Re: January Randoms

  • @Lindsayleigh1989 I hope your headache goes away quickly. I was in bed until after 3 pm yesterday with an awful headache. I had Tylenol, coffee, lots of water, peppermint oil, and napped as much as possible. Afterward, I read that a cold compress or ice pack on your head while submerged in a warm bath is one of the best things you can do. Maybe that could help? Besides, who can say no to a bath?

  • I don't eat warm meat subs. It was cold and tasty.
You know, we give meat sandwiches to pregnant patients all the time. In the 5 hospitals I havr worked at, pregnant chicks had the option of a turkey or ham sandwich via sack lunch. That was their 'snack', with graham crackers and peanut butter.
It was not until I came to the Bump that I read about the no lunch meat thing.
    Thank God for Raid.

    Question...

Does anybody have any tricks tips or cheats for completing online traffic school. My DMV gave DH a huge list of places and I don't even know where to start.

Love is when you complete traffic school for your spouse.

I recently did online traffic school for my DH too. I just looked for the cheapest one, I believe it was something like 5buckstraffic school. They are all pretty much the same, and that one really was only $5.

As for salami.... I eat all the salami and it is amazing. I don't even consider it deli meat tbh. DH did buy some honey ham from the supermarket (the prepackaged kind) and it looked like it was kind of open and sketchy. I did not eat that, but I wouldn't eat it even if I wasn't pregnant.

Anyone have any advice on leg injuries? I slipped on the ice yesterday and my knee and whole upper leg are killing me. Nothing is broken but the pain is pretty intense when I walk.

And yes I know no one here is a doctor. I just know xrays are a no no right now and no doc offices are open around me. Just wondering if anyone has delt with this.

You can't know something isn't broken without some sort of imaging done. And a leg x-Ray isn't that big of a deal, as PP's said they'll place a lead apron over your lady parts to protect baby. Having an X-Ray done after having an injury isn't the worst thing in the word, especially considering you get radiation from other parts of life.

As far as an MRI.. For a minor leg injury, it's not the best option. The minimal radiation exposure from a 2 view X-Ray of a leg is going to be much better suited for visualizing a break. MRI's do not show fractures as well as XR or CT imagines do. MRI is best at exposing soft tissue injuries and nerve damage. A small fracture will more than likely be missed on a $3K MRI while it'll be seen on a $100 XR. Call me crazy, but if I bust my ass and think there's potential for fractures, I'm going to be getting an XR done.

Aww we are such good wives! I found a place that was $15. I could of probably gotten it cheaper with a coupon but Im lazy. I literally had it done in 25 minutes. Im going to tell DH it took me all day and he owes me! Hahah

Eh as far as food restrictions go I am of the mind that if I would hesitate to eat it when I wasn't pregnant, I definitely won't eat it while I am. They overwhelm pregnant women with all the possible ways things could go wrong and make these blanket "rules" so that if something did go wrong, you were "warned". If you're worried about eating lunch meat or sushi or cheese or whatever, you don't have to eat it, but I have decided to take all of that with a grain of salt and my midwife supports me.

And now I want a sandwich.

    That is all.

  • I have not removed my fat ass from the couch since 10 oclock today. Its now nearly 4. I dont plan on getting up for the next hour. Then we are going to the movies where I will sit for another two hours. I'm feeling better from my week long cold, but I'm still milking it today.
  • I haven't been in the office or on my computer since Dec. 17. I am about to be a lot more active on this board starting Monday...

@PinkLady2015 I have had a week-long cold as well and feel like a super bum. Though it's gotten better I still have sinus headaches and felt feverish tonight. DH told me to go lie down an hour ago... I've been up here on my phone rather than trying to sleep. But it feels great

  • I know cramping is normal but does anyone else ever get sharp pains? It's on my lower left side and it's almost throbbing. Ugh I'm almost tempted to take a warm bath :(
  • @Shelby00519 my doctor told me left side pains are typically related to your bowels. A bath would probably feel good!

I occasionally get sharp pains, they're usually gas pains and a gas-x will do the trick

    (Edited because words are hard)
  • @Lindsayleigh1989 are you the one who was doing a Peter pan nursery? Because I'm stealing the idea. Xoxox

I don't think that was me but I did love the star lit sky! I have zero thoughts on my nursery so far as we are apartment living still for the next year haha but I love the idea and go for it! It's not like any of us are ever going to run into each other ;)

  • I was having sharp pains on my left side for two days earlier in the week. I assumed it to be constipation/gas. It hurt to walk, but as soon as I stopped moving, it would stop. Took a couple of days of extra fiber/lots of water/a dose of Miralax and the pain was gone.

It amazes me the difference in how we react to our bodies during pregnancy than normally. If I had been in that amount of pain before, I would have run screaming to the doctor. And massive amounts of vomiting are definite signs of needing a checkup for me. But since they are just routine parts of pregnancy, we shrug off the things that would normally terrify us. That was all I could think about during the two days that I waited for the pain to recede.

I have always dreamed of a Peter Pan nursery. And then someone I can't stand (who I had told about the idea) started pinning tons of Peter Pan nursery ideas on Pinterest. I don't know if she even ended up doing it for her daughter's nursery, but just the idea irks me to no end.

  • I lost my mind this morning and had a runny eggs benedict smothered in delicious hollandais with a cup of black coffee and virgin bloody. It was all amazing and I apologize for nothing!

Omg you totally reminded me that I bought Bloody Mary mix! Thank you!

Dammit just drank some, it always tastes so much better on the airplane.

  • Holy hell. I turned it on not knowing anything about it. I saw on rotten tomato it was about a mother and son bond. I'm like "oh this sounds nice"

Nope! Tears started in about 10 minutes into it when I figured out what was going on and lasted the whole movie.

    I was hysterical.
  • Oh jeez, Room was on my list of things to watch. I'm fairly confident every movie I have watched lately has me crying at some point. I'm trying to avoid out right make you cry flicks

This had me pacing the floor, pulling my hair out, hysterical crying. I couldn't take it but I couldn't stop watching it. I just want DS home so I can cuddle him.
  • @Y0urm0m oh gosh that sounds awful!

    This is nowhere near blackfish.

  • "Can I ask a dumb question?"
    "Better than anyone I know"

Golden Girls quotes aside- I have questions for you STM's with dogs. What do you do with the baby when you take them out. I don't mean walks- I mean a quick run outside. Do you just find a safe spot (pack and play, swing, etc.,) and just run the pup out quickly? I was thinking about it when I had to take my senior pig out for the second time last night. I can't bundle up baby every time this old man needs to take a peepee

And back to the Golden Girls. I am so disappointed that the names Sofia and Rose are so overused right now. Both my husband and I watched Golden Girls with our grandmothers and are Italian. We would have used the name Sofia Rose in a heartbeat since it hold such great memories. A shame.

Ok I'm going to take more medicine and get more rest.
  • Hellllllloooooooo to my first pregnancy cold. Stuffy nose, and crazy sore throat - I despise you. I'm always a giant baby when sick and adding pregnancy on top of it? Ugh.

Omg they made it into a movie?? I read the book a couple years ago and if it's the same one it is def not recommended while pregnant or have kids! Ugh it's terrible.

@Natinat6 are you in an apartment or something? I just tie my dog outside for quick pees.
  • @Y0urm0m That sounds awful!!! I appreciate the warning though. I'm playing it safe today and just watching The Office.
  • I am eating an incredible cheeseburger from the cafeteria. I have worked here for 2.5 years and never had one.
    This thing is awesome sauce.
