Ugh. The other half of my duo offered to do one performance proposal for us, and I gladly accepted. I saw what he sent. Written in bad Icelandic (he didn't even spell Icelandic right! Íslenska NOT Íslenzka. There is no Z in the alphabet here!!!) and doesn't even tell the main purpose of the concert. Also, I said I wanted all the composers to be under the age of 20 and he puts someone on there that was 23. Not a big deal except we've already PLAYED this piece. I want young composers!! Like, actual young composers. Not the Icelandic "OH he's so young, he's only 25" bullshit. (Yes, 25 is young, but, a post degree young is different than a pre degree young!)

I'm full of rants today. FULL OF RANTS!

I'm annoyed today.....

1) Went to the clinic to make sure my cold is really just a cold (DH just read about pregnant women dying of the flu and can't calm down). The nurse taking my vitals (that I usually really like), looks at my chart, then looks at me, and says "So, even though you don't look pregnant, you are pregnant?"......nooo, I'm pretending, because it's fun.

2) I gave my students their mid-term exam today. There is one girl in my class who has already missed 5 of 8 lectures. I was secretly hoping she would bomb the test - of course she gets a B on it. WTF world!!!!

We have full service gas stations we aren't even allowed to pump our own gas in Oregon, but we pay extra.

When gas is already $3.55/gallon, I wouldn't even notice having to pay extra to stay in my nice, warm car while someone else pumps the gas.

ETA: I survived going to the gas station and am now in my nice, warm house.

Ick, I hate it!

We got in trouble when we stopped to fill up while driving through Oregon. I knew about Jersey, but not OR.

I don't mind the option being available, but making it mandatory makes me mad.

If memory serves, it is against the law in both Oregon and New Jersey to pump your own gas. Those are the only placs that I am aware of that still have full service stations.

So as time approaches for me to be a mom,I can't help but get emotional. I came from a single-parent household where my mom raised both my sister and I with limited resources and it was a struggle. We may not have had a lot but my mom always showered us woth lots of love and affection.
I can't believe the time is coming where I will get the opportunity to love something as much as I saw my mom love my sister and I. I'm feeling very grateful and blessed today :x

It's amazing how many free full cans of baby formula I have received from my OB office and in the mail. Hopefully my baby will do well with BF but if not I have a nice stash built up. If baby doesn't need it, it's good to know I can donate it. Some of them don't expire for a year or 2. Now where are all of my free diaper samples??

Question! Is it ungrateful or silly or whatever to want what you registered for? For example, a lot of the things I want aren't available in stores; you have to order them online. My MIL got a call from one of my FIL's sisters saying that my pack-n-play is out of stock at the store (and coincidentally online too :-S), and they wanted to know what I wanted to do. My MIL was wanting me to "pick another one out real quick." I mean.. there's a reason I picked out the one I wanted in the first place, and I'm also a very indecisive, picky person. I take the time to see what features I like about it, read the reviews and look at all my options before I decide.

I ended up telling them I deleted the swing I wanted from my registry because it got bad reviews and never added another one, so they could just pick whatever one they wanted as long as it was gender-neutral (so I can use it with future potential sons). I didn't really want to do that either since I have no idea what I'll be getting, how trustworthy it is and all that, but it seemed better than changing my pack-n-play last minute while they were waiting there at the store for me to decide... Blah.

My younger sister and I grew up in a similar way though I never felt like resources were limited (guessing our grandma was financially involved somehow, because our father was not). Either way, we got tons of attention and fun excursions and things. As much as my mom has her issues and often drives me BSC these days, my childhood is still the major reason behind my passion for being a parent.
