Good for you. I'd do the same but I can see where she's coming from at the same time. If we didn't wait as long as we did and money were more of an issue I would be disappointed I couldn't have a shower I was planning on.
Money is tight for us but I can't expect people to get us stuff when they can't physically come to a shower and we can't afford to fly all the way to Hawaii or Oregon to have a party. When it comes down to it, I completely understand where that OP is coming from but I would never just post links to registries on Facebook and expect everyone else to buy us stuff. It's disappointing but I've accepted it and have taken the responsibility and welcome anyone that offers to help. Woah sorry for the rants! I think reading all of the baby shower threads have built up in me!

I am with you. I'm from Alaska and would rather spend that money I would use on the ticket towards my babies. I also wouldn't post it on fb nor do an online shower. In fact I would rather not have a showerthan do an online shower..., but that's me and not her (obviously).
Yeah I think the posting on Facebook was the part that got under my skin. I had someone do that who I went to high school with and it baffled me. She even posted about "please help us by buying stuff--any gift counts". It was her fourth child by as many fathers and she doesn't work nor does the baby daddy.
I wanted to get over it, but then it was re-posted like 6 times over the course of her pregnancy.
Oh, Jimmy Johns... That is so happening in my life later.
As for shaving, I am actually kicking myself for shaving down the legitimate forest that was my legs. We're leaving for Michigan tonight, what the actual fuck was I just thinking?? It's gonna be freezing cold and I just screwed myself. Ouch, my skin is going to be so mad at me. Thank goodness I didn't get overzealous and attempt the blind crotch maintenance. I may have already leveled with DH that any shaving of the bits from here on out should be treated as a lovely surprise and may very well be the last time before we have this kiddo. He took it pretty well and already agreed to take trimmers to what I can only assume will be my 70s porn bush a week or so before the due date. He's a keeper.
I know! Especially since most of the friends on her list are high school acquaintances (she and I were in different circles). But then, she also has grossly sexual conversations with her baby daddy on Facebook for all to see, gets into fights with her BF's mom, and proceeded to break up with and subsequently make up with said BF. It is all incredibly entertaining, really. I want to look away, but it's too much of a train wreck.
She is now messaging me pointers on what government assistance I can get. It started with condolences over being married because I have to count DH's income toward our household. She then suggested we legally separate. WTF?!? Ummm, unemployment is fine for me, thanks. I even feel guilty about collecting that, and this is coming from someone who has been working since age 12!
Ok one more then I must be productive! It really bugs me when people say things about our specific plans on parenting. We plan on making baby food. So many people keep laughing at us. "The jars are so much eaiser, why waste your time". Because I want to! Why does it bother other people so much? It doesn't affect them so what's it really matter!? Plus, it's not that hard!!

Not to mention all the preservatives in it! They make it so easy these days with the steamer and blender in one. One could make it while they made themselves breakfast. Oh people..

Silly girl. Didn't you know every choice you made/will make since your BFP is public forum now?? It's now in the same category as your weight and specifically, how big your belly is or isn't. Rules of basic tact and courtesy no longer apply.
The glucola drink reminded me of my childhood, when after church, we'd go into the church hall and have donuts and fake juice. You know, those jugs of colored "juices" in the refrigerated section? Usually orange, fruit punch, grape, or lemon-lime flavored? Or those drinks that used to come in those plastic containers shaped like barrels.
Not saying I loved it, but I don't get the serious aversion to it either. Unless you... HATE SUGARY DRINKZ?! Lol
When we made KoolAid as kids, I only drank it if we put half the called-for sugar in X_X
/freak
This is me. They never let me make the kool aid because I never made it sweet enough. Even now I dilute juice.
I loved Tang as a kid and made it suuuper sugary. Drinking the glucola drink was like revisiting my childhood. I also would make butter toast with cinnamon then add a thick layer of white sugar on top.

Wow I fell behind during one grocery shopping trip! That shower thing is crazy. I wanted to travel home for a shower but my doctor wouldn't let me travel in 3rd trimester so I didn't get to. Family and friends all lived 18-27 hours away. I made a registry and only told my mom so she could tell family members if they asked. One family member bought off of it, that is all. It's not the end of the world!! We are a one income military family, trust me money is tight but we make it work! I'd never put it on Facebook or anything. I never got a bridal shower either..so maybe I'm just weird.
Quick question for all the ST+Ms who EBF: how soon PP did you have your first real drink? Or should I reword that to multiple drinks at a time?
Playing catchup, so sorry if this has been answered. I had a beer about a week post-partum. And I really wasn't comfortable drinking more than 1 drink because after abstaining for so long I was tipsy off just that 1 beer, lol!
This is what I'm afraid of. I've always had such a high tolerance that I feel like I'll get tipsy just sniffing a vodka tonic PP. I am surprised that I don't miss drinking. I always thought that I'd miss having drinks when pregnant but I don't. I guess I'll just have to see what happens.
I feel like I'm always love-titting RTT poster's comments on the other threads (for those who venture out there) just because I'm like, "hey I know her. That's my BFF!"
Who knew showers could cause so much drama. I'm inviting my friends from Minnesota ( I'm in Illinois) but sent them a message saying that I don't expect them to come and I definitely do not expect them get a gift but wanted to offer the invite so they didn't feel left out. I couldn't imagine posting my registry on fb.
Mom to 10 year old DS and 7 year old DD. Twin girls coming soon!

LOL, all this mayo hate! So sad. I love me some mayo.
I really am not in the mood to get ready for this concert, but, if I want dinner, I got to do it now. Putting on more make up to play for 10 minutes. Love my job, but, I'm a lazy one lately.

I decided to look online for some nursery ideas since we need to figure something out for 2 cribs. Apparently everybody who posts nursery pictures on Google image search has gargantuous rooms and lots of nice stuff. Totally depressed now.

Pintrest is my worst enemy!! I'll find something I LOVE - try to use the same paint color that does not look the same at all on my walls. And all the furniture in the pictures is like crazy expensive. Guessing my nursery (or any room in my house, really) will never make google image search
