I'm sure you know this @pineconey and I'm not trying to lecture or anything. But it's recommended each pregnancy now because it more effectively passes immunity to the fetus, and I also think because pertussis has become such an issue all over the country now.
Speaking of, I need to call around and find out where I can get it. My stupid OB is all "omg it's so important to get it, but we don't actually administer it". Thanks. That's super helpful. 0_o
they need to administer one that doesnt have the effing tetanus in it- because that's the one that hurts like a bitch. also? we had to pay $70 OOP for each of us to get it- insurance wouldn't cover it so obviously they don't think it's a big deal to get. whooping cough for everyone, bitches.
i'm really in a crabby mood.

@ColleenSwerb my OB's office was the same way. I asked them about it only because my sister is a pediatrician and told me it was a new recommendation to get the vaccine. Apparently my office can't find a cost effective way to provide the vaccine right now... I'm not even sure they would have mentioned it if I hadn't asked :-/ DH and I got them at our local pharmacy (Kroger).
@pineconey I hear ya on the $70 OOP complaint. Because my OB's office wasn't the one giving/prescribing the vaccine, I had to get it through my GP or go OOP. I don't have a GP right now because I never got a new one when my insurance switched this past October (I didn't want to start seeing a new Dr. while pregnant - I'm weird like that). DH doesn't have a GP either because he's an idiot (more on that another day...), so $160 bucks for two sore arms. Doesn't seem like a great trade-off to me in the short term.
@colleenswerb, check your PCP's office. My OB wouldn't give it to DH (obviously), CVS was $75, and our PCP bills insurance for us so it's nothing OOP unless they send us a bill.
Having a huge case of "IDGAF" to everyone who posts AW or almost any other kind of post if I don't recognize their name. Very tempted to comment that "nobody cares" for some of them, but I just can't bring myself to do it.
Got the TDap booster today. Holy crap my arm hurts. Waaay more than flu. And they told me I got it just in time- you can't get it after 36 weeks until baby is born. I had no idea!
OMG had mine last week and my arm hurt even worse the second day, and continued to be hard, swollen, and tender for about 4 days.
Oh great...thanks for the heads up!

@Sisimama10 I was surprised to see you were sent back to work after the last time. Are they at least sending you home with something to help keep the contractions at bay? Are you out of work until LO comes? My Midwife took me out of work at 33 weeks and put me on Procardia to lessen the contractions, she is taking me off the meds next week (36weeks) and whatever happens, happens.
I hope your get all the rest you need and LO hangs out for a bit longer!
I was also put on procardia but had a really bad reaction to that. I also havent been doing well with the terbutaline. They let me go back to work after a week of no change while I was on bed rest. Now I think I'm done until baby comes. I have an appt Friday.
My husband likes to bitch about how the baby gate is marking up the walls (this is a rental). Well, it wouldn't mark up anything if you wouldn't charge through it like a bull in a china shop. It takes less than a second to OPEN THE GATE and walk through.
Ugh add me to the tdap kills my arm club. What peeves me more is DH got it too and he says his arm doesn't hurt at all. If I'm going to be in pain I wanted us both to be. At least this time...
Oh my goodness I'm about to lose my mind. Can't get comfortable. Can't sleep. Just a huge ball of misery right now. I don't even know what to do. I would fall on the floor and cry, but I'd never be able to stand up again...

This is me today. I had to stay off of facebook because of all the rage from no sleep and feeling like CRAP.
Also, advice for the TDAP ladies. As much as it sucks, keep moving the arm, often. The last time I had one the nurse told me to move my arm around at least once an hour (like stretch above your head, etc.) I definitely got over the pain faster. (Or maybe I tricked myself in to thinking that!)
I've missed so many posts over the weekend, I hope you all are doing well. Especially all those with outside babies and all the new adjustments in your life right now! I think I may have found my dream home this weekend and we've already have much interest in our house and it's not even listed yet! Hopefully things will fall into place before this baby comes! Wow that's a lot of exclamation marks!!
I emailed my OB to ask about the Tdap and she said I should get it after delivery. I'm a little confused bc I thought the idea was that it oases to baby in utero...I'm sure some would pass through breastfeeding....planning on talking to her about it at my appt on Wednesday for sure.
This was my understanding as well. Today when I got mine they said I couldn't have it if I'm past 36 weeks (I'm just a few days shy of that) and Id have to wait until after delivery to get it. I can't see tickers- how far along are you now? I know it has something to do with optimum efficiency o the vaccine but other than that I don't know why you can't have it after 36 weeks.

Anyone's patience with their other kids going down the drain?? I feel like all I do it grit my teeth these days and try my best not to show how distracted I am by completely normal toddler behavior. I think he is starting to notice though...

I thought my OB was the only morons that harrassed me about getting the TDAP but doesn't actually give it! Same with the flu shot! We got the run around from my GP so we ended up getting it at CVS and they billed it through our insurance. Took forever though. My arm hurt like I lifted too much weight for a good 4 days! I agree with PP though, keep moving it and it felt better. Plus, do NOT get it in the arm you normally sleep on!

Yes, and then I feel bad. He also doesn't understand why Mommy is more reluctant to get up off the couch to get things for him these days.

Yes, I have a very low tolerance and I go from zero to snapping in seconds.
Weird that my phone autocorrected frustrated to distracted but I guess that fits too.
I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like a bad mom these days @Twirple
I'm trying to pick my battles. I'll willingly carry him down the stairs, as long as I don't have to try to carry him and his daycare bag across the street to daycare.

Is it weird that I didn't really think the Tdap was bad at all? NBD in my opinion. Sorry so many of you had such a difficult time with it, I know everyone reacts differently to stuff!
The milk went bad so this is happening with dinner instead. And if I was smart enough to realize the milk was bad I would've put the good stuff in the fridge to chill...

I'm 36 weeks on Thursday. That's why I have to be sure to ask on Wednesday lol.
Me too! One more month! <:-P

The first TDAP I remember having was traumatizing. I was 5 and had busted my head open. I was apparently really good while they did the stitches. But, I thought I was all done and sitting up on the bed. They had given me juice. This nurse comes up behind me and says loudly "Katie, you're going to get a shot." and then JAB! Scared the crap out of me, which made me tense up my arm, which made the shot 1000 times worse. They don't give tdap here to pregnant women because whooping cough is not a problem (I asked), but, every time I have gotten it the memory of that childhood pain comes back.
I have some pee pads for dogs here. I am really thinking of putting then on my mattress under our mattress pad just im case my water breaks in bed. I don't think we will want to clean the matress in the moment and letting it sit there for a few days sounds awful. They are practically the same pad the hospital puts on your bed so that makes it ok right?
On another note, I realize it happens not that often, but, is it stupid to sleep on a towel because of this? I've been sleeping on the couch...LOL.
I don't have a mattress pad on our mattress....I really should think about getting something to protect it just in case. If amniotic fluid gets into the mattress....not much you can do right?!?!
@katieharpiceland I don't think that is stupid! I was thinking of sitting on a towel at work. I might be embarrassed if mine broke and got in the carpet at work.
Then I'm all about toweling my couch! LOL. I'll wait until next week maybe. Its probably overkill and a FTM thing to do, but, I don't care :-D
