I'm concerned.  I always thought of myself as a pretty nice girl and I don't think that we're even that mean.  It's possible that I've just been a bitch my whole life, apparently.
Bhahahaha! I guess I'm a bitch who thought she was nice also! Oh well, I'm happy being a mean bitch. Ignorance was bliss?
It kind of was, but, you're right, this isn't too bad either.  I'm still pretty happy.

Plus, I'm already 36, so I've had plenty of years of thinking I'm nice.  Not a bad run!
  • @snmetz7, I think it could be a good sign that you're feeling pretty good and hungry after having the glucola drink!  That's opposite of how I felt and I failed all over the place.

Anecdotal evidence is generally a pretty pointless thing, but it seems that people who metabolize the sugar better probably don't feel as crappy as the people who don't.

Yay for a (possibly true, possibly nonsensical and totally made up) good sign!
  • Speaking of shaving.. I officially can't see my hoohah and it sucks! I have to literally lift my belly up to make sure I got everything after I shave blind. I'm considering getting a Brazilian wax but I'm scared!

I can't see it rather. I think I'm going to break down and get one. We are trying to be strict with our funds but I think at this point it's a necessity.

  • The sugary drink wasn't the problem for me, it was actually kind of tasty like a melted orange Popsicle. It was the dread of knowing in exactly one hour someone was going to go digging in my little tiny veins for blood. I just got a voicemail to expect to do the test next Wednesday.

Here's hoping my blood volume has increased so much the past few months that I don't even notice the needle ;) I'm such a wuss.
  • Actually TP'ing DH would be wrong, yes? TODAY CAN SUCK IT. lol.

Ehhh debatable... Depends on what he did.

  • @Mamamonzo - I did the same for DH and he didn't even notice because he fell asleep when I tried to put the moves on him. I even someone managed to cut myself with an ELECTRIC shaver multiple times in pursuit of this goal. Men suck sometimes.
  • @Lindsay808, have you thought about doing a registry anyway?  You can get discounts on stuff, but, beyond that, it's been a great way for me to keep my thoughts organized on what we have/need, etc...
  • Ok oh wise Mamas of RTT...I have decided to give breastfeeding a shot. However, I am rather clueless about the process. The hospital we are delivering at offers a class but there is a fee and money is really tight right now. There will be a lactation consultant available at the hospital after baby is born to show me the ropes. So I guess my question is, should I spend the money on the class so I have more information on the basics or do you think having the lactation consultant available after birth will suffice? Do you think I can make do with either reading up on the subject or finding some videos online or do you think the class will be of vital importance?
My vote is to wait for the lactation consultant. I was so freaked and stressed about breastfeeding that I never attempted it with my first two, but with the 3rd decided to just go for it. I had a nurse the first night show me how to get him latched on and then the lactation consultant came a couple of times before we left the hospital. Also, check with your ped's office, they may have an LC on staff.

Puppies and rainbows only plzzz!!! I don't get the whole "she's just concerned about getting everything she needs for the baby. She needs support because she can't have the baby shower that she wants." As if she has some kind of serious medical issue. It's just a damn baby shower.

I'm not getting a baby shower because I'm new to the area and have a total of 2 friends here so it's pretty much up to me and DH. I'm not even doing a registry. If family and friends want to send us stuff like they have hinted, then they will but I'm not relying on anyone. You should be responsible for getting your own shit and if other people get you stuff then great, that's a gift and a privilege not an entitlement or requirement. Rant over.

    Hope I didn't offend anyone here X_X

Good for you. I'd do the same :) but I can see where she's coming from at the same time. If we didn't wait as long as we did and money were more of an issue I would be disappointed I couldn't have a shower I was planning on.

^This. I would do a registry for the coupons and if you do one at babies r us you get 10% back on a gift card from everything purchased on your registry. I bought a bunch of clothes yesterday there and added them to the registry first to get the cash back on them.

  • Good morning RTT! I just applied for that position I had posted about the other day and now my stomach is in knots. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I really never thought I'd be interviewing while 6 months pregnant. X_X ETA: I can't spell this morning apparently!
    Good luck!!!

I might put one together at Amazon for the discounts and sign up for their mom program.

He's just not very understanding to the whole my-wife-is-pregnant-and-is-tired-all-the-time stuff... and I'm TIRED OF IT. I can't comfortably bend to unload/load the dishwasher, or get clothing out of the dryer. I'm not sleeping... maybe 2 hours a night, if I'm lucky. And I still go to work every day and work a full 8 or 9 hours, come home (sometimes after stopping at the store and carrying bags up 10 steps from the car!) and make a healthy dinner from scratch.. and he comes home and lays on the couch and that's totally okay? And its okay after I'm been up for over a day and ask him to please unload the dishwasher, and he can get all grumpy? No. No. Sorry, angelcakes. He's gonna have a rude awakening when baby is here, lol...

Maybe I'll make dinner for me tonight, lol.. just me.

  • The glucola drink reminded me of my childhood, when after church, we'd go into the church hall and have donuts and fake juice. You know, those jugs of colored "juices" in the refrigerated section? Usually orange, fruit punch, grape, or lemon-lime flavored? Or those drinks that used to come in those plastic containers shaped like barrels.

Not saying I loved it, but I don't get the serious aversion to it either. Unless you... HATE SUGARY DRINKZ?! Lol

When we made KoolAid as kids, I only drank it if we put half the called-for sugar in X_X

    /freak
This is me. They never let me make the kool aid because I never made it sweet enough. Even now I dilute juice.

I guess the whole thing with baby showers that irks me is people actually think that 1) they are going to get every single thing on their registry. 2) going to get the things they actually need vs. the cute stuff 3) can't figure out that they CAN take themselves to the store and buy the stuff they want/need. I'm 99% sure I won't get the changing pad I registered for... Who wants to by that? Guess what? I'm going to go buy it today because it's on sale and I need it. Baby shower threads have become the new weight thread.
This. I put it on my registry because that's the one I want but I'm fully aware that I might not get anything on the registry. I went ahead and bought a pack n play the other day because it was super cheap at Target. I don't plan to stop buying my own things too.
