Re: Randoms 7/4-7/10

  • @Car0liiine... I thought baby was low at 34 weeks or so, but apparently he's dropped since last week. Last week thwy said he was still high, even though I felt him on my pelvis constantly. This week has been less crotch pain but he's lower. Makes no sense to me lol. My friend that had her first baby in April said all her checks hurt a lot too... Baby never dropped. But hopefully next week will be better for you!

  • @texasmama2014  Yyyeah I was afraid of that as soon as she told me. Hopefully contractions will take care of it since I'm pretty sure I haven't had any yet.

  • I'm also not able to wear about half of my maternity clothes, especially the fitted dresses my belly makes them too short now  :/ I refuse to put in the effort to get pants on, so I have about 3 dresses/shorts and shirts I rotate through.

  • @mksfav I plan to ask at my next appointment too, which is still over a week away. Let me know when your doctor says if your appointment is before mine! I can't figure out what it is. I thought maybe that's the motion they make when they swallow the fluid as part of practice breaking? But I don't see why it would make that motion.
  • I actually only ever bought one "maternity" item. They're definitely my favorite pair of pants, just some denim capris. But everything else is just so or plus size stuff and I'm thinking I will be able to wear a lot of it post partum too, it will just fit differently. @Allisun85 I probably wear a maxi dress 5/7 days a week. Just so easy and comfy in this heat.

  • I live in my swim suit and dresses. Occasionally I put on my only pair of shorts and a tank top, thankfully they still fit. But I don't have many, and wearing pants is such a pain.

I've been MIA on here for the past couple weeks because we just moved and I started a new job and things have been crazy. I'm getting so frustrated that I can't unpack as much as I want and my husband has been dealing with an old mouse infestation that the landlord apparently didn't know about. He has cleaned and bleached under cabinets, took apart the stove, pulled out the dishwasher and refridgerator, and we still need the hvac system professionally cleaned. Not to mention that there were poison bait traps everywhere and I'm so paranoid that our cat is going to get into one that we didn't find before hand. Ahh!
  • @Jcr727 oh man! We had a mouse a few months ago and those things suck!! Cleaning up after is pretty disgusting as well! Hopefully the rest of your move went smoothly!
  • DD is being hell to get to bed tonight. We are trying an earlier nap and bed time, nap time was fine but we've been trying to get her to bed since 8:30 and its now 9:10. She used to go to bed between 9 and 10 but normally closer to 10. I need her to start going to bed earlier for the sake of my sanity. DH is laying with her now because I don't have the patience. She just wants me to lay with her but she won't go to sleep.
  • @Stephanie7693 @Bookhousegirl Called about the category X- They said that it really is something that they prescibe during pregnancy, just in very small doses. They said that Benadryl wouls have the same effect as the medication in that it would knock me out so I could sleep, but wouldnt help with the actual itching. Im going to go with the Benadryl for now!! Aloe gel seemed to calm it down enough to relax for a little bit. @kristynmac Havent tried soaking in the tub, but I might. Im kind of wondering if an oatmeal bath would help.

I think it was more like multiple mouse families... Not cool. Move went ok but we are still trying to finish unpacking :(
  • @alyssajrob22... I've heard oatmeal baths can help. Hopefully aloe keeps working for you too. I do find it strange what meds are approved during pregnancy, like narcotics. But they can be safe in appropriate doses. I know I'm afraid to take the ambien I was prescribed today, so I think I'm going to try unisom first. My doc said that was ok. I just hate having to worry about it. How many weeks are you? I hope you don't have to deal with pupps for too long!

@Car0liiine my first cervical check was the same way!  The dr said my cervix was up in front of the baby's head because she was sitting very low, which made it difficult to check and causes a lot of pressure. I also had some spotting afterwards. I had felt like the baby was in a funny spot because every time I bent over my tailbone hurt. The baby moved later that day and I stopped having that uncomfortable tailbone pain. All my cervical checks with DS were not painful and my second check for this pregnancy wasn't either.
  • @midwestbaby I remember the cervical checks being more of a let down than anything. I would always go in hoping for something and would leave discouraged.
  • @Lynnlove28
That is kind of my thinking, I don't want to be disappointed.

  • @car0liiine My post partum plan is to head to forever 21. They have a great plus section, and it's all wicked cheap.

