I'll probably bring some Easter candy to the hospital with the ulterior motive that I want some but don't want the whole bag tempting me. My nurses can benefit if they'd like to.
I'm onboard with this plan! Mostly because I imagine I'll be dying for a sugar rush after giving birth and being so tired. More candy for everyone!
@Lindsay808 a silicone lube shouldn't need to be reapplied in the process. The water based one gets absorbed if you are not producing enough wetness naturally and needs to be reapplied more often because of that.

It's funny how much more I notice other parents not using car seats now that I am going to be a mom. I never paid attention before. Now I see little kids getting into cars without seats, playing in the backseat, or sitting in the front ALL THE TIME! It infuriates me!
I notice crib bumpers all the time now and judge. I feel like everyone I know has them, but I don't have the balls to be like "have you looked into that??" Even one of my best friends... I just can't bring myself to start that fight.

I admit, I have them in the crib for now. Once Peanut starts sleeping in his crib, then I'll pull them out. If he turns out to be a wild sleeper like his mommy, then I'll probably put them back in when he gets a little older, and take them back out when he starts standing!

Yeah I didn't think much of it at first, especially when I saw nursery pics and assumed they would be taken out... But when I went back, she had them in with her son from the start and now she has them in the new babies crib too.
I dunno. I guess without TB I wouldn't think twice about it, but now I'm a super paranoid crazy person...
Congratulations Dr. @lia619 what an exciting accomplishment!! And amazing to finish while pregnant!
Not a fan of nurses gift... I think a nice thank you every time they do something for you, get you something, and not treating nurses/doctors like they are a servant goes a long way. Also being an easy patient that doesn't complain. You will still be an asshole patient if you complain, and cause them to have a rough shift, and bring a gift basket with a poem. After all they are just people at work doing their job and everyone just wants to have an easy shift... Just my opinion.
At the dr to get checked cuz my LO has decided no movements for hours is fun. It's been all day, doing all the tricks to get him to move and barely anything. I get to the dr office and he starts going crazy. Seriously LO?? I appreciate you moving but couldn't this have happened a few hours ago
But isn't it their job to take care if people? I guess I wouldn't mind sending a gift after the fact if someone went above and beyond their call of duty. Otherwise, I expect to be well taken care of and shouldn't have to use gifts as a form of bribery or coaxing them into doing what I want.
I am definitely not using it as a bribe, I'm not doing it to get better care and I don't expect anything extra out of it, I'm just doing it to be nice. At my work, it gets fucking hot in the summer, 80 degrees outside, surrounded by cows who are radiating heat and their 98 degree milk (or whatever temperature it comes out at) and occasionally, my boss brings me ice cream. I don't do a shitty job if I don't get ice cream, but on the occasions I do get ice cream, it just makes my day. Sometimes it's just nice to get a little something extra for doing what you've been doing.
I have nothing against giving the nurses something. Id just rather give it as a "thank you" after I've had the baby than come in during labor with the gift. I have tons of love and appreciation for nurses and physicians and I understand how under appreciated they are but I still couldn't bring myself to bring anything before the baby comes

I think this is the best gift anyone can give!
Why do my boobs look so good? Then I peed on a stick...
Okay so giving your nurses a gift to say thanks is a thing now? Is this an American thing? I've never heard of this before...as if there isn't enough shit to remember to bring to the hospital when I'm in labour.
I've heard of cards after the fact, sure. I guess I'm an asshole because I'd just figure that's...kind of...their job? Why do they need gifts? Where's Emily Post?!
I've never heard of it either and sorry, it's not going to happen.
Can we just pretend we will all be magically in shape post-baby with minimal effort? That would be awesome!
I have 0 plans of doing much of anything this Spring or Summer. In the fall, I may try and get back into some sort of exercise routine, but it's not high on my list of things I want to do ASAP.
@lia619 Wow! That is awesome and amazing!!! So happy for you! Go celebrate, then celebrate again with all the chanpagne once LO is out! Go, smart lady!!

I just finished prepping a chicken stew in the crock pot. I cut up a bunch of onions then forgot to wash my hands and rubbed my eye like a dumbass. Now I am ugly crying and have Flight of the Conchords in my head..."I'm making a lasagna...FOR ONE"
Ugh. DH's parents are coming over for dinner tonight. Then I get a text that she wants to come over and clean, which is super sweet and very welcomed... except I just had to spend my whole morning pre-cleaning. Now I am sore and tired and need to find time to nap before I go to the store for some juicing supplies.
AW: Guise!!! I am a ph.d.! I'm Dr. lia619! I can't believe that I am finally (almost) done--just have to make a few changes and hunt down people to get signatures.
Congratulations!!!! <:-P </p>
Congratulations!!!!!

As for gifts--I think its a nice gesture... if I don't bring it before labor (ie have a basket of stuff ready to go with my labor bag). I highly doubt I would go back and give them something. BUT, like @poru said, I do really like the idea of DH being able to grab bagels or something....because then I too, can profit
I already said this in the gift thread, but we brought a tin of chocolates to our sonographer...but we also saw her WAY more than typical and she was the sweetest, most helpful person ever.

Definitely this. I have no idea when I'm going into labor so making baked goods is not an option. I would bring flowers or something after the birth. However, I hate the argument "it's their job," sometimes a thank you means a lot. I know Ilike to hear ppeople thank me for the work I do.

I'm in the camp of bringing something if its not hard to do (like stopping for donut holes and coffee on the way-I.e not an emergency). If I were going to be in the hospital for an extended amount of time I would probably have DH pick up stuff like @poru Not as a bribe but as a reminder of how awesome my family is and that they WANT to bend over backwards for me

My doctor had told me in the hospital that I was on bed rest until re-checked tomorrow. I found out the note he faxed my work took me out until delivery. I go back to my next appt tomorrow and I'm really hoping he lets Me go back to work on Monday. Not because I want to work, but because financially we will not survive if I go on leave now. Yikes!
