I'd go with cheesecake over ice cream if I had some available. Cheesecake is my favorite. I even had some shipped from NY to FL for our wedding.
That must have been good cheesecake! I can't decide between the two...
It was! Junior's has won for the best cheesecake in NY for years running and everyone know NY has the best cheesecake. Ergo Junior's makes the world's best cheesecakes! And they will ship it to you (on dry ice I think). I don't know about shipping to NZ... But they ship across the states at least; I ordered it online.
somehow I don't think it would get through customs...

  • I, for the record, think this AmyG character is a weirdo too. It's damn weird to troll message boards for YEARS dolling out internet advice on a single topic you never elected to pursue as a career or any other path in real life.

Right!!! She's like that mall cop who failed the police academy so she's living her police officer dreams vicariously through her flashlight cop duties. THATS what freaks me out about her. Like everyone else has said if she stuck to the breast feeding board with all her advice and didn't troll everywhere it'd seem less weird.
  • @ColleenSwerb‌ I'm not saying that her advice is wrong but it comes off as arrogant to list the number one reason for any contradictory advice is that the doctor or LC is wrong. Lol

Also she mentions A14 in the post and doesn't mention any other BMBs. Of course this was because someone over here was clamoring for her expertise to be a sticky apparently, even though some other boards were saying that she has aggressively been trying to get stickied on all the BMBs at her own insistence.

Like I said, I'm sure she has a wealth of information to share, but I'm completely turned off from learning anything from her because of her approach which I found offensive, and I think the whole GBCB announcement is a ply for attention and praise which this woman clearly gets off on.

I will let it go when it stops being brought up.

Also this is not to be read as an argument with you as it is not my intention. :)
Yeah sorry, I should not have mentioned it. As I said, I never actually cared until I read this post where it did feel like she blamed us - going as far to say "I got a PM from someone on A14 today asking for a breastfeeding sticky.  Guess they weren't paying attention to their own board!" - that really got up my nose a bit. It also got to me in her explanation where she says " I'd tell one mom to wait til 3 weeks to pump, and another mom I'd tell her to start pumping and supplementing and listen to her dr" - to me that doesn't come across as advice, but do what I say.

Ok, dropping it now, I promise!

. I have to 1000% agree. The girl may have a wealth of knowledge but this shit is starting to get annoying. I wouldn't feel comfortable asking for her advice and might even feel offended if she offered it unsolicited. She has a way of making it feel overwhelming IMO. Her approach obviously doesn't offend everyone but it would me. She would probably make a great LC, but to stalk every thread that mentions breast feeding is just weird and self glorifying. Sometimes it's more comfortable for people to seek out help from someone who communicates a particular way, there's no reason to get into a "funk" and "take a break" from TB. Just LISTEN to people. Ugh.

  • She never cared to explain herself in here, which is her right, but their finances don't allow/haven't allowed her to purse a degree/certification as an LC at this time. She received a lot of help when she was BFing and simply wants to pay it forward.

I just read that. She should start a blog. That way people seek out her advice.

  • Well it's kind of your right not to explain yourself unless and until you declare yourself a subject matter expert on something. I still think that kind of devotion to internet trolling is weird.

    EXACTLY!!!!
  • So random thought: Hoarders is a genius regarding the advertisements they choose to air during this show. I've seen Swiffer and cleaning supply ads all night and damn. I want to CLEAN shit now!

Crawling seems subjective. I've seen newborns on their tummy squish their legs up under them and eventually wiggle themselves forward...which, I guess is getting ahead! But hands and knees crawling, no.
And you can be born with teeth, so I don't see why you can't teethe at 2 mos!

  • Honestly, my DS practically came out of the womb holding his head up. But I am EXTREMELY suspect of a 2 month old crawling. Kicking their legs while laying on their belly =\= crawling, lol.

I think the baby is just doing tummy time and kicking. Can a two month old even rest on their hands and hold up their upper body during tummy time?
  • @deidremaria DD had two teeth just add she turned three months... crawling dIdn't come until month 5 for us. I would be amazed to see a 2 month old crawl lol

I seriously didn't know teeth could come in so early. I'm so glad I learned this now. Imagine if my baby gets teeth early. I'd probably freak out had I not read this

Teeth are crazy; some babies get them super early and some go the whole first year with no teeth. My DS was walking before his teeth erupted. Then he got a bunch all at once. His nanny, who has been caring for infants for over a decade, said she had never seen a one-yr-old without teeth until him :).

I swear people put way too much pressure on babies these days

They do. And it's all a competition. Wait until babies in here start rolling over. Some will early, and some will late, and those late ones will give their moms complexes that something is "wrong". Same with sitting up, crawling , standing, eating solids, first teeth, walking. It never ends.

I try and remind people that no one at high school graduation will give a flying fuck when Johnny sat unassisted/crawled/stopped taking bottles, etc. It seems like the most monumental thing because it's important at the time, but realistically it's not that big a deal, kwim?
My baby isn't even born yet and is already doing calculus. You basic babies cannot compete.
Your high-pressure parenting style will lead your child to a life of misery, loneliness, and deep depression. My kid can't do calculus, but s/he will be happily unsuccessful.