And omg. I am soooooo iiiiitchy. Is this a pregnancy thing? I actually put a hole in the sole of my foot scratching.

  • I refuse to prescribe ambien.  I've seen to many bad effects, but then again I work in an ER...
  • @midwestbaby From what I've read, many doctors are moving away from regular cervical checks because apparently it's not a very good indicator as to how close you are to labor. You might be totally closed and give birth tomorrow or walk around at a 3 or 4 for weeks. So I doubt there would be any problem with declining until you are possibly in labor. And even then if you think it might discourage you, you can ask that they not share your progress/lack of progress.

  • Guys, cervical checks were the most painful part of labor for me. I got like 3 of them and I almost broke DH's hand as I squeezed it during the pain. I basically told my doctors I don't want them checking in office. I'll wait for contractions or my water breaking.
  • I remember the cervical checks being uncomfortable, but not painful with my first.  I did however have a membrane sweep and was not prepared for how much that hurt. I'm supposed to have my first check next week, hopefully it won't be too bad...
  • @Stephanie7693 35 weeks today! Im hoping for a few more weeks, but I might not be saying that if the itching continues. Definitely trying the oatmeal bath tomorrow. My mom told me to try it too.
  • @alyssajrob22 I really hope the bath helps you! It does sound pretty old school, but I remember having chicken pox (pre pox vaccine) as a kid and my grandma refilling the tub because it would get cold, but those oatmeal baths were amazing followed by coating a ton of calamine lotion on!
  • My husband just asked me when I'll be baking lactation cookies.  I'm prepping freezer meals now but wasn't planning on making any of those cookies until after baby.  I'm just laughing because I'm pretty sure last time he ate more of them than I did!
  • With the excitement of a new baby being born soon it made me start thinking of @tmk0325. I hope you and the twins are doing well!!
I was wondering the same thing yesterday! @tmk0325 I hope all is well with the boys and you!

  • @Curls919 I hated the cervical checks during labor too! I was almost to the point of tears as my OB dug around down there in between contractions. I never dialated (maybe it's because baby was breech) so I was like LEAVE ME ALONE as I knew we were going into the OR anyway.

I am okay with her checking during office visits even though it's sooo uncomfortable since I'm interested to see if I'm progressing at all this time around.

  • @kristynmac... speaking of chicken pox and oatmeal baths, that reminds me of the pink calamine lotion! Wonder if that would work and if it's ok to use during pregnancy?

@alyssajrob22... I'm glad to hear you are 35 weeks already! I think you mentioned that before but I'm forgetful. Hopefully your docs won't make you go too long if you're still miserable in a few weeks
  • Not a happy camper tonight. My plan was to take some unisom and pray for sleep. Maybe even get laid first. Nope. Can't even sleep in my own bed tonight since my dh decided not to take a shower before bed. I can't touch the man, much less try to get my pregnant insomniac nose to sleep next to him. He's a deisel mechanic and he worked an 11 hour day in his not air conditioned shop. It was 90 and humid here today. He does not smell pleasant.
  • @Stephanie7693 there have been many nights where I've forced DH to take a shower because of my pregnancy nose. I'm sure that if I didn't have the nose of a blood hound I wouldn't have even smelled him but I have.

Im riding the insomnia struggle bus with you though. Tonight I had trouble falling and staying asleep. Hence why I'm bumping at 5:20am.
  • I'm the same. I got 5 hours asleep two days ago and then was wide awake this morning at 4:30am even after going to bed at 11:00. I've been waking up at the same time each morning. I thought it was the result of jet lag, but it's been almost two weeks so now I'm thinking its insomnia which I've never had before. It sucks.
  • @Hannah0726 @Lynnlove28 I'm right there with ya. Worked a late shift...went to bed just after midnight. It's 5 am and I'm wide awake. 4 hours of sleep these days seems to be my max. Wtf body?

  • This is the first morning all week that I've slept past 5:15... I only made it to 6:00 but I'll take it! What is with this early morning rising?!

Today's move day for us, so of course I was up half the night anxious about it. The other half of the night I was dreaming about everything that could go wrong. I can't wait for this day to be over!

  • @Lynnlove28

My doc doesn't do them anymore bc they are painful and not a great indication of when the baby is coming. Fine by me!
  • @Bookhousegirl Good luck with your move today!
  • @midwestbaby that is amazing. Looking for another basement? Mine is a disaster!
