Thanks ladies. This is the start of his "busy season" and we usually joke that I turn into a bachelorette for the summer. The idea of him being like that and me on my own with a newborn scares the crap out of me.
Just an emotional day I guess...
Make sure to talk to him though. It sounds like a totally reasonable fear. If he knows you're concerned about doing this alone it will hopefully be on his mind more often and you'll feel more supported when the baby comes!
We've had this discussion so many times I've lost count. That's why I'm so upset about it today. He keeps saying when she's here it'll be different. But how do I know that?

I get lots of emotional days They are ok to have. My DH will be gone from 6 weeks old until about 6 months, the joys of the army! Good support systems are important to make sure you don't go crazy. And when he does have free time, make the most of it, let him and baby bond as much as possible.
@Tferr02 mad props to you for being strong enough to do that. I clearly wouldn't be able to. I don't exactly have a close by support system. Plenty of people I could call but no one who could just show up and help.
They also airlifted live lobsters in for Sunday dinners.
DH spent 9 months there and suffered severe food disappointment when he got home.
That's awesome. We were never there long enough for anything more than picking up pizza.
On our rare missions to bases out of Afghanistan, we would pick up real milk. Our base only had soy (ok) or reconstituted milk (gross).
When DH and I went to see Zero Dark Thirty and they got to Jalalabad, all I could think of was "I've been there! I love their bread!!" It's a fire-oven baked flatbread, they sprinkle cinnamon-sugar on top and serve it hot. Sooooo good.
Also deployment food related: For anyone thinking of sending a care package, stop sending candy. Send homemade cookies. We ate the cookies and air dropped extras to the army guys who were stuck in places without mail. Send hometown newspapers instead of magazines, no one wants to read People over there. If your kid's class draws pictures or makes cards to send, we hang them on the walls because they are awesome.
I was bad, I sent alcohol to a good friend of mine while he was in Afghanistan. He was really appreciative! I was kind of shocked it got through :-P I'm probably a seriously bad person for that.
Yay, going to MI in July! Must go to Greektown and eat all the food!
I always went to this restaurant called Pegasus, just down the road - even as a little kid growing up! We'd go to Sesame Street Live at the Fox theater and go to Pegasus for dinner... Man was that a long time ago...
I was about to say I'm jealous when I realized I'll be back in the Mitten in July too (for a wedding)!
\:D/
I've lived in the Mitten for 20 years and I have yet to go to Greektown.
I was invited to a hometown reception for my cousin in the Mitten in August, but I don't know if I'll be up for traveling that far. I DO need to plan a trip back with LO to hit up my old favorites: Frankenmuth and Franklin's Cider Mill. Ahhhh memories!
FYI - I'm a whole 30 minutes south of Frankenmuth. I smell a bump/baby meet up!
It's rainy and like 40 something today, but I am having crazy hot flashes! My forehead gets sweaty and I get hot all over. So awkward. I feel like an old lady.
Why does my kid poop 4000 times a day? Screams through a diaper change screams when he has a dirty diaper. Two seconds after a fresh diaper is on, he shits again.
I'm elbow deep in breast milk and shit!
I have one on the inside of my upper arm. When I wear short sleeves you can only see it when I life my arm up above my head. What about your rib cage? Or I have one on my shoulder coming onto my collar bone. They can all be hidden or be visible!
I am getting a new tattoo when I am allowed, aka not BFing (I have to get on a waitlist now). I have decided to get a jolly roger next (aka skull and crossbones). My DS is obsessed with pirates and my husband has one tatted on his upper arm. DS frequently requests that we draw him jolly rogers and ask for fake jolly roger tats. It was actually one of his first words (hearing a 2 year old say jolly roger is pretty damn cute).
The question is where?! I have a good number on my back already and I am saving available space there for other things. I am an attorney, so I don't like to flaunt my tats. I would do the upper arm like my husband, but I think its a bit masculine of a location for a solitary tat, and its already a bit masculine of a tat. Where I really want it is the inside of my arm on my forearm just under the inside of the elbow. But I don't want to feel the need to wear long sleeves to cover it up at work (I might get over this). Especially though since some people would look at skull and crossbones as, for lack of a better word, "evil".
Any other suggestions?
The only idea I have is the lower leg/ankle/foot area. Easy to cover up if necessary?

