are a great thing at this point in pregnancy. Not only for the day you had today but also for the small chance that your water breaks while in the car.
Congrats @AliKay20 !!!! She is beautiful and so is her name!

@Mfuller76 I think my midwife is only going to swab my vagina...shes not testing my rectum... but I'll let u know if she does... shes been having me take vaginal probiotics weekly to prepare for the test...so that wouldn't help me if she was testing my butt...
My mom and I were talking this morning about baby names (we haven't told anyone what we picked). She was saying my friends baby's name is number 1 on this list. I think it's the trending list for this year. I was really sad to see the name we chose on that list at number 8! I know it's not really a big deal, but I was really hoping to not have kid with a "trending" name. But it's the only boy name my husband and I love and it's sticking. My girl name I had picked was fairly popular and I was going to chose it anyway. It's just nice that the names my other kids have are not popular enough to require an initial in class lol.
Vent: I keep getting hit up for these product parties lately... and people do not get that i can't just spend money on myself right now I have a list of important postpartum stuff I need. Plus make up and lotions and sex toys are not a priority right now. DH just started his new job and works so much later... and I just got a text like can you make it to my Arbonne kick off... bec my DH's friend is now selling arbonne... um no we are going on vacation tomorrow and my 34 week pregnant self needs to clean and pack for the trip.... and then I mentioned its not in the budget right now because our baby will be here in like a month and my maternity leave is pretty much unpaid and then he went on to say how we should start selling arbonne... and how its so important for us to hear the presentation... No thanks! I'm not about to have 2 jobs!!!!!! like wtf... I know this works for some people... but its time I just do not have... and you have to put money into a business like that at first... I grew up with my parents doing Amway.... you have to full commit to that business... and honestly if I was going to start my own business I would make something myself... like candles or something. So irritated... my DH's friend is 30 and still doesn't have a real job and keeps living with ppl rent free and eating pot brownies and just is going nowhere...He was supposed to be our kids God father... but DH decided to not let him anymore... he was an hour late to our shower.... and called me during the shower to find out where it was... I was a little busy
