Any STMs+, did you find Braxton Hicks contractions started earlier/were stronger in a second pregnancy? I feel like I've had a ton today and they're definitely more on the painful side as opposed to just uncomfortable like with DD, and I don't feel like I was having them this frequently or this early with DD.
@DobbysSock I never noticed BH with my first. This time around, I have them all.the.time. sometimes they are on the painfully uncomfortable side. It doesn't matter if I'm resting, hydrated or not. I have a ton of them
Thanks @SparkySunshine I was hoping I wasn't alone! I do feel like most of the things I experienced last time are happening several weeks earlier this time around, so I figured it was probably normal, but with them being more intense I was slightly concerned.
@Shelby00519 Depends on who you ask. I used regular laundry detergent (not even free and clear) from day one and never had a problem. I figured I survived it and took a chance. A good chunk of babies do have sensitive skin though, so you may want to use a free and clear (not necessarily baby which is more expensive) for a while if you prefer to play it safe. I'm also the daredevil type who cut baby's nails still at the hospital because I hated the idea of mittens taking baby's hands away. I live on the edge.
@dobbyssock Yes yes and yes. My BH the first time around were nothing special. There but not alarming. This time around I got them early (16/17 weeks) and they happen all the time. They've progressed the last couple of weeks to being more painful and insistent regardless of my activity or hydration levels. My doctors seem unphased.
I I have an especially active LO which may be the trigger for why I have so many. Example: last Thursday I counted how many in a 12hr period and I had 27. If that helps for reference.
@dobbyssock Same here. BH started this time around 20 weeks and have been really uncomfortable. The first time around I remember just feeling a tightness in my stomach.

For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
I just ordered myself a large stuffed crust pizza with extra toppings for lunch. The whole office got to see it delivered and I offered no one any. I plan to eat this baby myself since I barely ate yesterday. I have no regrets or guilt.

Please don't eat your baby.

Still trying to wrap my head around today's 32w appointment. My midwife had ordered a growth scan due to baby measuring ahead, scan shows that at 32w he is measuring at 35w. Estimated weight at 5lbs 14oz (I know that can be off). I don't have GD, was normal BMI pre-pregnancy, and have gained about 1/2 of what I gained with DD, yet this kid is big. My daughter was 8lbs 13oz, so I wasn't expecting a little one this time around, but now I am a bit scared that he is going to be so big I'm going to end up with a c-section. Midwife said if he hasn't arrived by 40w, they can induce between 40-41w, which I'm fine with. Just a lot to think about after today's appointment, thankfully baby is healthy and even though he is over the 90th percentile for growth, breathing/movement is healthy.
I need to rant at my doctors office which I usually love. As most of you know I was having back pain, cramping, contractions this weekend. Then it turns out they feared pre-e and I've been on watch for that all week. They keep telling me "if _____ happens, that's not good, you need call us." Well ____ keeps happening be it sudden dramatic swelling in my feet, headaches, back pain, vision changes, etc. And I keep freaking calling and they keep acting like its NBD. And maybe it is NBD but don't scare me and tell me I need to call if ___ happens! I've now shown all pre-e signs this week besides an elevated protein level but I'm still getting the "meh" response and I am getting really frustrated and still don't know if I should be worried or not!.
Baby still moving? I think that would be the big F#CK THIS sign for me. But I would definitely insist on going in if you're not getting the ease of mind you need. It's so important to be an advocate for yourself and the baby! Your doctor might give you more thorough answers than the nurses.
@theshannondee If all of that is going on, please go to urgent care/the ER since your office is acting like a bunch of douche canoes. I would call the office and say, "you told me to call when these things happen and since you won't help me, I'm going in. Bye Felicia."

Any idea how to encourage your spouse to want to exercise/hit the gym with you without seeming controlling? Every time I ask if my husband will go to the gym with me, it turns into an argument about how controlling I'm being and how I'm trying to mold him into something he's not. I'm not really looking forward to spending a whole lot of time at the gym by myself. I see his point in that I wouldn't want to feel forced to do something I didn't want to do. But we're not talking about training for American Ninja Warrior here...I just want to live a healthy/active lifestyle WITH my family around me and not just workout by myself. I already spend hardly any time with the man. Any advice on how to approach this issue would be appreciated.
@rnyland1 I went through this with my husband. I just started working out in front of him and I got hotter than hell and ALL OF A SUDDEN, he wanted to join me. He said he didn't want me to get too hot for him.

@rnyland1 a few years ago I got drunk and apparently told my husband that his arms were sexier when he worked construction in college. That did the trick.
@rnyland1 This is totally a preschool teacher strategy but I also laid it on really thick when he exercised in the beginning. Now he's in the habit and has seen a lot of results and is super self motivated, but for a while there I majorly rewarded the behavior I liked and made side eyes at the shit I didn't like. Being fit in front of him also helped, though he hates running and I love it so even though I got him to do a half marathon it wasn't something he wanted to keep up long term. He had to find something he liked.
@rnyland1 Exercising in front of him/ making sure he knows you're doing it worked for me before. I would always pick stuff up and be like "wow look how strong I'm getting!" or run to the front door and be like "It's crazy how much energy I have!" and that seemed to really get in his head and he started lifting weights and wanting to come on my jogs because he was convinced I felt better and was happier (true). Then I'd compliment him and point out muscle tone showing under a shirt or tell him I think some girls are looking at him in public and that really kept him going (mostly true lol).
While pregnant I have no idea. DH has gained a bunch of weight and is as lazy as me these days... I figure it's only fair. A few more weeks and we can work out together again! I'll just start the whole thing over. I have been mentioning working out and ideas for how we can get in exercise with a newborn or on a tight schedule and telling him he has to help me get back in shape and help me meal prep, etc etc to get him mentally ready for a big shift.

Thank you. I think I needed this kick in the pants. I'm going after school. I cry when faced with uncomfy situations so I can't wait to waddle my puffy emotional self into their lobby. WOO!
@theshannondee that is so not ok. I'm glad you decided to go in! I just don't get why your office would tell you to be on the look out for those symptoms and then brush you off. Fx all is ok with you and baby!
In my childbirth class this week, the instructor recommend the app "Full Term" for timing contractions. I haven't had to use it yet (and hopefully not for awhile), but I like having it on the front page of my phone when the time comes. It's a free app and I believe it's both iPhone and Android (though I have an iPhone so I"m not sure).
@LadyFleck interesting about the baby's activity - this LO seems a lot more active than DD too, I wonder if that has something to do with my BH being stronger and more frequent
@LadyFleck it probably would have been clearer if I used the proper punctuation (Dobby'sSock) but I don't think you're tagable on TB if there is punctuation in your SN so I didn't want to do that!