How big are you thinking? I have several and try to keep my arms free other than my shoulders. If you are not thinking to large how about right above the ankle (but if you are a skirt wearer than it isn't a option I guess)
LO deeeeefinitely hasn't flipped. So. Much. Kicking. All near my FUPA, too. It's like he's dancing in there--kick kick kick, then I see a movement in my upper belly where his head is, then kick kick kick, and swoosh back to the other side. This is what I get for eating half a box of Thin Mints while dipping them in slightly melted ice cream!
@poru, I have two (that are the opposite of what you're getting) and I am obsessed with getting another one. I want to get mine on my side in the middle of the ribs. Moreso for swim suit wearing than anything.
Been lurking for a few days. I'm trying to get ahead on homework and work on spending quality time with DD. Wonderful job on the labor and name threads!
My xray machine is having technical issues that means I cant do anything. I am sitting here waiting for tech support to call me back - god I hope its an easy fix! Ive had a Dr get annoyed with me because I couldnt show him images of a pt I was working with when it went down. and then 20mins later he sends another pt to me then gets annoyed that I didn't send out a message that the machine was down!! (usually when I send the message, the machine is fixed within 20 mins, so I didn't bother this time, cant bloody win). Seriously!!! And the patient I was in the middle of xraying is getting really annoyed because they are waiting to get a cast off, but they cant until the Dr sees the image. The fix could take 10 mins or 10hrs - I don't know until the technician calls me which should be in the next 10 mins but for some reason they are taking a lot longer today than usual!!!!! I can hear her sitting outside my room having an argument with her husband about waiting or leaving!!!
On a positive note (yes this is a weird one) my DH sent me an email with a link to a new vacuum cleaner!!!!!! made me insanely happy because our current one is over 4 years old, and no long has any sucking power. I have been complaining about it every week since Christmas and DH has refused to buy a new one... so here's hoping!
PS its only 12pm!!! I am finishing early today, no matter what!

I am thinking about the size of a silver dollar -- not very big. Ribs don't work for me, cause I will never show them off -- I am not a swimsuit person And (I am about to offend about 8 million people), I think ankle/feet tats are tacky unless the whole lower leg is sleeved (sorry sorry). I like the idea of maybe the front of my shoulder. That is where DH has our wedding tattoo. I always try to think about what covers up for work easily and what looks good with a strapless gown. But then there is part of my that would like people to see I have tats for once in my life.
Inside of your wrist? That would be pretty daring though and hard to cover.

I'd say your instinct sounds good! I'm clueless with tattoos. LOL. I watched all my friends in college get tramp stamps and then regret them a year later.
ETA Instead of tattoos, I pierced a lot and dyed my hair a million colors.
Adding to my previous rant, I really really need to go to the bathroom, but the phone number they are calling me on is my direct line... And I know the moment I step out they will call! This is unfair!

Lucas had his bilirubin checked on Monday it was 14. Doc said it was high but still normal. She wanted it checked today to make sure it was going down. No one called me so I had to call them. Some dude (not our ped) said it's 14.75 now. You don't have to retest.
To me it went up and that's what she didn't want. Even if just a small amount it went in the wrong direction. No one explained anything. I'm a little annoyed.
I'm having bad cramps in my lower abdomen again. :-( Same pain I had Monday when I went into the hospital. I don't want to go back unless baby is for sure coming, but it's hurting. Bahhh
poru I have one inside of my wrist and it is actually easy to cover with a band watch or chunky bracelet. Also many do not realize i have it unless my wrist is just laying around...lol. It is about the width of a dollar bill and its Kanji script for mother and daughters.

UGH! Not fair. I hope they calm down, but, you know you when/if you should go. Such a bummer to keep going through this!!

I am conflicted whether I should go back in bc I know they won't give me any more shots, so I should probably tough it out, but the pains pretty bad. Hard even for a second time mom to determine when it's time.
AHHH I knew I was going to offend people with that comment. Sorry guys, I still love you all, even if you have ankle/foot tats. It's just one of those things for me. Like french manicures on toes. I just don't like em, I can't explain why.

Did they give you any guidance for when they wanted you to call?
Yeah, they told me to go back when I was experiencing any of the symptoms that I had WHILE I was there. I'm like umm I'm already experiencing everything on your list... The nurse was like yeahhhh that's going to be tough to call.
This baby is trying to crawl out of my butt. Little one, two things: 1. That is not the exit. 2. You are not allowed to come out until we close on this house and move! You may leave via the appropriate passageway anytime after next Saturday.
